] The Officials were terrible especially in the 2nd Period but the crowd let them have it when they skated on for the 3rd Period and they weren't going to call anything on The Panthers. The fact that we celebrated having a Power Play called in our favour resulted in a cheer like we had just scored says it all really. Other than the boarding in Tetlow every penalty against us during that 2nd period we were bang to rights. It did certainly galvanise the crowd though and that atmosphere will have no doubt helped the extended penalty killing efforts.

Interesting selection dilemma tonight if we've got 7 fit D. If my maths is right (slim chance of that to be honest) We’ll probably roll 7 D and then rotate someone in on the 4th line with Pare/Kelsall like we did Wednesday

Spose if someone has paid to sponsor the game, they could probably name Paws as MoM if they wanted to. Although, if u are watching the game from a box u do get a different perspective on the action. It's harder to pick out individuals, so the player that sticks out the most is the goalie. I’d argue that watching from the higher vantage point of the box gives a better perspective of the whole area of play and the impact that players have. Then again we all watch and perceive the game differently and then some people just want to pick who they may want a photo with. Ultimately after a win like last night the MOTM is an irrelevance, 2 points and praise for the whole group effort is the real important matter.

Don’t see the point tbh. Season is a write off league wise. The only positive being there’s a number of players that you’d look to bring back next time to be more competitive. I Given the circumstances we’ve faced this season the league isn’t a write off imo. There has just been a massive shift in what the goal is. We are in with a shout of qualifying for the playoffs which let’s face it none of us expected only a few weeks ago. In usual circumstances sneaking 8th would quite frankly be a disgusting outcome to a season for us… this year it would be a great achievement. If there is something that can still be done to help the team in the congested fixture period to rotate 4 lines, give people a rest/cover injuries then we should try to do it if something is possible.

Deadline has been and gone but as blaze proved earlier this week they’d signed someone but not announced it. Also Doesn’t necessarily have to be an import that could come in. Now that would make selection interesting. Firstly id presume Ollie done for the season. 2 spare Brits is a lot. I wouldn't like to see Hazeldine sit out. No way is Logan sitting out at the minute. So you could sit Tetlow or Kelsall & an import forward. Or you play all your Brits and sit an Import D and an import forward. I think it'd be harsh on Kelsall after all he's put in and cant see that happening, although an upgrade is an upgrade. If we were bringing in say Perlini or Cade Neilson then they could happily play over Anderson or Welsh for me. I think looking at Perlini/CN is maybe a bit too far fetched. There are also other options in bringing in players to pad the roster out to allow us to play 4 lines, doesn’t have to be a “statement” signing so to speak. It will be interesting to see if there is anything incoming, I just think it would be surprising if not especially as that 8th place is realistically up for grabs

I think we may see someone else come in to help the run in. Suspect that will only be the case if Welsh or Lemay is done for the season? With them fit, Panthers have 17 "imports" to choose from. 1 in goal means 14 more from the remaining 15 skaters, so someone would already sit every game if they were both fit. Is there a deadline for signing this season? Deadline has been and gone but as blaze proved earlier this week they’d signed someone but not announced it. Also Doesn’t necessarily have to be an import that could come in.

We’ve been threatening giving a goal away with a pass out in front of our own goal for so long now I’m not surprised we finally got caught out to one.
Granted it was a shame to give Fife a point but winning is the main thing for us. 3 on the spin at home now is nothing more than our performances have deserved.
3 really well taken goals as well, some of our players are still a bit shot shy but getting good contributions across all lines at the minute.
Things are looking good for this final push to try and grab a playoff spot if we keep this up!

Must win in regulation, I think it's safe to say that the 9-7 is a freak result, unless the goals start flowing. This might be controversial but do we start Robinson in Net, playing a lot of games in a short space of time and Rok will need a rest. Cardiff will be a tougher test (Yes I know about Cardiff's record at the NIC) We shouldn’t be playing Robinson, the team don’t seem to play well around him and at his stage of his career he isn’t good enough imo to get us through to a win Id have preferred we played him today vs steelers, in all reality it was a game we weren’t likely to win so a good chance to rest Rok. It’s imperative we win the “6 pointers” against the teams we are trying to chase down .

