Rouen now lead 3-2 going into this week's final two games. Fairytale stuff in Rouen, Boivin scores the winner in OT to cap a fight back from 0-2 down in the series to win 4-2 and claim the title. Wonderful for him on a personal level having missed the first half of the season while being treated for testicular cancer. that really is hockey gods stuff

Normally the Brits are announced fairly quickly so I'd hope for Ollie, Jordan, Logan,Josh or Joe

Will be interesting to see where Mr Perlini ends up this season... Fred? Brendan is at Charlotte in the AHL, 10+5 in 26 games, qualified for playoffs

If you are wanting to improve your Brits, you need to be thinking a couple of years down the line, players that are currently with the GB U20's or players that are away at US/Canadian Colleges. It would cost too much to tempt someone currently in the EIHL, and as was pointed out, someone like Hook could easily end up like Ferrara, a star in the NIHL but a relative failure at panthers.

You could’ve said that about Despres, Farley, Pare, Luciani and Hazeldine though as they all arrived after but I don’t think they were ever seen as outsiders I'm sure they weren't seen as outsiders but it was all still very fresh and raw this season. These new players have had the opportunity to help be part of the recovery. But time brings a new perspective, so perhaps some of this season's squad may feel that it is time to move on, and finally put what happened behind them.

this isn't a rumour, or even a comment about a rumour, but a comment about the possibility of players returning for next season. ~A lot has been said about the emotional upheaval that the players have dealt with this season, and whether that would affect possible decisions to return. But if a player is offered a contract and chooses to return, how will that player then deal with working with other players, new to the team, who didn't share the experience. I think we all agree that a special bond will have been formed by this season's team, and the commitment shown to the team cause has led to what we've seen on the ice. Can we expect to seem the same commitment from returning players when they look round the room and only see half a dozen 'brothers in arms' from this season. Using the 'brothers in arms' reference - I enjoy watching the Band of Brothers TV series at least once per year, particularly for the interviews with the actual soldiers who took part. The guys who went through the initial training camp and then went on the first D Day landing commented that when Replacements came in the older guys found it difficult to share the same camaraderie as they did with their fallen comrades.

Not one of our old boys, but Liam Kirk on the move from Litvinov, rumoured to heading for DEL and Berlin.
'Liam Kirk confirmed his reputation as a scorer in Litvínov, adding another 9 goals in the playoffs to his 19 goals in the regular season. But that's where his extra-league stint ends. If an offer from the NHL does not come, he should wear the jersey of Eisbären Berlin next season. ' although this statement might be nothing more than rumour mongering, EP give it some credence, and the following put more meat on the bones. - 'Liam has had a great season with us, he has left a big mark and we thank him for that. We are very sorry to see you go, but Liam has decided to move on in his career," says CEO Pavel Hynek. "Of course, Liam's passing is a huge loss. Although he came as a striker in the role of TOP9, his role was significantly greater. We were eminently interested in keeping him in Litvínov, and according to his agent, our offer was the same as the one he accepted elsewhere. He continues to dream of overseas, and his new club has close ties to the NHL. I would like to thank Liam for what he has done for Litvínov and wish him good luck for the future," adds sports manager Tomáš Vrábel.' taken from Litvinov website

Weninger should be top of Pacha's summer shopping list. He's been a great goalie on a mid-table team. Hugely impressive stats. 93.01SP%, 2.50 GAA is impressive enough. Most shots faced in the league, overall (by nearly 300 shots), and third most per game, behind Owen and Lindskoug (min 10 GP) so I wouldn't say his D are overly "protecting" him.... Has saved 37 (!) goals compared to the average EIHL netminder this year. He'll be in Belfast next season. If Greenfield leaves Weninger might fancy a shorter trip.

playoff update. Boivin at Rouen begin the SF series v Cergy Pontoise (JP's old team) on thursday. In the Czech league playoffs, Jonathan Kirk (not Panthers but doing well at this higher level) is leading points scorer in the playoffs and Litvinov take a 2-0 lead in their qf series with Kometa Brno. In Slovakia, HC Spisska Nova Ves (new team of Viktor Bjorkung) begin the play off series with a win. but without Viktor, who doesn't play. *Liam Kirk update on Liam and Litvinov. - through to SF round but 2-0 down to league winners HC Dynamo Pardubice. Viktor and HC Spisska - qualified for SF and play 4th ranked Kosice. update on Boivin - play Bordeaux in the final commencing Thursday.

Hazeldine is a future top drawer D man, but inexperienced at that level. That said, he has absolutely looked the part here, I'd take him for the experience (at least) over at least one of that list. Strange to me that possibly 2 of the best forwards the coach has to pick from are ruled out for "off-ice issues", shall we say? What's the story with Joey Lewis, surely he should be in with a shout? Joey Lewis made the squad the last time we were at this level, only played twice and didn’t look up to it imo. Hasn’t made a GB squad since either. Lewis is playing for a decent team in a good league and has good numbers so he can't be far off selection
