. Saw Després walking down the concourse and he looked fine, so it could be true that he wanted to play tonight and was prevented from doing so. With 4 dmen why not let hm dress and see how he fairs in warmup? A bewildering decision The decision is being made by the doctor he saw due to the specifics nature of his injury to his eye, whilst his sight is unaffected from the high stick I believe there are still issues that haven’t yet recovered so the recommendation is for it to heal fully to prevent any issues for him and given it’s his sight I understand that.

Scratch that, nobody returns plus we’re without McGurty as well obviously… Disappointed the new guy isn’t icing nor is there anyone returning from injury. Just got to get on with it at the end of the day. Hopefully Rok stands on his head & Panthers GWG comes off someone’s arse … In fairness to the club, they were open in the announcement they weren’t expecting Paré to be playing this weekend and to make his debut in the away double header next week. My understanding is Depres is wanting to play but due to the nature of his injury there is caution being exercised by the medical team.

It’s sad to think about but 10 losses from 12 is sacking territory for a coach in a normal season but the lack of support from management suggests to me that they’re aiming the blame at Parades which if true angers me because out of the 10 losses we’ve lost 7 at a 2 goal or less deficit and of the 12 games we’ve played since we returned 3 have been at full strength I’d like to think The thought of laying the blame at JP is wide of the mark.

Addressing mid season roster moves/balance under normal circumstances often comes with releasing players. This season the circumstances are completely different given what happened. It’s an unenviable task to try and keep this group together who are clearly struggling with the aftermath and the trauma anyway never mind then looking to split that group up to accommodate incoming players.
It is a dilemma that the coaches and off ice team (up to a certain level) are facing and there isn’t a play book for dealing with what has happened to them this year unfortunately so I don’t think it’s fair to look at it with the “usual” mindset.

3 months ago he signed, not 1 month like Farley. Won’t say much more though, as your hatred for the club is unreal It was the 8th October Alderson was signed in Cardiff, that’s well into the season. Due to the delay to factor in the world championships in 2024 The season started weekend of 23rd sept… 15 days is a stretch to say “well into the season”

While we earned the win, we really do need a big body up front, someone to win the puck and hold on to it. Would offer some variation to the otherwise almost identical forward lines we have. Nice to see Corey's attendance having a positive effect on Logan. In the 3rd period I realised I'd barely noticed Farley. Needs more time obviously. Farley didn’t take too many shifts in the third, on commentary Green said he’d not seen him much in 3rd then next shift he was there, Sod’s Law for him there haha Corey has been in attendance last couple of games, would be nice for Logan to get his first competitive goal for us whilst he’s here.

The “4th” line were superb today. With the top lines cancelling each other out they became the real difference makers.
36 save shutout was a great effort from Rok too, especially the triple save in the first.

I think Panthers’ problem when it comes to merch is them trying to be too different, who cares if it’s unoriginal as long as it’s good quality and fans are buying/wearing it. I also don’t like team exclusive merch because you’re using your biggest marketing ploy to advertise merch fans can’t buy I agree with all of this, the players have decent gear, let the fans have the same. Keep it smart and simple Totally agree with that, the “team gear” is a lot smarter and if available I think would tempt more people to part with their hard earned One item I think we miss is a basic tshirt with the logo on the front (no other words or nonsense) with player names on the back, often very popular items at NHL games and gives a cheaper option to those that may not be able to afford a jersey but want to show support for a particular player.

Sheffield’s perceived win at all costs mentality imo has really come out since the incident. I know there have been some public tweets about finances due to game rescheduling etc and whilst that may only be a minority those opinions being thrown about to me shows where their thoughts really are. Granted that could be very wide of the mark but it’s just how I see it some days. As for our results I actually don’t think we are too far off since the return (granted this is before coventry away on 10th if we were to win that and get 2 3pt weekends in a row most realistic fans would’ve taken that before the last 2 weekends) but with a month of dealing with the trauma and trying to return to game readiness I don’t think we have done too badly. Focussing on what we’re doing we’ve taken moves to address the defence, and if we can get some settled lines on the forwards I feel we like hang with some of the bigger teams The issue with this season is steelers are just chugging along doing what they always do whilst others (giants/devils) have not been as strong, last years surprise teams (blaze/flames) have regressed. When that happens Steelers usually win the league through their consistency. Agree with a lot of that. Sadly Belfast was a regulation loss though. So 2 points needed tonight and then it'll be a 2 point weekend. Yes of course, thanks for the correction, thought we’d nabbed an extra point for some reason, need a red bull to kick myself into gear today. Definitely makes tonight’s game more important than to get something out of the weekend. Hopefully with the days rest in between it helps them out to get off to a hot start later.

After what was very traumatic it is a miracle some of the players are even on the ice let alone playing and winning games, however, what happened has not stopped sheffield from moving on and still winning their games. Imho and several others before the incident it was argued even with the quality that AJ brought to the team that we would still struggle against "the big boys" and without our best player that win rate is even harder to maintain (as evidenced so far with the results). I think this season we had/have a plucky relatively hard working team but ultimately the quality especially without AJ is not there to actually challenge for anything this season... I am sure alot of the fanbase and players are happy just to see some hockey this season but it stinks that the club partly to blame for our predicament are riding high in the league seemingly without any effects on their wins etc... Sheffield’s perceived win at all costs mentality imo has really come out since the incident. I think it was a fair effort for a return to competitive action. Loved the never quit attitude that led to grabbing a 2nd goal after conceding the first empty better. I think the main issues came from the understandable rust from everything they’ve been dealing with and not playing for so long.
Definitely a good building platform for the rest of the season. Proud of the effort from them all today.

