Another player that Simms has slated stating that he isn't good enough for a top 4 team and now they are looking sign him. Slagged off Langlais last season when he signed for Belfast, now look where he is.

For what it's worth, after watching Langlais this season, he wasn't wrong.

Only team who openly attmept to nick other teams imports rather than go out and get there own, some things never change... As far as I can tell, they approached the club not the player. It's odd how in this league it's looked down on to attempt to sign players already playing in the league. The club has to give their permission, so I don't see any issue with it. Hull have refused, as they are entitled to. Also, you have to appreciate it's got to be hard to replace someone like Sirianni at this point in the season.

so taking another team's star player is ok then then kgw? regardless of whether or not they need the money the principle is wrong and something i am pretty glad that panthers seem to take a dim view on doing themselves..

Surely he can just hand his notice in now, and then sign for steelers in two weeks.

Surely he can just hand his notice in now, and then sign for steelers in two weeks. Not sure that can actually happen... No idea what it says in the mythical EIHL back of fag packet rulebook now, but wasn't it the case only recently that a player could move between EIHL clubs if the club had got rid of him, but not if he'd left the club of his own accord? (unless, of course, the club allows it).

I thought imports could but Brits couldn't. May have changed though

And of course you've never beaten another team to an imports signature have you Tex? Think the answer is above...... But, so what if you do. It happens all the time in football, you only have to look at today.

This is professional sports, it's what happens. If they've made an offer and the club accepts, everyone is a willing participant. Why is anyone at fault? In any event, it's not been accepted so it doesn't matter. I'm inclined to think this happens a lot more often but the offers are not made public.

I sincerely hope that it does happen or the league would just be a big comfortable club. It's a professional sport (supposedly) and that's how sport works.

In the EIHL a team cannot sign a player from another team in the EIHL,unless the player has either been released by his current team,or his current team agree to the transfer. You cannot simply offer another teams player more money and go sign him.

Can't see the problem.
This kind of thing must happen many times throughout the course of a season.
It's just that this one has gone public because Hull released the news. If he's their marquee player then I guess Hull will see this as a good news story for their fans.

But Simms isnt very professional is he?

Simmsy is not the issue,he's just an idiot !
The rule is in place to stop the money teams poaching the surprise packages that other teams may have signed. When Kowalski got injured, how long would a goalie like Bakala have remained at Dundee without at least an approach from Panthers if that rule didn't exist ?

If this is a rule, it cannot apply to eu citizens or it is illegal.
