Thought we effectively gained two new forwards last night in the third when Farmer and perlini started with Pither and that first shift set the tone for the rest of the period. Hopefully that will be continued and if Farmer and Perlini get going points wise, that will be a big boost for us.

So what's our best move on the goalkeeping front for next year? Does anyone know if Galbraith wants to stay? If we retain a two-import-GK policy, will Gospel want to stay? If Galbraith stays (we assume Garnett will as he came on a two-year deal), would Galbraith be the definite No. 1? Does all this matter a lot less if we recruit a team that, as a whole, scores more than the 3.52 per game and concedes fewer than the 3.17 per game that were the averages this year? Are there any British-qualified GKs of a similar level to Galbraith who could be used to free up an import slot for another skater? All questions for the management and the new coach to ponder. Thanks for the goalie stats. I'd have thought that Garnett's 89.3% in the league would have got him sacked in years where we didn't have a strong back up. I'd be looking for ways of getting out of his two year deal or if we have to keep him to see out his studies, only on a reduced backup package. My biggest disappointment this year with his non CHL game performance. Surely we must have some contract protection with these Uni deals in case we sign a dud?

Thanks, bobness.
Any thoughts on the goalies? Win, losses ?
I always thought with Garnett (CHL excepted) that even when he'd had a good game, he usually managed to let in at least three.

This might go against the grain slightly and there is no doubting that his domestic output has been poor. However, I can’t help but think that the coach has a played a part in Shalla’s demise by playing him on a line (for weeks) with Lachowicz and Betteridge. That was never, ever going to be a line where Shalla would flourish goals-wise. CN just didn’t get the best out of him. You don't get to be a top 10 ECHL scorer for nothing. Still feel that on the right team/line, with the right coach, he could tear up this league. I agree with you but there's also the possibility that it was Shalla that was the problem ( his attitude?) and he was put with Lacho and Ollie to give him a kick up his backside. His swift exit might also tie in with this.

Point of order, 71 and 91 are very much due assists on the Billingsley goal. I think TD got too excited with the thought of a video review.

Leaving aside the spat about where the meeting at the solicitors was going to be, Leicester or Nottingham, the main message last night was that NB has chosen to engage with fans via these Q+ A sessions and doesn't intend to grant the Trust special status/access.

It could be that this year maybe they were right that there wasn't much quality available to come in to replace people. Look at Sheffield's two Hagos (39 games, 3 goals 15pts) and Walker (15 games for 11 points). Even Carter's stats are better than Hagos.

Goal line technology wise... I think the league decided that until it was operational in all 10 rinks, then it wouldn't go live. 8 rinks have it ready to go, apparently. (From the things people post/have posted) What I don't know for sure is if Nottingham are one of the 8 or the 2. In any case, that's a crap decision, any way you look at it. Any rink that has it should use it, end of. Better to get the decisions in those rinks correct if you can. Once the remaining 2 teams get a duff decision or three, they'll relent PDQ. A bit like cricket's DRS and India. We're one of the eight. It was there on Saturday ready for the finals, I think I saw somewhere it was an updated version from the one that was there for one match late last year. Totally agree that it's daft it's not being used. Sheffield is in the eight too, think it might be Belfast and Braehead where it isbn't ready.

Following on from last night's awards, who would you vote for as your Player, Forward and D man of the year? And the player who's not lived up to your expectations this year.

The reaction to the hit was a bit different to Saturday. Keefe did his job, our enforcer went straight for a hug. Having watched that one again, McGrattan looks like he doesn't want to fight but there again he's our top scorer (along with Farms) in recent games.

Surely somebody (Spik) could tot up the total pen minutes given to each side by Scottish refs in games between Erhardt and Gardiner teams. I would bet my last cent, that the Erhardt teams would have one heck of a lot more against them than the Gardiner teams. Have done something similar, after wondering at the number of obvious penalties not called recently. Panthers have had Scottish refs eight times this season (inc one storm away) - opponents have had more powerplays than us seven times (score 7-1-0, last number even powerplay opps) Darnell as ref, 4 against, only one more, three even. Not much surprise there. Last thirty games, eighteen against us, six more for us, six even. Surprised me, especially with the number of other teams who defend far more aggressively. Of those 17 were away, 13 !!!! against , two more, two even. Home advantage works elsewhere ?? but not at NIC five against, four more, four even. Only refs this season who have given us more powerplays (totals of all games reffed) than opponents are Hogarth and Sewell.

If it were based on that goal difference, the team plus/minus would be 25 x 5 =125 in total as you usually have five outskaters on the ice for a goal. You don't include power goals scored or conceded though but the actual total is +122 on those figures

In case anyone's interested, Panthers' approximate plus minus figures for the season were
Schmidt +6, Lachowicz +10, Mosey +5, Berube +12, Parent 0, Lawrence +16, Farmer +13, Graham -5, Landry +23, Benedict -3, Oakford -2, Jacina +3, Lee +12, Doucet +7, Cohen -1, Wild +6, Higgins 0, Boxill +11, Robinson +4, Clarke +6, Cownie +1, Betteridge -2
Missing about four games and sometimes it was impossible to see from highlights exactly who was on the ice for the goal.

Credit to Coventry for adapting to the two referee (if that's what we got) system over the weekend. One guy moans at one ref, another guy is bending the other ref's ear and sometimes there was even someone else ready to carry on. Quite what they found to complain about was beyond me.

GM appears to say that he thought the conference system was agreed for three years - would that make this season the last of the three?

Is this all even strength goals or just all the goals? If it is just the even strength goals then top marks sir. All even strength goals, short handed goals scored and conceded included as I understand the +/- rules to be.

Even with your suggestion of a margin of error, I am intrigued at Berube +11 and Landry +15, as these two players have come in for quite a bit of negative comment on here. (Landry also had three consecutive seasons in junior where he was a cumulative +106!) Stef, I think that one of the reasons Landry and Berube are so positive on the +/- is that they have been our only all import D partnership for most of the season. The pleasant surprise for me is how well Jonathan Boxill is doing at the moment.

Someone has been doing plus/minuses!
PLUSES, Schmidt 3, Clarke 6, Lachowicz 9, Mosey 4, Berube 11, Parent 4, Lawrence 2, Farmer 0, Graham 0, Landry 15, Jacina 1, Lee 1, Wild 5, Higgins 3, Boxill 8, Robinson 4, Cownie 1, Betteridge 1, MINUSES, Benedict -3, Oakford -2
Have been jotting these down from highlights, missing about three away games (where there were no highlights) and there's errors built in because you can't always see definitely who was on the ice.
Benny obviously missed quite a few games and was a big minus on Sunday and home v Hull too.

Yes, got one from Darnell last week that was almost as bad. He's not going to catch anyone who's past him on a breakaway now.
