PART 1: FINAL League Table -
The 2021/22 Elite League Regular Season Championship is a straight 10-team league with each team facing each other six times – three home and three away for a total of 54 Regular Season games. The League Champion is the team with the highest number of points over the 60-game regular season. * Play-Off competition qualifiers Place | Team | GP | REG win | OT win | PS win | Reg loss | OT loss | PS loss | GF | GA | - | GD | Points | 1 | *Belfast | 54 | 37 | 3 | 3 | 9 | 1 | 1 | 224 | 108 | | +116 | 88 | 2 | *Sheffield | 54 | 31 | 5 | 1 | 10 | 3 | 4 | 202 | 138 | | +64 | 81 | 3 | *Cardiff | 54 | 30 | 2 | 3 | 15 | 3 | 1 | 188 | 131 | | +57 | 74 | 4 | *Nottingham | 54 | 22 | 3 | 0 | 24 | 4 | 1 | 163 | 191 | | -28 | 55 | 5 | *Guildford | 54 | 19 | 5 | 1 | 25 | 2 | 2 | 165 | 169 | | -04 | 54 | 6 | *Glasgow | 54 | 21 | 2 | 0 | 24 | 6 | 1 | 150 | 182 | | -32 | 53 | 7 | *Dundee | 54 | 19 | 5 | 1 | 26 | 1 | 2 | 160 | 185 | | -25 | 53 | 8 | *Coventry | 54 | 19 | 1 | 3 | 26 | 2 | 3 | 154 | 173 | | -19 | 51 | 9 | Manchester | 54 | 14 | 1 | 3 | 32 | 3 | 1 | 150 | 210 | | -60 | 40 | 10

During the season EIHL put the team with the least number of games played above another if they are tied on points. I don't, there is not certainty a team with games in hand will get points and so I stick to regulation wins thus far to separate. Especially as this is the formulae at seasons end with EIHL. Part 3: Injuries & SuspensionsTo track the roster composition and absences from the roster throughout the season. Roster Rules [EIHL]Homegrown: A player who has been registered with a UK affiliated league for at least 2 seasons or 24 months prior to their 18th birthday, or the end of the season in which they turned 18. Group Stage games are scheduled to be completed by the end of November. The top team in each group will qualify for the next round plus one extra from the other teams. *********************************************** The 2022 Premier Sports Challenge Cup Here's how the format will work this season. Group Stage There are three groups, each containing three teams. Each team will play the other two teams in their group twice at home and twice away. Group winners will advance directly to the Quarter-Finals as seeds. The remaining five teams shall be ranked according to their points percentage, with those placed 4-8 also advancing to the Quarter-Finals. The team ranked ninth will be eliminated. In the event of a tie, teams will be separated according to the Tie-Break rules. Quarter-Finals Group winners are seeded according to their points percentage in the group stage. The Quarter-Finals will then be played as follows: 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5. Matchups will be contested over two legs with aggregate scoring determining the winners. Semi-Finals The highest-ranked team left in the competition will play the lowest-ranked, while the second highest-ranked will play the second lowest-ranked. It is a revised one off game (due to cancelled games in the calendar because of covid) whereas any possible overtime will be 10 minutes 3 on 3 in line with the play-offs. Final The 2022 Premier Sports Challenge Cup Final shall be played as a one-off event in March 2022. Note: in all playoff rounds, the higher seeded team has the option of playing the second leg at home. ********************************** Fixtures Group A 25/09/21 Dundee 3 Belfast 6 26/09/21 Fife 1 Belfast 5 01/09/21 Belfast 2 Dundee 0 02/10/21 Fife 1 Dundee 6 03/10/21 Dundee 4 Belfast 2 08/10/21 Fife 0 Belfast 2 09/10/21 Dundee 3 Fife 2 PS 10/10/21 Belfast 6 Fife 2 23/10/21 Dundee 3 Fife 4 24/10/21 Belfast 4 Dundee 3 PS 30/10/21 Belfast 4 Fife 1 31/10/21 Fife 5 Dundee 0 Place | Team | GP | Reg win | OT win | PS win | Reg loss | OT loss | PS loss | GF | GA | ------- | GD | Points | 1 | Belfast | 8 | 6 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 31 | 14 | Qualified | +17 | 14 | 2 | Dundee | 8 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 22 | 26 | Qualified | -4 | 7 | 3 | Fife | 8 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 16 | 29 | Qualified | -13 | 5 |

Second season 1947-48 3...Third season (similar to this seasons choice for an anniversary) C) Early Champions
