Just wanted to say thank you to all who welcomed Elliot and I last night when they saw us walk in the far end. And for the cash donations/handshakes/hugs/smiles outside after the game. Nearly there, 13 more miles to go. #foramy

How hard is it to put a camera at the red line ? This Sheffield webcast is pants filmed from inside one of the blue lines and with so many adverts on the ice ! Very. There are a total of 3 plug sockets in the bowl, non are on the red line. Plus, there is nowhere to stand the camera which can only go in the disabled bay which also happens to be were the TV wiring sockets are and the power sockets. We would love to move it, but the rewiring alone would cost a fortune. :-)

Tactics Shorty, they use any trick they can up there to upset the opposition, their players probably get told well before that it's going to be delayed. (; Are you questioning my integrity? ;-) It's me that does the telling, and as soon as I hear it in my ear over the radio the teams are told, the Panthers were the first team to be told tonight as I was walking past your dressing room when the call came. :-)

I do hope that those of yours who embarrass you by disrespecting the anthem lay of this week.
Should be a good game, both teams are in good form and I hope it's good exciting affair.

We have enough. The idea is to use an established EIHL ref, with a younger upcoming lad or lass from around about.
Worked well for the pre-season games.

I don't get your confusion.
This is an IIHF ban, the player has to miss games. Only the EIHL insist that bans are imposed on the 'import slot' so this ban, being non EIHL does not affect the team. As verified by not only IHUK but the IIHF themselves.
If he had been banned by the EIHL, we would play short, but he hasn't been, so we don't have to.
This has never been anything different.
People are getting confused because of Campbell's ban in 2010, but that was different. He received 4 games, 3 of which were imposed by the EIHL, and 1 game by the IIHF as a result of an infringement in Australia. We played an import short for 4 games because: A, 3 games were EIHL so we had to. B, Although we could have played a replacement for his 1 game IIHF ban, who would we sign for 1 game? And we didn't have a spare import at the time.
Hope that clears it up.
EIHL bans - affect the import slot on a team. IIHF bans - affect the player only, like every other sport.

so taking another team's star player is ok then then kgw? regardless of whether or not they need the money the principle is wrong and something i am pretty glad that panthers seem to take a dim view on doing themselves.. Hahahahahahahahaha. That's funny.

Hicks has an interesting interpretation of the rules. The netminder interference call on Jensen was outstanding. The boarding call on Kalus? Borderline, the smack to the head of Kalus by Baldwin? Nothing. Also, he whistled play dead (once for each team) for netminder freezing the puck when it was clearly still in play. Makes no difference if it's in play or not mate, if the ref loses sight of the puck, the game stops. And that's not just around the net, it's anywhere on the ice. :-)

Isn't it funny how the result affects your perception of the game? Totally discounting Steelers fans, reading various forums and social media of people who watched on telly, there isn't a single derogatory comment about the game, other than some Panthers fans. In fact, the consensus so far is that it was the best TV game yet and a fantastic advert for the league. The atmosphere was noted as sounding 'incredible'.
Personally, I thought it was a cracking game from both teams, and you couldn't have pushed a rizla paper between them. End to end, gritty but not needlessly/pointlessly aggressive and balls out from both. Both tendys were outstanding, with Conways point-blank stop on Sirriani an absolute stunner.
Both teams left everything on the ice for me tonight, great game to watch. It was fun playing 'spot my Panther mates' in the crowd too when the cameras panned around, I spotted 7.
Your goal to tie the game dispels the 'going through the motions' argument for me, OK, he was clear through but he was also out wide; if he couldn't be bothered he would have just put the puck round the boards and skated for a change.
Just my thoughts, have a good new year folks, both our teams will want better in 2014, both on the ice and in the physio room.

We fluked a win in the summer by virtue of being marginally less crap than the Aussies. Cook is the worst captain we have had in a long time, and will now be remembered as the captain that lost the Ashes after 7 years.
Time to retire the old guard and build again around the likes of Root, Bairstow etc.
Cook must be sacked on his return home, not good enough.

Live commentating is a skill, I'm sure Murph will settle in to it. He has the enthusiasm and knowledge, just needs to work on delivery. I think it was a good first effort, but not as polished as the Sky show was just yet.

Sadly the green eyed envy from some of the Steelers is starting to shine through. This classic has been posted on Steeltalk by someone called 'SteelerBlue' "Well the Pussy Cats have progressed but I can't say I saw any sexy hockey. Today it was a case of using experience and brawn to bully a technically competent but lighter weight Riga side. And David Clarke seems to be getting very flakey in his more mature years! I used to like him as a good honest Brit, but now he seems to tumble, dive and embellish any sort of light contact as if he's been brutally man handled. He ain't the only one either. At one point a Riga player was called for holding the stick, quite how this caused the Cat player to dive like a swan coming into land I don't know? !?! Anyway well done, but I think it'll be harder in Italy." Of course it's going to be harder SteelerBlue. It's the semi-finals, which are by definition harder than the quarters. We are going to find it harder in the quarters just like you did last yea.......oh, no, you didnt qualify :-) I would be careful about starting down that line mate, the Steelers and Belfast have both made the actual Super-Finals of this tournament in previous years (2003-Giants, 2010/11-Steelers) In fact, if memory serves a certain Kelsey Wilson scored against us in the final for Red Bull whatsit I think? Anyway. A MASSIVE well done to the Panthers, were it not for commitments yesterday and working tonight obviously, I would have liked to come and watch some. I think you did well and my man at the games tells me you are deserved winners. Have fun in Italy, and I for one hope you get through that as well. It will be a trip to remember regardless. :-)

This weekend you will represent us all. Good luck.
If you could see your way to winning it, the rest of us would be grateful, if then you went on to win the next stage, we would all be ecstatic.....

Where did I say I was offended? The players may/may not have known what they were doing due to their nationality but the organisation that continued to state that they were only showing what they'd won and had further pictures taken at a later date of players doing the same thing was British. As for a certain GM doing it. Two wrongs don't make a right, I never said they did. One doesn't justify the other. Anyway, let's get this back to Phil Hill, I've had my moment in the sun and apologies to all (especially the mods - feel free to give me a warning if you see fit) for dragging it so far off topic. Just yankin your chain mate :-)

At the end of the day why should we believe anything that comes from the Sheffield Steelers organization? The people who claimed players making abusive gestures to opposing fans were simply telling them how many cups they'd won that year (two) Oh you poor little violet you :-( www.bbcamerica.com/mind-the-gap/2013/01/29/10-things-americans-dont-realize-are-offensive-to-brits/Seriously though, this was done to death at the time, in the US it simply means 2. Now a club GM born and bred in the UK, turning to the paying public at the Arena and giving out the very same sign from the Panthers bench........ ;-)

As the bans are for four offences, do the bans run concurrently or consecutively?
