The post only reported Corey was trying to sort out a move to Europe a few days ago too! Was less than pleased when i saw he had signed for Clan. Wish the Black's would sell up either us or Clan because i'm sure they had some involvment in the signing.
What's done is done, wish Salters all the best and i'd like to see him back in his true colours one day.. Black and Gold.. and White and Maroon and whatever other colours they throw at us.

As I stated on the signings thread, not really fussed about this. Salters was one of the few players who looked ok in a average squad. He'll fit in well at Braehead, but we can, and should be doing a lot better than him. As for the blacks managing both teams, does it matter? If Leigh wants to go to Braehead, then why shouldn't he? Why are you sure they had some involvement or is it just the fact that they own both clubs? Don't let conspiracies get in the way of common sense

As for the blacks managing both teams, does it matter? At the very least them not owning both teams would have prevented many debates like this.

The reporter in the post is new to ice hockey I believe, & so probly doesn't have much of a clue!
Panthers still need to sign a forward who can put up decentish numbers, while can fight / look after the skillful players!

When Salters played properly he was awesome, but half games second half of the season he was lazy and looked totally disinterested.
Panthers better get a couple more forwards signed though,6 import d is fine but we need goals too, especially as we won't be seeing Clarkey until a few weeks in !

At the end of the season we obviously needed changes, and he was first on my list of those to change. His attitude summed up the problems of last season to me. Looked completely disinterested about 90% of the time. Could have been an amazing player, but just didn't look the slightest bit bothered. And I don't think the apparent injury is an excuse. It was body language as much as anything. Tough though.

My guess is that by the time he decided that no better offer was coming from Europe we'd spent most of our budget and could no longer afford him. A lot of the guys Corey had signed do not luck cheap!

Huge signing for the Clan, massive loss for Nottingham.
24 goals, big hitter, good agitator, great fighter.
Reminds me of Matt Miller the way he plays, expect even more points from him this year.

Right, so because Corey tells a reporter something and then that doesn't happen, that means the reporter doesn't have a clue? It's entirely possible that Corey was trying to help Leigh get a move to Europe, but that didn't work out and he's now signed in Braehead. In fact, that's probably exactly what happened . . .

Haha! Probably exactly... Should work in media. Errrm Owen works for the BBC. You may have seen him from such TCW TV episodes like "The Christmas Jumper".

it's totally understandable, yes. But better would have just been "probably what happened" Using the oxymoron just makes it confused and ambiguous reminds me of my personal favourites: "50% of the time, it works all the time" Or when a mini-cooper/Ford KA drives past: "8/10 she's a 9/10".

No way is Salters a 'massive loss' at all. Inconsistent to the point of hardly bothering on many occasions. On his day he's a monster but clearly has motivational issues.

He ran the show vs the Devils on every occasion you played us.

We only get to see away players now and again but when the Panthers were in Cardiff, Salters looked awesome, would have taken him in a heartbeat.

On your smaller ice I can imagine he would look better as well.

Salters was a good player for Panthers. Scored more goals and points than most would have thought. Very tough as well and gave Keefe a couple of good beatings.
Played a massive part in us beating Riga and Belfast in the cup final.
If he went at every shift like his life depended on it he would not have come anywhere near the EIHL in the 1st place....

I'm not saying he's terrible. Far from it. On his day he's a monster, at our level possibly unstoppable if in the mood. He just isn't a 'massive loss' in any way what-so-ever.