1898 - 1931 Early British ‘Champions’ Champions have been crowned in English ice hockey since 1898. Many of the English Club Championships were awarded to the team that had the best results in games versus other squads by the end of the season. Some years a final match was arranged to crown the champion. If no challenger appeared, the winner from the previous season would retain the championship "unchallenged". Beginning with the first championship in 1898, the club champion was awarded the Admiral Maxse Challenge Cup (also referred to as the Prince's Cup), donated by Princes Ice Hockey Club owner, Admiral Maxse. In 1903, the English Ice Hockey League - the first organised hockey league in all of Europe - was founded. It was composed of five teams and ran for one season, 1903-04, with the London Canadians winning the sole league title. After the demise of the English League, champions were once again awarded via the "top club team" method. In 1911, a one-off "British Championship" was contested between Princes Ice Hockey Club and the Oxford Canadians. It was won by Oxford 11-2. Club championships then continued through to 1914, when hockey was put on hiatus due to World War I. PART 12: NOTES A) Most important news. Scroll onto PART 9 and its link to my latest book on Ice Hockey and see how NOTTINGHAM have done over the history of the sport.. B) ELITE GRS of 1st challenge match v Cardiff dated Saturday 11th September has an error. Note: Baillargeon DID NOT PLAY, so scratch from record. C) Elite's GRS within match reports have gone astray on the OS as of 15/9/21 which is a pity when they told fans it would be added , yet lasted only one weekend. It was a good touch but didn't continue. Should have done this for all the pre-season game period. However notifying fans of their 'casebook' -and rule changes is good.
D) Nice touch - love the way the season started remembering those fans we have lost in the last period since supporters were together here. I recognised at least three I knew of. Very sad. Well done for the way it was done.
E) Sign of the times? No programmes now (and it also seems calendars), just an online edition, its just not bringing any profit in I guess and THAT is all that concerns the club it seems.
F) With the new changes, Elite taking control of stats and our fantastic game night officials having less to do. I applaud the club for keeping the goal judges on board to add to the nights experience. Too many new fangled operational changes ready to go wrong with no hard copy back up?
G) Elite GRS of 1st challenge match v Sheffield with differing N/M time on ice and player Pims missing but worse still 2nd match v Sheffield (away) has no SOG at all and no minder change details. Hoping this isn't a regular thing for this season again as the last one in 2019-20. H) A Positive as the club seem to be doing live streaming now for all/most games, however ( a negative) the Twitter match announcements seem to continue to be meagre. Though the price may be a query (different clubs vary in content/ability) as is standard its better than nothing, less you charge for a 'free' stream possibly Sheffield (tongue in cheek) ...ouch. I) The league seem to be making us aware of changes from the games original GRS in their 'news' bulletins. But it has to be asked why a 'stats company' is reviewing possible requests for stats change at a clubs request when Elite themselves could be checking, it seems to takes an age to get the final GRS. I know of people who are very astute towards this chore but I know the sport is not keen to hear from them when trying to help. What will happen in future when we don't have full match reviews available? Notorious for poor errors, Elite are thankfully making changes at some stage and the fact they are telling some days after a game (games in a week Monday to Sunday assumed) us is great but comments made already seem to be of a 'concern'...'Half a job' is one such comment 'Changing goals and assists should automatically come with a check that those people are actually on the ice....' It is a fact that Elite do not embrace supporters awareness and anyone emailing them are not responded to. Therefore for your understanding (as we have highlighted before) re league game v Coventry 2nd October goal one, delete assist Myers for Betteridge and goal 2, delete assist Norrish for Boivin. re cup game v Manchester 3rd October goal 2, delete assist Tousignant for Brassard and Myers, goal 3, delete Clarke-Pizzo for Norrish and goal 5, delete Boivin and Norrish for Domingue and Lee.
