Could take out 8 league games in your own conference; so then in the league you would play each team in your own conference 6 times (24 games) & in the other conference 4 times. (20 games) Would mean could then do the play offs in groups and so would also lessen the advantage of the easier Gardiner conference. Would also increase the likelyness of the bigger teams making it through to the playoff finals weekend, so they would be against it.

Panthers go through with (not quite) a shut out in second leg.... Unlucky to concede one with 12 secs left in third.
Was trying to buy playoff finals ticket towards end of match, couldn't get any for the final & ended up with two for the semi finals one in block 9 & one in block 10 when was trying to change thing around and only wanted 1. Then website wouldn't wouldn't let me delete either one & all rest in Panthers blocks move to sold out & thought had lost 1 when first timed out; but ended up with payment going through for 2 tickets.
So have spare ticket for Saturday at back of block 10. Bit awkward living in London & won't be in Nottingham until Saturday lunch. But PM if would like to buy ticket for £48.

Same old Steelers always cheating,,,, their way to the title & getting away with it & despite the match being televised. Incompetent officials who couldn't spot it between them either...
Maybe it's allowed to have & score with too many men during a five minute major penalty, in the rulebook Sheffield & Darnell have...

Good news to me. Madz has been the better goal keep recently so why change it up. Stick with what's winning I say. Can't see us beating Steerlers tonight tbf. They can win the league tonight right? If Cardiff slip up @ Manchester they can. A Devils regulation win would take it to Sunday when don't think Panthers would be trying too hard... Shuff will be up in Fife, so not an easy place to go to even if they only need a point against a "tired" Fife team with nothing to play for. Panthers should be up for Sheffield... If Corey doesn't fiddle with the lines then don't see why can't win with the pressure being on them! The last time we played them in Sheffield shows we can stuff them when everything comes together!

Yes with teams taking it in turns to bottle it, Can see Giants who didn't think were in the title race 2-3 weeks ago sneaking this...

Well it's very quiet on this thread for what is the most important matches of the weekend! Blaze lost 6-4 to Manchester yesterday, Stewart now conceded 10 then 5 in last 2 games (Manchester's 6th was an empty netter so not Stewart's fault!!!) Will Panthers face a backlash 2day & a tighter Cov defence, or will it be Stewart's or his defence's fault again this evening? I predict a tighter display from Blaze, but Panthers to sneek it 3-2!

Live in London, so don't get to many Panthers anymore. On way to Coventry which will be my 1st game of season & don't know (tho will ask in pub before) if have chants for the new players? Do follow Nottm Forest as well, went to Bristol for my sins on Friday. Will always be the case that be better atmosphere for away games as will get more the die hard panther fans in the same or adjacent block. Are the "chanting group" Panthers fans not congregating in block 18 this season? Wud struggle to do this for the Steeler games, so it wud be a struggle to get the chants going for long against Shuff!

Steelers deserved to win but not like that. The final call from the ref was absolutely shocking. If your going to call one then call both, both were none calls but to call one over the other with 20 second left in OT should never have happened. Again I will repeat over the 60 mins Steelers played better. Agreed on both: Harsh call - rarely see penalties given in O/T unless very blatant so Panthers players / fans would feel a bit cheated there. Helping hand to the title for the Steelers with that call... Though Steelers were the better team and deserved the win!

As Panthers have lost in OT, Cardiff will now need to win up in Sheffield and quite possibly beat Panthers the following day, to win the league!
So Sheffield v Cardiff pretty much winner takes all, seems fair enough.... With Braehead deversingly nearly out of it now!

I've refreshed - which has put me back with the game on live time, so missing about 4 minutes of action. Already started lagging again though. Will get onto support in 1st period break.

Blimey...I'm thinking about all the options here...Us beat Sheffield after Cardiff win their next game. Then Cardiff beat Sheffield in Yorkshire and we get the flu bug for the last game v Cardiff for a Devils title....lol Then again Cardiff would not need the last win I think less Clan came into it. Depends if they are regulation wins or not, and Clan you'd think would still come into it despite looking like doing their best to throw it away! There's certainly a lot of title permutations going into the final week of the regular season... Could end up with 3 teams level on points & the same number of wins. Clan may just nick it on regulation win if that was the case!

Very well done to Panthers (and Lawrence) for beating Giants. (again!) Thankful that the strange officiating on the fraca following the Cohen slash on Chabak wasn't pivotal. Must be about reputation: "Enforcer" Farmer gets 2+2+2+game when he didn't leave the ice, whilst Keefe who went around punching everyone receives Zilch. The DOPS should be throwing the book at Brookwell! Perhaps look into banning Keefe too, but maybe not as Belfast travel to Braehead next Saturday!

Tickets are not quite sold out, as I've just gone online and bought a ticket in block 7. There's also a good seat available in block 11 remaining, and a front row seat in block 19.

