Home game so it'll be 20-0 to us and be great performance. So long as they stop at 20, firstly because any more would be against Simmsy's code, and secondly because our score graphics for the thread header only go up to 20.

Can't see us winning this one to be honest - really short handed and now with Capraro being released it will be even tougher - I know he never fitted in but he was an extra body - roll on the time when we are at full strength and then we will hopefully see what this team is capable of.

Ready for a whitewash and season well and truly killed off. Why we got rid of an extra body before the game I'll never know.

I can see the release of Capraro being a mental strategy to kick the others up the backside. Once they see that their jobs are on the line, they SHOULD start panicking thinking who's next.

Ready for a whitewash and season well and truly killed off. Why we got rid of an extra body before the game I'll never know. really only see a Panthers win in this one, always very strong at home, especially against a very inconsistent side like Steelers have proven to be this season. The one thing I really cannot understand is the coach cutting a player 24hrs before a big game like this. Personally cant comment on what kind of season Capraro was having, but with injuries you would have thought he would have been kept until a replacement was actually walking into the NIC. Panthers had 16 player + 2 net minders for the game in Sheffield, so admitted you have injuries but other team have been shorter benched this season and done extremely well, Braehead being the obvious one. Main problem I see is the lack of D signed this year, but im sure you don't need reminding of this. Panthers to win 4-1

I thought we battled really well tonight and IMO the better team lost. I think the forwards got the balance right and Francis's goal was superb. With the players we were missing a gritty performance.
Think the steelers celebration at the end was a bit o.t.t - but hey ho!
Thought Benny was m.o.m and logged big minutes.

A boring, pointless game.
You can kinda tell that both teams know they're out of the race and are just going through the motions already.
A few things that struck me:
1. Our lack of d is killing us, not only because of lack of d, but also because we basically lose Benedict. It's like losing 2 import slots. The team we're putting out at the moment is effectively about 3-4 imports short 2. Matt Ryan should probably be next to go. 2-1 down with not long left and he's joking around a couple of seconds before he's taking a face off. No surprise that he wasn't ready when a chance came his way immediately after. You can tell he's just not in "the zone" 3. Kalus needs to decide whether he's bothered or not. Has the talent to destroy this league, but isn't, unless we're winning. 4. Conway is nowhere near a league winning nettie. Decent, but nowhere near good enough. 5. Goertzen is good. Proper hockey player and unbelievably quick, particularly for his size.

Thought Dowd was outstanding tonight

Not quite sure which game hicks was watching tonight.
Dowds hit on boxill, I'm not quite sure how that wasn't checking to the head. The Baldwin and kalus incident, didn't realise you could now get away with punching players, and when lensen gets rammed into Doyle then gets called for goalies interference was a joke. Ah well seasons over, games are now just for a bit of fun really. Roll on tomorrow

Thought Dowd was outstanding tonight Yeah Dowd showed a few decent flashes tonight, but it's about the first time I've been impressed. I think he's the biggest reason Steelers are struggling this season. They put all their money on him and he's actually not that great, and certainly isn't producing - he's being outscored by Lacho, who I think is having a poor season by his standards. Less than a point a game for someone who is apparently the highest paid player in Elite league history just isn't good enough.

Definitely do not agree wbout Kalus. He had a lot of ice time and was checking and harrying and put a lot of effort in. Great skill when he took the puck down when it was in mid air and could have produced a goal. Conway I thought was progressing nicely, but if anything has gone backwards of late. Steelers again had plenty of bodies in front of Doyle. Quite a few mistakes from both sides I thought, who are well behind Belfast.

But I have to strongly disagree on Kalus, I think he is a brilliant player and one of our best play makers, the amount of cheap shots he took tonight was ridiculous he seemed to have a target on his back.

Good points Frannys goal. Bad points the rest of it. No passion, a dull game played by a poor team and a poorer one. Where's the fire, the will to win, the energy? It was missing tonight. Yes it was going to be difficult to replace the team from last season but this team is a serious downgrade. Come on CN admit you got it wrong with some of these players. Salters is a tough guy but is one of the top scorers but tonight he should have been roughing them up and getting under their skin.
What was with their celebration at the end? You'd have thought they had won the league and play offs not just a below average game. So lets see what excuses are given for that performance and after two boring games between the teans hows gm the gm going to hype up the biggest rivalry in Europe?