J) The Elite CUP group A is in error as the Dundee v Fife result was a PS win for Dundee yet this does not show. They have just has added as a win/loss onto those columns incorrectly. - now corrected days later and Fife given their rightful point in the table. Now see M below.K) For clarity this time (as I won't repeat further errors) the Elite have made changes to GRS after games and weekly they do inform us via the OS news bulletins that this has been done. However, though they report this to us they don't seem to change their own player stats after that. Thus as regards Nottingham they have several player assists wrong. Namely Betteridge, Boivin, Brassard, Domingue, Kelsall, Lane, Norrish, Sauranta and Tousignant. Times this by possible nine other teams stats and its a mess. But be assured ours on this thread are correct from THEIR game sheets that have been changed. NB) they may never correct these so pointless me stating any further errors, just go to our 'player stats' and entrust in those figures from now on folks. L) Another moan from me here as regards the GRS. When a game goes into OT like the 16/10/21 Cup game v Sheffield , why does the Goalie Summary show CARR as being in net 60mins when he had 2min 55secs thereafter? Would have thought, though we see this is 'Goalie Changes' it would be added. M) Oh dear oh dear, the group A Cup table has Dundee as having won three games regulation and none in the OTW column (again) when (and shown by the Elites own gamecentre of results) the Stars have won one game in penalty shots versus Fife on the 9th of October. How many mistakes are too many. (see J above) which also has Fife now with only two points when they clearly have three. Now seen as corrected on 26/10/21.Good.Good grief Coventry are STILL playing Guildford tonight (2 periods gone) and Elite are ahead of themselves giving both SIX games played in the mini league as the table show FIVE obvious game figures within it. Corrected once the game ended and result added.N) Congratulations this month of October to Jordan Kelsall on his 100th game for the club. Oliver Betteridge for his 50th goal.Mark Matheson reaches 50pims all-time.
O) Congratulations this month of November to Ollie Betteridge who claims his 100th point and 400th game for the club and Josh Tetlow who has played his 200th game.
P) If the Elites own ranking for the League and Cup after points is 'the most regulation wins' then why are they not using this format in the Challenge Cup group tables? Considering the Guildford/Cardiff/Coventry group at the present time where Guildford are placed second behind Cardiff.
Q) Congratulations this month of December to Ollie Betteridge who gained his 50th ASSIST with the club and Mark Matheson with his 100th game. Mathiew Tousignant reaches 50 pims. Betteridge also moves into all-time 17th place appearances for the club, overtaking Gavin Fraser. R) Keep an eye on Biglad's fixture changes, recently due to 'Covid Protocols' three teams, Belfast, Dundee and Nottingham ( and now Guildford) are subject to match cancellations. This is in addition to usual fixture changes seen in a season. By the New Year Fife as well as Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield and Coventry all under covid protocol. I worry of the season. S) Noticed those 'changes' made post game on the GRS (notified to us via news on the OS) - have ceased , at least for the week that they were due for our games 11th and 12th. Forgotten about? Busy at HQ but forgotten to mention this to us? TO ADD, awaiting tonight's 26th Dec'21 half filled (as regards sog) GRS from the game Sheffield v Nottingham. Terrible , can't understand. Today 2/1/22- Noticed the Decembers 'changes' have now been done (without notification within the OS news bulletins) I assume our game v Manchester 1/1/22 also done as part of this 'purge' but as we didn't score there is little to worry about. NO SOG change in the 26/12/21 game v Sheffield oddly, so taking 29 (player shots) as the total. Also the 'OS 'player stats ' will be in a shambles as they are presumably taken from the OS 'events' details which are void of these changes?T) Longest servant to Nottingham Panthers and in managerial role for any club. GARY MORAN has passed away today 27/12/21 after a short fight with cancer. U) A note for you about 'Empty net goals' (ENG). When a net minder leaves the ice for an extra player and the opposition score into the net. Though the team may have had 26 'shots on goal' (SOG) the minder will have recorded 25 as he was not on the ice for that goal. Similar the goal will not go against his stats. However for four games where there has been an ENG the 'Game Summary' (on the GRS) tally of shots that should equal the number of shots by players and thus one sog less for the minder. For one of our four games, 28/11/21, the tally is not equal and one has to ask if the player sog tally (25) is correct or the game summary at 26, therefore a query as to the minders stats. Was it 25 or 24? These are the kind of flaws we are dealing with. Same with penalty shots but we shall not go into all that, maybe later when it raises its ugly head. V) Congratulations this month of January to Christophe BOIVIN for reaching his 50th Point and 50th game for us. Myers moves into 17th place in all-time goals overtaking Shaun McAslan and has over 750 Pims all-time. Plus has moved into 13th place all-time regards 'points' overtaking Corey Nielson. Kevin CARR has moved into 14th place all-time regards TOI passing Frank Killen.
