Hope to see 1 or 2 warm up games before the first champions league game, any body thinking the same.
First post so no rough stuff please.

It would be great but it's not going to happen. As far as I am aware the imports haven't started to arrive yet. I sure all the time will be taken up by the pre-season training camp and not friendly games.

id like to think we're treating the champions league games as a warm up to the season - as its highly likely we'll get beat in all 6 games. If you want an indication of how we're looking prior to the seaosn starting, id lean more towards our results away at Lukko and Lulea as by then we'll have had 3 weeks pre season + 5 competative matches under our belt.
that gives us 7 games: Lukko (H), Lulea (H), Amiens (A), Rouen (A), UQTR (A), Lukko (A), Lulea (A) to be ready and have a good idea of game plans and lines to take into a huge opening game against Cardiff who certainly wont be the circus act they were last season and who i fully expect to be one of our main rivals this year.

It's a shame the French thing and the first weekend of the CHL aren't the other way around. I agree with Arena though, I can't see them playing at all before that first CHL game, it's so early on. Could be a rough start.

good to see us preparing for champions league properly, and throwing my opinion out the water of treating them like a pre-season challenge.
now lets get a couple more forwards signed in time and give it a right good go!

Good stuff, it'll clearly beneficial not to go into Lukko & Lulea cold, and good opponents too, I would've been OK with some knockabout in Peterborough. Can't fault them. The old post it on the Cage and check the official site 10 minutes later rule, works every time

But they don't read the cage !
Surprised we are going there though, this was the team we fell out with in the continental cup in Amiens when we wouldn't let them play their four Nhlers who wern't registered properly,so they played their back up against Milan and lost heavily on purpose leaving Panthers to score about ten in the last game.

Good to see.
New Panther Bryan Schmidt played 9 games for them last season.

The comments on facebook left me in despair - people actually moaning about possible injuries and that we should play local sides...the local sides who Won't have their team in as early as we do. Proper makes me face palm.

What I am worried about is the amount of games we may potentially play this season. It's getting longer and longer. If we make the later stages of CC, PO and CHL. Our season coul be around 65 games. Haven't checked properly just a guess.

If we went all the way in the challenge cup and playoffs,i make it we will play 77 games.........thst's complete madness with the size of squad EIHL teams usually have and only the one import goalie too.
We best sign another 4 or 5, players pretty sharpish !

Had message from a French friend yesterday asking if we were going to the game in Rouen on 19th August v Panthers. Checked Rouen Dragons website, and its advertised on there! Does that make it 78 games then? Hope we don't pick up loads of injuries for the Devils opener. If we don't we should at least be ready for the job.

No that game is included, assuming there are say 5 stand alone challenge cup games.
52 league 5 cup (stand alone games) 2 cup qtr 2 cup semi 1 cup final 2 po qtr 1 po semi 1 po final 6 champ league 3 french comp 2 Slovenia
Total 77 games

You can see why people get frustrated about us being in European competitions. 77 games potentially is rediculous. Last season we was full of injuries. If that happens again we could be in for an even longer season this time round.
*this is not to say I don't want to be in any of the games we have signed up for*

That is assuming as well, that Panthers players aren't too knackered, and are able to make it through to the challenge cup final in Sheffield & the PO final weekends in Nottingham! Think one of those two isn't going to happen! Personally think we should rest players in the challenge cup Group Stages,(play maybe 1-2 imports down depend on players fitness / injuries) in order to push more for the league title again...
Thoughts on that?

There are two routes into European hockey, and its clear Panthers want to be involved. I can't see them letting go of the challenge cup easily.
