I would say this match is Nottingham’s best chance for getting some points on the board. While Lukko have been training for the past month, they appear to have only played the 1 pre-season match on the Friday just past. (Provided my google translator was accurate!)
They have only 2 imports with the rest of the team Finnish nationals, and while a fairly experienced side (Only 7 of their 26 man squad is under 25) that is mostly in the domestic game, only a few of the players have ventured abroad anytime in their career. (Including former NHL’er Ville Nieminen).
I reckon with Nottingham’s energy levels at maximum, if they come out flying like we know a Corey Neilson team can, set the tempo and get physical to hem Lukko into their own zone. Then I would rate their chances of getting a win very reasonable. My main worry for the Panthers will be the speed & quick transition ability that Lukko has, particularly if they over commit in the attack if they do get their noises in-front & get confident. With the smaller neutral zones and the players adapting to it, could make for extra counter attacking plays, particularly on special teams.
In regards to referees, I’m awaiting formal confirmation, but I do believe at least 1 foreign official will be brought in for these CHL games, with a 2nd domestic based referee, and that the linesmen will be local as well. I’ll update when I know that for sure.
Genuinely do wish Nottingham the best of luck, and hope they build some momentum and confidence going into Sunday’s match.

Really looking forward to this game now and catching up with all the fans after the summer.
I hope we can put out something approaching full strength although it does seem unlikely at the moment with all the injury and visa issues.

For me the key is to keep out of the penalty box. Both nights in the last 2 games we have lost to PP goals one of those was a 5 on 3 I to think we stand a really good chance so I'm keeping everything crossed.

Is it Friday yet?
I'm looking forward to these games more than any season opener than before (Though I may say that every season) Hopefully we can do ourselves proud first and foremost and just see what happens from there - a win would exceed my wildest expectations.

Does anyone know who is likely to miss the game?
I know that Robinson, Mark Lee, Mosey and Lawrence all missed last nights game through injury. I don't think Wild or Berube played in either game. It's been confirmed now that Clarke won't play in this weekends games. Anyone else missing?

Robinson, M. Lee, Mosey, Lawrence, Wild and Berube will probably play 90% sure on that.
Clarke and Farmer won't be playing, Clarke with his recovering shoulder and Farmer with his newly broken thumb or fractured hand.

Wild isn't here. Berube should arrive. I worry what level of fitness some of these players are at because the game on friday and more so sunday will be extremely fast only Cohen and Robinson will be used to it.

Hard to say on this Lots of teams take penalties in preseason/exhibitions games so they can practice penalty killing in proper game scenarios

When did the Farmer injury happen? Not heard anything about Wild coming, supposedly injured pre season but Twitter suggests he's still at his hockey camp. Farmer injured his hand last night stopping a puck, Physio was going to assess it this morning when the swelling had gone down but its a suspected broken thumb.

Berube is here, he was at the Meet the Players.
Farmer attempted to catch a puck during the game yesterday and according to the website, he has a broken thumb and may also have a fractured hand. they are waiting till they get back to Nottingham to get him checked out.

Bugger, If neither Wild or Farmer are available we will be really struggling to put out a 4th line.

Neither did Clarke and of course Wild. www.panthers.co.uk/content/monday-night-ljubljana-4-gmb-panthers-3-0You know what, i'm not even sure if he is here anymore, getting mixed up with all these players..

Well, Friday night will be a first for me. First time I will have watched a game while sat in shorts and T Shirt. Sat in a sports bar in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. Found one that will stream it for me. And how strange us this, the chef there used to play hockey in Swindon as a kid. At least that'll be two of us watching, he's packing up work early to sit with me! Another fan signed up :-)

With the smaller neutral zones and the players adapting to it, could make for extra counter attacking plays, particularly on special teams. I'll be interested to read peoples opinions of this and the impact it's had after the game on Friday, especially with regards to how the powerplay/penalty killing works. Regards Doom

That neutral zone is still bigger than Whitley Bay's ice pad! My early thoughts are that it could slow down the offensive game a bit as you've got more space to work in, so more room to pick out a pass... Who knows though. Oh and no black goal areas. Nice.