W) 22/1/22 game versus Sheffield (League) away, has Domingue in the line up on the OS GRS. HE DID NOT PLAY.
29/1/22 game versus Belfast (League) away, has Hedberg in the line up on the OS GRS. HE DID NOT PLAY X) To add to the complexity of it all. Changes to the past games that are usually done week by week , sometimes noting the odd game which has also been changed a second time...not great but ok. Well now we have changes eg) v Manchester 31st Dec having more changes done. So this game obviously had changes made to Manchester only originally but only now has had Panthers changes done. Why not all at once? Y) Congratulations this month of February as Matt MYERS moves into 6th place past Paul Adey All-Time in appearances (claiming his 600th game and 250th assist) and Oliver BETTERIDGE moves into 15th past Lorne Smith in the same category. Kevin CARR also moves into All-Time 10th TOI passing O'Connor, Chris Keward, Mike Garnett and Brian Cox. Mathieu TOUSIGNANT celebrates his 50th game. Z) A friend noticed that someone has -1 (that's minus one) in assists in a game on 9th Jan. on the Elite statistics now. www.eliteleague.co.uk/player/33-joshua-tetlow/game-log And no indication as to if GRS have been changed since 5th February. Corrected after some time has passed.AA) Congratulations in this month of March when Kevin Carr moves into All-Time 8th place re TOI passing Mikka Wiikman and Jordon Willis. HE also has achieved 100 games on Ice as Kelsall achieves his 150th too. Ollie Betteridge is now 14th all-time in appearances moving past Graham Waghorn.
BB) NO notification of GRS 'changes/alterations' since 5th February yet Hedburgh has had an assist taken off of him , what a set up. No indication as to when/if this is to be sorted. No communication. CC) The forum carries a thread on Elite/OS blunders of which the latest bodes the question , who is writing up material on an official site and getting it all wrong? The latest states that after tonight's (25/3/22 win Dundee go 4th in the League table. They do not as WE (Nottingham) are still in fourth. Is anyone responsible able to get these things right. Big headlines getting things wrong so many times. Title changed but still shows 4th in the written word.DD) Ollie Betteridge on Injured replacement (IR) for maybe the rest of the season. First injury causing missing of a game ever as the club say, maybe he obviously mentioned it. Also Kevin Carr and Jordan Kelsall onto the IR list. EE) Congratulations this April to Joshua TETLOW on his 250th game, Christophe Boivin on his 50th assist and Kevin Domingue on his 50th for Nottingham. Mark Matheson with his 100th point for the club and Matt Myers moving into 5th place all-time with 620 appearances, 4 games behind Chick Zamick. Kevin Carr moves into all-time 7th TOI for Panthers FF) New club 'off ice' office 'Fan Liasion' replies to email x2 that I have sent. An improvement at least in supporter communication. GG) The club pronounce Boivin as the best Points scorer for the season. Well by the end of the league it was Welsh not Boivin. How can they get this wrong? If it were for the whole season this may be true, both on 68 points with one playing one game less before you factor pims. Do you also take that from TOI or assume that being a negative sitting in the sin bin for your team? HH) For the first PO game the GRS has TOUSIGNANT on there but he DID NOT PLAY. II) The season ends on a low note because we are out of the play offs and our last game has been played but the way we lost less than 4.29 to go letting in two goals and losing from 2-1 up 'SUMS' up the season. More GRS sheets have been altered by the Elite mathematicians (perhaps more due) and its time to count up, re-check and and finalise myself. So some numbers have been changed presently and maybe in the next week or so. When complete I will state in the thread. Whatever, it has been a poor season all round, if not but for the sad tail of Elites presentation of statistics once more throughout the season but it finished a lot better than expected. JJ) and.....there ends our thread for this season. maybe next season we will have that brighter future we have been looking for, for so long with the appointment of Omar Pacha as CEO within the club. Fans seems to be taking it in well and that's got to be good for starters.

Re Part 12 comments (my statement)
Ice Hockey is a fast game and also incorporates a lot of statistics. The Game Record Sheet (GRS) is thus a vital tool for recording numbers.
Bar the fact that the Goalie changes detail is very poor (has been better on previous sheets) the reality is that due to the way the game is played it can be difficult to get everything right all the time when recording stats. It is however, obviously vital to get the correct detail.
