Weninger should be top of Pacha's summer shopping list. He's been a great goalie on a mid-table team. Hugely impressive stats. 93.01SP%, 2.50 GAA is impressive enough. Most shots faced in the league, overall (by nearly 300 shots), and third most per game, behind Owen and Lindskoug (min 10 GP) so I wouldn't say his D are overly "protecting" him.... Has saved 37 (!) goals compared to the average EIHL netminder this year. He'll be in Belfast next season. If Greenfield leaves Weninger might fancy a shorter trip.

Hazeldine is a future top drawer D man, but inexperienced at that level. That said, he has absolutely looked the part here, I'd take him for the experience (at least) over at least one of that list. Strange to me that possibly 2 of the best forwards the coach has to pick from are ruled out for "off-ice issues", shall we say? What's the story with Joey Lewis, surely he should be in with a shout? Joey Lewis made the squad the last time we were at this level, only played twice and didn’t look up to it imo. Hasn’t made a GB squad since either. Lewis is playing for a decent team in a good league and has good numbers so he can't be far off selection

What we won't need is if some-one (team A) goes into their final game needing to win, playing a team (team B) with nothing to play for. Because this weekend's result showed, if a team goes into a game playing at 80% they stand a chance of getting turned over by even the bottom team in the league. I'll still believe we stand a slight chance, that in the future we could be looking back on this season end and how we pulled off something close to a miracle to qualify. But taking off the rose-tinted glasses, it's going to be very, very hard. We can't seem to give ourselves a decent chance, key players not fit, goalie not performing, too many games, too much travelling, not to emotional the emotional baggage.

I might be wrong and I can't be bothered to check, but I think the last time Panthers failed to qualify for post season play was 1984-5 season. 85-86 they qualified after a final day win in Streatham and have always reached the group stage or qf final since. Apart from covid season of course. Non qualifiers 46/47... 80/81...Icy-Smith Cup non entrants, did not qualify 81/82...English league non qualifier though we finished 2nd, Blackpool as a regional winner chosen 82/83...non qualifier 83/84...non qualifier 84/85... non qualifier So your correct. Remembering all qualified in certain seasons. 85/86 was the season they first qualified for playoffs. Lost all 4 games in a three team mini league with Dundee and Murrayfield. That was my first year of attending.

Another big few days looming. Would hope for two wins from three but there's a lot of travelling involved and little time for rest. How will Rok cope with so many games? Having a backup that could play one of the matches would have been a big help.

Over in France as the Ligue Magnus playoffs begin, Robbie Baillargeon leaves his team Cergy Pontoise for personal reasons. Bet they are pleased... Meanwhile, Christopher Boivin and his team Rouen won the regular season and play 8th placed Nice in R1 of the same playoffs.

That was a fantastic performance, soaked up a lot of pressure but scored at the most opportune times. They were well taken goals as well especially Lucciani's 2nd, Hendbrant and both of Niemenen's. Guildford tried to throw the checks but ended up on the Ice themselves. Pretty sure that the £9 Tickets was an experiment but if it was, it was an absolute success, a game which probably be around a 3rd full ended up to being a near sell out with an incredible atmosphere. Hopefully it's a sign to come for midweek League Games. Love to see the figures compared to a normal priced game, I do wonder if the Arena gave a discount, surely more people in the building gives them a chance to sell more Concessions. If you got people watching their 1st game, then after that game, they may be fans going forward. It's been mentioned before that Sheffield has been doing this for a long time, it's something that's worked for them In terms of attendance numbers only: WEDNESDAY 21.02.2024 5-4 win over Cardiff - 3854 WEDNESDAY 06.03.2024 6-1 win over Guildford - 6680 With a Tuesday (12th MARCH v FIFE) , Thursday (??) and Monday (1st APRIL GLASGOW) game still to come this season I'd say do it for all of them, as they're all random days as well. Get the arena rocking, lift the team, get some new fans hooked before the season ends and keep the crowd momentum into next season hopefully. Given that the three remaining weekday games are also Fife x2 and Clan, then filling the arena to capacity would be too the team's advantage. When is the thursday one ?

Anyone wish to revisit their original prediction ? After this weekend the optimism I had felt has rather diminished. I just can't see us going on a 5-6 game winning run. I know we have the games in hand, but the next three, Flames(h),Devils (a) Clan (a) don't offer up much hope. Monday morning blues !

Felt we were a little unlucky not to get something from tonight. Neither side threatened much in the first two, we gifted them two soft goals. Storming middle of the third gave us a chance to win, then another avoidable goal. Missing Michaud and Welsh's creativity. The tribute to Dayle Keen could have been handled better.

He left as soon as he came off the ice after his last game Tell us more then. Plenty to be annoyed with that game, but interestingly it was the game where we had the import space available yet Rok didn't travel. So annoyed at what happened in front of him. He was or became unwell or injured, but Rok wasn't there to replace him. They refused to let him off as Luca was back up. Or somebody within blamed him. Mike had a similar meltdown towards the end of the Glasgow defeat on 24th Jan, KM went over to try and calm him down, and/or reassure him. so I doubt he'd get a public telling off.
