One of our games in hand. I’m calling it must win. I know mathematically it isn’t, but a team placed at the bottom of the league can’t just flick a switch to win 5,6,7 games in a row. So if that becomes what’s needed to qualify for the end of season then we’ll find it really difficult. Need to win these games in hand therefore. Hopefully we come out flying. Would be great to have Michaud and Welsh/ Ollie back!

The way people talk and make excuses about playing short anybody would think they’ve been icing 15 or 16 players recently. They haven’t,it’s just another excuse !

Michaud has been a pivotal player for us lately, missing one of your most influential players, when the pressure is on like it is now, is a big loss

Ollie is going to be back very shortly. Haha they suggested that the first week of January and it’s now the first week of March ! Still,if he is at least it would mean they can drop that liability Tetlow.

More points than any other player in the league in February despite missing a game and a half?

I’d scratch McGurty if everyone was fit. Or if we had to drop a forward probably Anderson/ Welsh as has been mentioned. I wasn’t necessarily bemoaning them being out as ‘playing short’. But being able to roll 4 lines and 3 D pairs would be fantastic at this stage of the season, that’s just a common sense comment! And of the three out, one is our best playmaker and part of an extremely effective line until he got injured, and another is our leading Brit forward (on perception prior to the season starting). Surely makes sense to want both of them back in the line up 😂

The problem is that Hazeldine is a like for like swap for Tetlow but he's better. All the other d-men bring something else that Tetlow doesn't. Maybe there is an argument for resting 1 of the imports to keep them fresh, possibly Despres when we have 2 or 3 games in a short space of time. Regarding forwards, Ollie is obviously going straight back in and so would Michaud and Welsh. Anderson definitely sits in my opinion.

If we were full strength I’d be benching Kelsall & McGurty/Ryczek or Anderson & Tetlow

What a ridiculous time to have it. Did no-one think about it being a late start and therefore late finish game? There will be plenty of fans who don't live on the doorstep and have to travel some distance home only to have to get up early the next morning for work/school etc. I bet they wouldn't dare try it after a major concert. For those that do read it in detail it does state that anyone can leave, for any reason, and I'll be exercising that option. We already have the stupidity of not being able to enter by some stairs but being able to leave by the same. Farcical.

One of the reasons I'm not going tonight is that I've got to be out early tomorrow for work (coupled with it not being on the season ticket). I guess there are operational reasons it would need to be mid-week but surely a Sunday afternoon game would be less disruptive.
In other news, Welsh back tonight.

So we should ice 20 players tonight. With that we should really push a Dman forward to allow a full 4 line rotation & simplify the D.

Which other import is missing? (Michaud and...)
Edit - Game Centre doing it's thing, they haven't got Henbrant in the lineups, even though he's scored, and the PDF gamesheet doesn't have the Goal Machine on it, who is on the lineups. So I assume we're playing 20?

One of our best first periods of the season. Some good goals. Some big hits(Caruso with a monster and a few more) and a fight.
I think the refs did us a favour on the penalties unless there has been a rule change. Pare should've had the 2+10 Instigator, but as he was reacting to a bad hit they gave him 2 for roughing. That feels a much better solution in those circumstances, but not sure it's the correct call.

2-0 up after the first (Luciani and Henbrant). Now 3 - 0. Shame I’m on nights, sounds a great game.
