Thurely entertaining game there. Had abit of everything for the fans, goals, fights, celebration, agrevation. Ref making bad mistakes, players making them too (we forgive you captain #37). But then some great team skill, individual skills, some good passing the lot. That game to me had it.
To me however we should of been leading from the first period, i thought we had better chances to score throughout the game and should of buried the game early. However we showed good resolve to keep plugging away to eventually get an equaliser and onward from there.
And for once we didnt really have a 2nd period lul. the one where we only play when we feel like it and all look like we are sleep skating. We actually dug in and ground it out with them.
Overall a good game, a good evening out for all and we took 2 points from top of the league, Cant argue with that!

great result, really enjoyed the game and like has been said i thought it had everything.
was very worried after we failed to score on that 5 on 3 in the third period but we came through, well done lads.
good game by all but for me mom was Shmyr, we saw a side of him tonight that we rarely see, a thoroughly nasty side. got the better of his fight with Timmons, constantly niggling at there players, hacking and chopping at every puck especially when in Koenigs gloves (was because of that persistence that we got our first goal) and generally intimidated there team. nice to see Stewart have that last niggle at him when they shook hands at the end, Ryan laughed and knew he'd done his job for the night.
well done to Levers for sticking up for himself although he did get convincingly beaten
titles back on, come on lads!!
next stop Sheffield, feel if we beat them we could go on another great run

Coventry thought they were all it when they were throwing their weight around but as soon as our players did something back they started to get mardy. Well done levers for sticking up for yourself lad even though you did get battered. A great fight between shmyr and timmons (i think) which shmyr just edged. Glad we won and well done to all the team. Well done maca to make up from your mistake to get the game winning goal. Roll on sheffield.

We played in Yellow tonight. I think Ryan edged it. Was hard to see it all with the refs in the way. You all missed a great match. Was nice to see Corey get the EN with 1.4 sec left on the clock. Well done to the Panthers for a great result. Hope Saturdays game will be as exciting as this one.! Pity you missed it.

At last we played 3 period hockey, second best in periods 1 & 2, but most definitely in charge in period 3. Unlike Mr Hicks. When will he learn to clamp down on the chopping and hacking, before the fights start.
Any clues why he called Matt Myers for interference on the washed out goal?

Very entertaining game, enjoyed playing the Blaze instead of the usual Sheff games on boxing day and also enjoyed a win on boxing day! Gave them exactly what was missing on sunday night, lots of agression and intimidation and they were a totally different team. Can't fault anyone, thought they all played exceptionally well and you could tell how they enjoyed the victory at the end. Shymr wound them up nicely and nice to see Timmons get a spanking. Ellis said it was just a 'blip' on Sunday and he was true to his word.
Makes Saturday more interesting and confidence should be high after that performance.

Good game all round have to be honest that at end of 2nd couldnt see us scoring 1 let alone 3, but we came out in 3rd and looked to have gone up a gear, when we didnt have the puck we harried and hacked them all over the ice.
Thought Ferrera and myers were excellent tonight and no one had a bad game.
Only problem is I have no nails left for saturday and Steelers games I normally go through to the bone by end of 1st!!

Pretty even game to be honest but the win could be a vital one.
Certainly makes the title race very interesting. There are 3 horses now and it is pretty even between us Coventry and Sheffield now looking at the fixtures coming up.

Phew, at times I didn't think we'd do it, but boy am I glad we did. We made some big errors, but we also made some great moves to keep in it. It was a good result over top of the league and the fact we got it their faces and played them at their own game of lots of hits and it worked, only we tended to keep the sticks down! All I can say about the reffing is - No idea, what is the point of having a ref when linesmen are making calls? Perhaps Hicks and Darnell should have swapped shirts!

One thing that can be said about hicks was he wasn't bias - bad calls and missed calls on both sides. One thing I was wondering was if you were alowed to change goalie when you have just iced the puck - you can't change skaters but goalie swaps are ok apparently - makes little sense (noticed you got away with another change on the last shift Myers should have stayed on the ice) Really glad you guys won tho - I HATE the blaze! Good game all round - bit if everything. They should have given the disallowed goal, just cos it was so good!

I don't often write about games but i thought i would today.
Hockey should always be like that. Two good sides, well matched with some good netminding. Some fisti-cuffs, a great atmosphere and some late drama. Exactly what we needed to bring the first-timers back, how many will think that the Saturday game is a great idea now eh?
Bergin was pretty good tonight, although he never looks like he should be able to do what he is. Who'd have thought it was him leaping like a gazelle at the back post to equalise? McAslan had a bit of a shocker, but if he scores the GWG every game playing like that, i won't have too many complaints.
Coventry are a pretty good side though. Their defense is pretty swift and organised, and when you manage to make it through them you've got the small matter of Mr Koenig. They'll win the league.
All in all, good performance, good game and great result. Bring on the Squealers.

Corker of a game played by two teams who were fully commited to playing 100% hockey, real edge of the seat stuff. Must pay tribute to Coventry, it's easy to see why they are top, great defence, total commitment and a quality netminder. If we played like them every week we'd have no complaints, and i still think the title is their's to lose. The referee tonight, absolutely shocking! Never had control of the game, made some terrible decisions and very nearly ruined the game with his incompetence. As for us, I thought we were very workmanlike in the first 2 periods but never looked like getting past Koenig, however in the third we were magnificent and fully deserved to take the points. Berging fully deserved his MOM as he was excellent as were the defence. Great game, if only they all could be like that.

At the end of the game, Stef made a number of 'amendments' to Panthers goals. Shmyr got the assist on Bergin's goal, Molin scored the second (assited by Wallenberg and McAslan not Ellis as stated earlier) and Corey got the third (assisted by Pelletier, not Stancok).
Thought it could have gone either way at 1-1 and personally thought Coventry would get the winner inside the last couple of minutes after they killed our 5-on-3. But all credit to the lads.
Shmyr easily won his fight. He seemed to hold off at first and Timmons got a couple of good shots in, but as soon as they were up against the boards Shmyr was on him. Saw Ryan offering Stweart out at the start of the second but Stewart thought better of it.
All in all, a good game. Still a big admirer of Koenig even if he could have done better with Molin's goal. Did anyone see James Cooke's hipcheck on one of our players. Man, where did he learn moves like that??

Now that's what I pay my season ticket money to see. A great game played by two hard working teams in a good atmosphere. Real end-to-end, edge of your seats stuff throughout. I thought a goal would enough and when they scored I must admit I thought it was game over. Before then we'd mostly been restricted to shots that Koeing could easily deal with and I didn't think that we'd be given any room in the third. Credit to our guys for coming back though. It seemed as if the big stroke of luck we got with the equaliser was just what we needed and after that we were tremendous. I had a really great time tonight - hopefully more of the same on Saturday!
