Thanks finnishvisitor.
We are all looking forward to the competition, and of course the first game V Lukko, that is now just over two weeks away!
I thought Hamburg would be favourites to finish 2nd in the group, ahead of Lukko?
I only really watch / follow a bit of NHL, besides the UK Elite League, so unsure myself about who is better than who, in terms of any European rankings, or their roster for this season?
By the way, your English is very good, much better than some of the posters we get on here!

i cant see why they wouldnt, whats the point i nthem being over here for 3 months and only play 6 games? That would be fantastic, & would give us great squad rotation then, for the first 2 months of the season! Shame there are only two games, where league points are at stake, & they are v Hull & Cardiff.

Barely watched any NHL, so will be a tad confusing at first for me & many others. More guesswork involved then:
"In instances where the puck is shot around the end boards, travels down the ice and comes out the other end, the linesman has to determine who would have touched the puck first."
Though would have thought this would be the defending team about 95% of the time!

That is assuming as well, that Panthers players aren't too knackered, and are able to make it through to the challenge cup final in Sheffield & the PO final weekends in Nottingham! Think one of those two isn't going to happen! Personally think we should rest players in the challenge cup Group Stages,(play maybe 1-2 imports down depend on players fitness / injuries) in order to push more for the league title again...
Thoughts on that?

Apologies on my part, didn't check links & thought reporter being referred to, was the new Nottingham Post one.

Was a bit tongue in cheek on my part... & why not pay um more, & increase their insurance premium...
As said former Lions player I knew, who would have been up for it. He did play a few games for Panthers, then Blaze I believe before dropping down more to EPL level

or even one of the Nottingham Lions guys stepping upto to the plate? Don't know the lions players / squad myself; & got to be someone who is happy to drop the gloves? I know a Lions player from 5-6 years ago, who would have been up for it, & had Elite League, plus EPL experience!
Is Nicky Watt back at Guildford for this coming season? Went to a Guildford v MK match last season, which had a bit of a bench clearance type brawl! Hanson would have had fun dishing out bans, if that was an Elite League game!

The reporter in the post is new to ice hockey I believe, & so probly doesn't have much of a clue!
Panthers still need to sign a forward who can put up decentish numbers, while can fight / look after the skillful players!

Yeah forgot, that need to decide where to base myself & decide on a hotel for the scottish triple header... before all the decent ones get booked up!
Whoops... Actual just properly looking at the fixtures now; & realised that misread when the scottish triple header is, was about 4 months out on that prediction!
Could be a costly last 9 games of the season(moneywise), with possibly 7 out of 9 of them being away... (including a possible CC final in that!)
Christmas / New Year period is less sparse than last season, which is good; and less midweek fixtures scheduled at home at the moment!

Say if for instance Sharpie somehow did sign, if he put one foot wrong - Hanson would just throw the "rule" book at him! & give him a 20 + game ban!

Nice to see Panthers are adopting the "buy extra players" policy... Whether lose 1 or 2 after first 2 months, remains to be seen...
Being Greedy then, would like a goal poacher & a decent forward player who can "thrown his weight around" please Corey.
Then that certainly would be a season to look forward too, & an expensive one for me commuting from London trying to see as many games as poss!

Cheers Robbie.
Had a quick look at the away fixtures, and the scottish away triple header & the Belfast away ones are at the exact weekends I guessed! Would have been nice though if they could have been announced them at least a week earlier!
Though I do have an advantage over all you Nottingham based fans when booking flights, in that living in London the flight prices from London Airports aren't going to really increase, until maybe a month before the games are played!

Usually ends up being that way round, Big Lad. Just 4 more days to wait then, be nice to get more notice on the fixtures, than just the 1 month before the season gets underway for the Panthers!!
Anybody got any more fixture snippets? Guessing Belfast away double header will be mid March again, or will that be changed? Scottish away triple head, will take a guess at end of Sep / beginning of Oct!

Loves catching players with their heads down I like that a lot someone best warn him, that that offence will result in about a "6 match ban" in the elite league!

Would have though it would be one forward sniper to sign & 2 stay at home d-men (one of which is a tough no nonsense type plus a good fighter).
Any chance of a spare import, as will probly of picked up injuries before the Elite League gets underway...

Went on holiday abroad for a week on the 30th May, and completely missed that the panthers had signed Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuce back..... as it had slipped onto the 2nd page of the forum by the time got back. Terrific signing, and guess Higgins is the "Ling" replacement.

Tuesday is The Wanted, Wednesday Tinie Tempah and Thursday is You Me at Six. Friday is too close to playoffs obviously and Monday just wouldn't happen would it? And the Arena is booked for all of this weekend for some sort of cheerleading event. I fail to see that this week's games could have been scheduled any differently, but let's not let that get in the way of a GM- bashing opportunity. If Panthers don't make it to the weekend it will at least give the fans the opportunity to experience the event from the perspective of a Sheffield supporter. Was wondering why Panthers gave away 1st leg advantage and played on the Thursday in front of a half empty crowd. (they did finish above Braehead) There isn't anything scheduled on the arena website. So unfortunate that some "cheerleading" event scheduled on Play off quarter final "weekend", not helping Panthers chances. Wouldn't playing the second leg on the Monday have made more sense though, rather than playing it as a 1st leg on the Thursday? Would have given the players 4 days then from the challenge cup final, to recover before the 1st leg in Braehead?

Is the game live on premier sports? It states on their website that the game is live on the 1st April which is obviously wrong. No, they are just showing a play off 2nd leg match on 1st april.

Giants Webcast was fine, but frozen up for me with 41 seconds to go in 1st period.
edit - back on with period break.
Panthers really need to get back into it in the 2nd period, and be the team to score next.
