We should win this however it does concern me that we play Jaca first as I certainly believe that seeing as Jaca are the home team, we may encounter penalty issues.
Also if the Panthers and Liepaja win both of their games, it seems pretty strange that the deciding game between the 2 teams is on first.

Worth pointing out that those are the local times. Minus one hour for BST.

Roll call then, who else is going? So you could say, " Our Caesar is off to sunny Spain"? That's my coat over there. (I'm amazed Ken missed this opportunity on Sunday tbh.)

Are the faceoff times correct on the OP?
Thought it was 7, 3 and 3?

#RP of Panthers Hockey Live will be tweeting updates from all three Panthers games.
He will also be tweeting goals/major updates from the other games, probably on our backup account @nphockeylive2
I will be in Bunkers watching the games on Premier Sports!

We should not have any trouble proceeding through to Round 3, if we don't then someone needs firing. All of the opposition teams are young, average around 22-24. Very very few to none at all, played in a Professional league, and that goes for players on all 3 of the opposition teams.
Only issue we might face is officials and potential agressiveness from the opposition, they won't like being embarassed and they're young, full of hormones and likely to play dirty.
Besides that, should be simple enough. I'd give Miika 1 game over the weekend. Pacl is exceptional compared to these other teams ( i think he's good anyway ) and in all fairness, Green would probably do a solid job.

From what I've seen from the continental cup, the refs can make it near on impossible to beat the opposition, so absolutely nothing is guaranteed here.

Don't want to be a downer here but im hoping we come away not embarrassing ourselves but ultimately out, therefore it will give the club no excuses then to concentrate on what should be the number one priority.... the league...

If we get knocked out then it'll be a monumental embarassment for both the club and for British hockey.

[/quote) I think it will be the other way round, I cannot remember one UK team in these competitions that hasn't run into penalty trouble through being supposedly aggressive. The European teams do not like the rough stuff & how many times have we come away losing because of this. They are not going to want the home team to lose so it will be interesting. Let's wait and see.

how does this Latvian team compare to the one we played in the previous CC in 2013-14. They gave us a pretty hard game as I recall.

According to the Interweb, they're the Latvian League affiliate of the Dinamo Riga KHL team, which I think was what the last lot were too. So could end up being quite similar? Edit - looked up the old thread, they were Riga Juniors, who I don't think exist anymore.

Perhaps not - I didn't know of the Dinamo Riga connection I must say. I'm guessing they'll have plenty of young guys destined for the big club? Saying that, an OK Panthers team beat Riga Jrs - admittedly at home and with a highlight performance.
I'd expect us to do a number on the Spanish and the Turks tbh, perhaps a bit arrogant but I'd be disappointed if we didn't. Probably comes down to that early Sunday game.
I'm still thinking we'll get through the group.