So what's been happening all these past seasons? Well, evidence shows that mistakes are made but when you have vigilant and very supporter 'anorak' types who can spot these it would be good to have them on board with EIHL you'd think, to help put things right, people who are willing to aid improvement by alerting of the errors. Yet, supporters who have contacted the league to 'make point' on errors have only received the same as others when contacting them. That be NO reply at all. Of course when your a big concern and have all your officialdom working on things why would you want outsiders contacting you to tell you how rubbish you are at your job. But as has been said people doing this have done so in order to help, yet no reply was had even to say 'we understand of this error and are working on it, thanks'.
But the main concern is that it goes weeks before anything is changed OR not changed at all and thus the reason why unofficial competent people were making contact. No point in having these stats on record if they are to be left as wrong statements of a game with the official website showing all this to the public domain. We should be concerned in selling the sport to others. Reason for the blurb on part 12 today.

This is typical and it's only the start of this season and thus you can imagine why people are so frustrated. ONLY going to mention this once but it explains (complicatedly for those not into stats) how the Elite are in such a mess with game details. This will continue throughout the season. ************************************** An email to me from a dedicated statistician. "You've identified a can of worms here, Mick. This is where I think the problems have arisen: League 26 Sept: Panthers 1 Dundee 2 Player stats, Events and GRS all tally, showing Norrish as 0+1 and Boivin as 0+0. www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3339-not-dun/statswww.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3339-not-dun/eventseihlhq.co.uk/pdf/print/de-html/23772 Oct: Panthers 2 Coventry 5: There's a discrepancy between the Player stats on the one hand and the Events / GRS on the other regarding the secondary assist on Panthers' second goal: Player stats: www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3341-not-cov/stats - Norrish shown as 0+1, Boivin as 0+0 Events / GRS: www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3341-not-cov/events / eihlhq.co.uk/pdf/print/de-html/2382 - secondary assist on second goal is credited to Boivin, not Norrish This discrepancy has fed through to the overall League player stats: www.eliteleague.co.uk/team/12-nottingham-panthers/player-stats?id_season=34, where Norrish is shown as 0+2 and Boivin as 0+0. If the GRSs are taken as correct, Norrish should be 0+1 overall for the League, not 0+2, and Boivin should be 0+1 for the League, not 0+0. All other totals in the overall League player stats (https://www.eliteleague.co.uk/team/12-nottingham-panthers/player-stats?id_season=34) are correct as far as I can see. Challenge Cup 9 Oct: Panthers 3 Manchester 1 Player stats, Events and GRS all tally: www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3622-not-man/statswww.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3622-not-man/eventseihlhq.co.uk/pdf/print/de-html/23913 Oct: Manchester 3 Panthers 7: There are numerous discrepancies in the EIHL figures between the Events / Player Stats on the one hand and the GRS on the other re Panthers' first, second, fifth and sixth goals: Events / Player stats: www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3618-man-not/events / www.eliteleague.co.uk/game/3618-man-not/statsGRS: eihlhq.co.uk/pdf/print/de-html/2387The GRS does not tally with the Events and Player stats in respect of the following: a) Goal 1: GRS misses the secondary assist to Lane b) Goal 2: GRS has Brassard instead of Tousignant for the first assist c) Goal 5: GRS has Domingue instead of Betteridge for the first assist d) Goal 6: GRS misses the secondary assist to Kelsall The overall Challenge Cup player stats (https://www.eliteleague.co.uk/team/12-nottingham-panthers/player-stats?id_season=35) reflect the data in the Events and Player stats, not the data in the GRSs. This, as you say, leads to multiple discrepancies in tallies for individual players. **** Three points: A) For the 2 Oct League game v Coventry, it was the Player stats not tallying with Events / GRS. For the 3 Oct CC game v Manchester, it was the GRS not tallying with the Events / Player stats. I find this odd. There is obviously some sort of disconnect between the GRS, the Events and the Player stats whereby changes in one are not automatically reflected in the others. That is a recipe for chaos when retrospective changes are made on post-game review. You would have thought that any change made to the GRS should automatically lead to changes in the Events and Player Stats ... b) Following on from this, the discrepancies in the 3 Oct game makes me doubtful - this looks more like a case of changes being made to the Events and Player Stats independently of the GRS. c) I do think that overall player stats are generated automatically from individual game stats - but, if there are any errors in the individual game stats, these are obviously going to be reflected in overall stats.