Howden might be far from the mark in terms of who is coming in.
Hopefully not too much longer to wait. Be good to get some further reinforcements in

Granted it was quite a while back but I’ve seen Roach play when he was at Berlin, I wasn’t impressed at all. Out of the 2 signings today (on paper) im much happier with our signing than Clans

An integral part of Berlin’s back to back DEL titles recently. An incredible pedigree to bring to the EIHL.
Credit to the club for this one, a really good signing.
Also a lot of credit to him for joining us during a very difficult time, I know he’ll be made to feel most welcome by the team, staff & fans.

Replacements/additions quite frankly aren’t relevant to this game, that is for us to worry about post this weekend leading up to the first competitive game whenever that is. Nothing should take the focus away from Adam, his family & the team this weekend and any roster changes would (even for a moment) deflect away from that and in my opinion not warranted for this event. Not looking to detract at all - the original question was about simply having enough players to actually play and the prospect of guest players. Let’s not forget this is a healing process / first step back onto the ice for the roster. It’s about them as well. I’m not saying you personally were looking to detract from it just my opinions how I think anything like that could take the focus off what the weekend is about, it’s about Adam and supporting the team (as I’d previously mentioned). If not seen, there is a video released by the club of the ice being painted ready for the weekend which is a lovely touch and I imagine the first of many emotional tributes to come.

Whilst I love the drama of it I think it’s bad that this part of the footage has seen the light of day. It’s very clearly not part of the formal interview and whilst they need to be aware of being on a hot mic someone has specifically made the choice to put this out there or in the hands of someone to do it. If I were clan I’d be fuming!

Absolutely fantastic response following the announcement of the game, really pleased to know that the building will be full to honour Adam and support the guys returning to the ice.
It’s apparent that a lot of lapsed fans are coming to pay their respects and support the team, absolutely fantastic to see. I would love to see those same fans return to more games to support the team for the rest of this season, they will need every ounce of support possible to help them as they continue to grieve and return to some sense of normality.
It may be an odd way to articulate my point but I am looking forward to the event, seeing us all together to do our 47 proud.

This response is a little disappointing… especially as the article says additional ticket info to come later today, I feel like you’ve jumped the gun a bit. As we’ve said with most things in the past fortnight, exercising some patience is key. I've not really said anything to critical of the club. My main motivation for the post is that I want it to be sold out. Worried that it not being a league game on the ST may impact that. It'd be pretty aweful if it were played in front of 3,000 due to some not being able to afford to pay to go. Being a Saturday night will also drag in many that may not be as respectful as they should be. But I get that, that date was in the diary anyway. 3,000 true hockey fans wouldn't be the end of the world though. I think its a great idea to have a warm up game before stepping back in. As it's a memorial game I expected to see that ticket sales would go to the Fundraiser. That's all, nothing more. They've done an amazing job up to now in very difficult circumstances. I just want this to be as perfect as can be. This has just raised a few concerns with me that it may not be. I think at £10 a ticket and given the circumstance I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at the crowd. The event will be well supported. With it being a memorial game, ST means less money coming in for the fund however much the percentage of proceeds is. You may not have been directly critical it was just a disappointing response when the full information is not yet available

A little dissapointed for it not being a ST game. That would have all but ensured a sell out. It's good to see the pricing is reasonable and i'm sure demand with be high. I'm not entirely convinced it will sell out even with that pricing. No mention of ticket profits going to Adams fundraiser as it stands. Perhaps that'll be the case to be revealed in time. This response is a little disappointing… especially as the article says additional ticket info to come later today, I feel like you’ve jumped the gun a bit. So it sounds like they're going to return to the ice, and return to the league games You'd like to think so from that. I think they'd have made one annoucement if they were to pull out of the league aswell. If it means 5 or 6 new signings i'd expect them to find a way to complete the league campaign. All players will be dealing differently, but personally I can see all but 3 or 4 staying. We already know Luca Sheldon has played a game, albeit he wasn't in Sheffield that night. Bjorkland I think will play based on the way he spoke. 2 or 3 are still here and have been seen fairly relaxed. Going to play golf etc(which is more than reasonable, they all need some normality and distraction). My guess at most lkely not to return would be Neimenen. Purely on his involvement in the incident. It would be great to see all of them come back to "do it for Adam" and Black give them the additional on ice support to do that. I think we all already know they will be ready at different times, which is uderstandable. Perhaps we'll see somebody like Neimenen struggle and be all but gone, but then decide he fancies getting back in perhaps February time. Otto is at least back in Nottingham today going by social media which is a positive sign that if nothing else he wants to be around the team. I am genuinely so proud of how they are all doing and sticking with each other as they all navigate such a difficult situation. That is imperative for them as they come to terms with what happened in life in general, never mind the hockey.

Exercising some element of patience is key here, many factors to consider regarding the further postponements with the foremost thing to consider being the welfare of our players but a statement will come in due course I am sure of that.

Seen on twitter that the Fife Flyers OSC raised £2300 towards the memorial fund last night. This is a superb effort from all involved!