Went quiet here. Await those who were at the match to report back, but sounded like a good 3-1 win against a Blaze team who thrashed the Steelers the previous night. Hope that Jacina and Lawrence who picked up knocks during the match are fine. Oh and Panthers have gone top of the league...

We should be running with a spare D and spare F before the season starts anyway. You know, have a squad to choose from. Keeps players on their toes aswell and to cover them injuries...

"The Department of Player Safety has come to the following conclusions...
• There was a penalty on the play, therefore the play has been deemed illegal • Belfast #62 Kevin Phillips took no further part in the game • Belfast #62 Kevin Phillips has been diagnosed with concussion
The Department of Player Safety has increased the original penalty called on the night to a match penalty for boarding.
Edinburgh have been fined £1,000 for failure to supply the matchnight footage required and, as a result, Emmerson will be banned for 10 matches."
Have to feel sorry for the Caps, appears to be one rule for the bigger teams and one for the smallest team, with the extremes of suspensions handed out thus far..
Phillips could hardly have been concussed if he was back playing 5 days later! Think Giants should be investigated by the Dept of player Safety for playing a concussed player!
Disclipinary decisons seems to be getting stranger and stranger each season...
Will surely get reduced a bit on appeal, with phillips back playing within 7 days as that just makes a mockery of their decison...
If you are playing the same team say weekend then midweek, it could lead to some "lesser" players making the most of being caught by a check, by sitting out the rest of a game after a hit by a "certain" player, if means decent chance it will lead to it being reviewed and a ban handed out!

Erm not quite sure where you are getting your info from but Wembley is one of the easiest places to get to by public transport. There are 3 train stations in wembley and they are on numerous lines. Its actually a massive advantage of playing in wembley, incomparable to the Docklands Many thanks for asking - from 25 years of living, working, commuting and generally trying to travel in and around London on a daily basis!! Nothing like experience over looking on the internet!! (see two can play at the sarcastic comments game &/or make sweeping assumptions without knowing sufficient background about the poster!!) Whilst there are several tube and rail stations do not confuse ease with being well served!! You are not going to get significant numbers of people traveling cross London regularly (be it by public transport or by car, it just takes too long!!! Every home game will be like an away game) to allow a franchise to flourish without significant long term subsidy be that from NB's pocket directly or from a levy across the league. You also need to remember that London doesn't identify with teams that are called London - it is very parochial place comprised of many different districts and areas that each have their own pull and attraction, like Nottingham, Derby and Leicester all being pulled together - tell me honestly whether you would expect huge support for East Midland Panthers playing out of an arena in Loughborough? For that is essentially what a London team playing in Wembley would be like. I reassert that whilst a London team may be good for media profile, it is not going to be overly helpful to the stability of the league unless we completely change and become a southern centric league and dump the Scots Having lived in North London (Enfield area) for four years, can definetly agree with you regards the travel around London. I don't drive, and so use public transport regularly. Have worked both at Wembley stadium and in the docklands area. Wembley is only around 10 minutes quicker for me to reach at around 1 hour 10 mins on a good day, though can add on another 20 - 40 + mins on days when there are tube delays. Then for travel say to Streatham ice rink in South London that have been to a couple of times, it's around the 1 hour 40 mins mark which is slower than going from London to Nottingham on the train. Yes it would mainly be that Geographic area, but think it could be feasible and shouldn't be dismissed. Team would need to be based in the Wembley arena, which is further north than Cardiff and be quicker / easier to get to for a lot of away teams / fans. Would require a lot of marketing, and deals done mind you, or the arena would look pretty empty and needs to become viable financially. Intrestingly Harringey Racers, actually rebranded themselves as London Harringey Racers last season. They play at Alexandra Palace, and sometimes fill out the rink (about 1.000 capacity I think) due to having a lot of half price adult tickets, and upto two children going free with each paying adult. Think it would actually be better mind you adding another northern team - be good to get a Newcastle / Whitley team back, and so then keeping the conference system.

Should have just said catching train from London... Don't feel that it's going up or down, just straight & much faster than by car on August bank hol eve. Couple of drinks on train, then few more in Nottm City Centre before face off. Will see if can spot any Finns! prediction: Panthers 2-5 Lukko

Yep I'm buzzing... shame ticket sales are disappointing - (hockey in August don't feel right, tho our summer "weather" finished 2-3 weeks ago!)
Leaving flat in London to catch the train down to Nottingham for the weekend in under 4 hours time: - two hockey games, & some footy match Saturday on the banks of the Trent. Should be a great weekend... Will settle for a couple of Nottingham goals in each of the 3 sporting games I'll be at, & as long as Lukko score no more than 6, then will take some satisfaction!
Don't imagine many Panthers fans will be travelling to Lukko either, as like Lukko supporters; it's the much easier to get to hamburg that "we" are all heading to too..
Great that a few Finnish fans have joined The Cage, hope you stick around at least until Panther's CHL adventure is over!
