Hasn't he been a little bit injury prone the past season or two?
Would still be a decent pick up though

Obviously this'll save wages, and maybe if they deem Hill as undeserving of his so far then fair enough, but surely at this stage he's impossible to replace (being from Blighty n'all)? Seems a bit odd.

that is a surprise, never thought a team would release a quality brit. Not sure how they plan on replacing him.
I wonder if he will turn us down and sign for Sheffield.

4th line of Saari/Boxhill/Hill this weekend wouldn't go amiss...

His injury last season was as a result of being hit on his wrist by an errant stick playing for GB. Something that could happen to anyone.
He has connections with Nottingham as well.
I would be disappointed if we were not in talks with him.

My initial reaction was one of suprise, which I think others confirm. Maybe Adams feels he has to be seen to be doing something to keep Regan happy. I feel it looks a bit like a panic measure, as has been already pointed out decent Brits are not easy to pick up.

Like Shorty has said if we aren't trying to get him I'll be disappointed. Not saying we would be his first choice but surely we are in with a shout.

The main question for me is will we want to pay what he will be looking for? I have no idea what his wages were at Cardiff but considering his status as a GB international and with the experience he has I'd expect him to be on significant money.
No doubt he'd be a solid addition to the team but would he be worth it financially?

If we sign him, where do we play him? Who do we drop/play less in his place?

If we sign him, where do we play him? Who do we drop/play less in his place? It's a good question. It would be a shame to drop/play less of any one of the current players at this moment in time but it would be a shame also if we missed out on Hill as I think he would make a good addition to the team.

Could always sign him on a 'trial' basis for the weekend and take it from there.. but would he be willing to do that, who knows..

If we sign him, where do we play him? Who do we drop/play less in his place? My thoughts exactly. Sure he's an incredible player, but I dunno if I'd like to see anyone we've got get dropped/reduced shifts.

Been a terrible start to the season for Cardiff, their fans seemed so confident going into this year, some of them even to the point of being a bit bullish

I think Myers and Hill are too similar in style of play, and Hill is subsequently paying the price.
I'm not sure we have replaced Myers in this seasons team, but strength in numbers over the season has to be a positive.

Been a terrible start to the season for Cardiff, their fans seemed so confident going into this year, some of them even to the point of being a bit bullish You could say this about sheffield also, difference being sheffield are throwing money at it and cardiff are blaming their coach... I wouldn't say it's been a disastrous start, but it certainly is a little disappointing. Our biggest issue to date has been injuries, which is why we keep signing players. I've always said the problem with having injuries is that it often leads to additional injuries due to double shifting players. By bringing in reinforcements we've at least managed to avoid our injury crisis getting any worse. By my reckoning, to date we've lost: Kohn - Traffic accident followed by an ankle injury. Been in and out of the team, but not had a decent run of games yet and currently still out injured. Langlais - Missed pre season and only returned in the last couple of weeks. Meyers - Out long term....Groin I think Lacroix - Started great and was our top goalscorer, but suffered a long term injury. Dowd - Missed part of pre season and has been in and out with a groin strain. Galiardi - Injured last Saturday against Belfast and missed the Sunday game (although we had a full compliment of imports for that game). I would think to date we've lost more players to injury than you did in the entirety of last season. The additional signings have been brought in to avoid the injuries completely rail roading our season before it gets going. At a guess I would think we'll release 1 import when Kohn and Galiardi return, leaving us with 1 spare and the long term injury victim Lacroix. Regards Doom

Injury cover or not Doom they still cost money and in some cases considerable money plus what is widely thought of as the most expensive brit in the league (along with an already pretty expensive set of GB team brits anyway Meyers, Philips and thomas to quote 3), on top of what must have been a substantial wage bill with all the AHL/NHL experience seen throughout the team signed at the start of the season... Personally i think the management are taking the mickey especially as we are told as panthers fans that we cant spend what could/should be available as it isnt fair on the less spending teams in our league. I guess that policy doesnt apply in sheffield eh!!
And now i see that steelers fans want Hill too? Well no point spoiling the boat for a hal'peth of tar, i guess if you are going to go bust you may as well do it in style eh....

I don't know what we're spending, but I'd agree it's probably considerable when you look at the pedigree and number of players on the roster. I'm sure the owner doesn't particularly want to spend the money he has, but the alternative was to leave a short benched team to possibly pick up further injuries, drop off the pace in the league and then see the resultant loss in crowds and revenue. When you picked up a long term injury you quickly signed a replacement. I would guess Mr Black would allow further injury replacements for exactly the same reasons that Tony Smith has backed our coach. I suppose the simple question is will the extra cost in wages be less or more than the loss in revenue if we don't do anything? I'm sure at least one import will be removed from the wage bill as players return from injury. Regards Doom

How many of Sheffield's imports are on uni deals though? That'd significantly reduce the wage bill I'd have thought.
