Glad it's not just me - thought I might be going mad when I kept saying to people that as I remember Mac has always pulled his keeper at random times in the game (not just at end of 3rd period) to try to jump start his team/shake out a goal. Nobody else seems to recall this though? Clearly doesn't always work but it's entertaining! I've often thought McSorley may be a little mad though Someone behind him in Block 15 suggested he pull the goalie and he did it quite soon after !

We could say that Hewitt fired the puck at Corey, which I know technically he didn't, but if you can't beat em join em!! I think he probably did aim at Corey. Hewitt and Thomas are usually the last ones off warm up for the Steelers and Hewitt tried to mess with Corey's (warmup) shot at the net at a few games last season. Can't remember which one but seem to recall pucks were being fired down the ice at each other at one warm up late last season.

He appears to have been cut from the Fresno Falcons just before they played their first game three weeks ago. At the same time they acquired Stauffacher who's just joined Manchester Phoenix.
On the good side, Fresno described him like this when signing him:
Coach Matt Thomas is excited about Hay, a player who scores points and loves to hit. "It is important for us to have a veteran forward like Dwayne Hay on this hockey team. His NHL and AHL experience offers veteran wisdom to our team on and off the ice that will surely benefit this year's roster. Dwayne is a physical hockey player who can also put up points. It is a great combination to have a veteran points guy on your team who likes to punish his opponents."

The only goal Cov scored was from a mistake by Macca, A mistake from macca but also a line change that went wrong. Ryan was behind Macca and could have stopped the break but skated off to change. If he'd stayed on, might have been a too many men penalty though.

As for Levers great first goal, as Fankhouser took all the angle away, but Levers saw the 'daylight'. We were wondering if the thing that got him the goal was that the puck was on its edge when he hit it. Is that a knuckle puck?

Ice time?
Does anyone else get the impression that it's not just ice time but also ££££? If you play the first leg at home, there's still everything to play for. If the second leg is at home, would it be as big a crowd if we were down by two or more goals (heaven forbid) from the first leg ? I don't think so.
The home leg v Newcastle was coincidentally in the middle of a home game drought at the NIC. Ice time, ££££ or both ?

For you Statisticians out there, according to the Elite Web Page Stats. Sam Bullas also got 2 mins PIM. There was just one of them getting that last penalty (think it was Joe Graham as in Rumpole's list rather than SB), the McAslan penalty was given to and sat by Shmyr so the gamesheet must have had the wrong no. written on it.

Just back in from the game.
We played well but didn't have to play very well to beat what was in front of us with Phoenix missing their main scorer, Tallari, and McMillan on D. Fortunately we were able to get the puck past Fankhouser a lot more easily than previously.
Bergin as MOM - well he didn't play badly but I reckon someone said 29 was our MOM and they heard it as 25.

A groin injury which explains how Campbell got the puck in the corner to set up their second.
Can't do a link to the NEP article at the moment.

Three well taken goals especially Matus' breakaway for the shorthander. Sean missed his first shot at the ENG then picked up the puck on the far side and put it in from the angle.
Wooly did great tonight but Mcr will wish they'd tried to make him work harder. We probably benefitted from that being their fifth game in six days.
Only potential bad news is that Jan wasn't out on the ice for the third period.

You shouldn't have a problem. Its unreserved seating apart from blocks allocated to season tickets and away fans. Likely to be more room on next Thursday than at the Panthers game too.

Booking fee of £1.50 for each ticket plus £1.50 per order for postage gets you to £4.50.
Not sure that that's changed from last year.