The final score doesn’t do justice to how effectively we controlled that game.
Great to get the home win for the first time in a long time!

You’d have thought something would have been released at this stage if he was going to get a ban. Indeed. Whilst it didn't result in anything more serious than a bit of overacting, it's not clever and is generally quite frowned upon. Weren't one EIHL team talking of signing someone a while back who'd already been suspended twice for headbutting this season already? I believe it was us!

The timing of the 3rd power break was really frustrating, we were just going on the PP, had built great momentum and it really sucked the life out of that… and added to the fact that blaze then called the Timeout right at the end of that break really put the cherry on top of that situation.
They’re not allowed to do the power break Once the minimum time point has been reached if the play is dead because of icing, they should've been a bit cleverer in not doing it until after the end of the PP.

Why do people leave before OT? Don’t get it. Maybe work, transport issues or any other multitude of reasons.

When the coach of the teams biggest rivals comes out with such an interview like this it really shows how much of a lack of empathy/understanding the vocal minority has for the real situation our team are going through at the minute.

It is very difficult to look past anything other than a Steelers win. That’s just based on how good they are in comparison to the rest of the league this season.
I think with where we currently are as a team/club whilst hoping for a win we should savour the good moments when they come through the game whether that’s a good shift, Powerplay, a hit, a goal, a fight whatever it may be.
I would love us to score first as I think the noise will be incredible.
There is so much that the team and staff are facing currently that isn’t necessarily in the public eye & it’s not just as simple some people think it is to turn it around.

We never had an official captain this season. At one point Neill was described as a “co” captain but this was at the point we only had a selection of “A”s in the early part of the season and then after the return following the hiatus after the AJ situation. Who was he 'co' captain with. I forget? What a time to decide who should be captain - in January. As I said in my first post it was just a way it was described at one point, if I remember correctly it was as part of the list of events during the memorial game it wasn’t as if it was an official designation for him or anyone else (could be corrected on this though). I don’t know who the initial players wearing the A were and I’m not going back through the news archives or game sheets tbh

As much as I think Rok is a good netminder If we had swapped netminders with Belfast today, we would have won. The forwards work so hard for their goals, only to give up softies all the time. It must be so demoralising for the team. For half the game we were in it but then all round defensive frailties showed and the forwards worked hard yes in general play but last night were extremely shot shy (only 15 in the whole game so your point misses the mark imo) We were beaten by a better outfit last night and there wasn’t a simple solution (and pinning It on just one guy isn’t the right view of the game)to have swung the result another way especially after midpoint of the game.

I would not be surprised if Ollie is out for a long time. Especially reading between the lines now they have named Caruso as captain until the end of the season. Me too but Neill was the captain (transferred to an 'A') and Caruso takes over, any understanding why? Believed one vice captain changed with Betteridge still assumed on that role, but as you say Neill and Lemay are the secondary now. We never had an official captain this season. At one point Neill was described as a “co” captain but this was at the point we only had a selection of “A”s in the early part of the season and then after the return following the hiatus after the AJ situation.

15 shots on goal is never gonna be a good foundation to set up a win.
We need to be better at not allowing by our goalie to be screened 3/4 of the goals Rok was unsighted.
Michaud was tripped after the faceoff before the one that led to the fight by Ben Lake (who was fantastic for giants, an irritant all night, did lots well on and off the puck) but then wouldn’t answer his actions so Michaud picked the next best option and did a great job standing up for himself.
This and the Guildford game have proved that hockey can still be played with an edge, physicality and all round entertainment. Shame the results are not coming our way.

Not going too well for Cardiff in game one, 3-1 down to Astana. Lost 5-2. Need a win today against GKS, who beat Herning on p/s It can be out of their hands before they even play, if Nomad win in regulation in the first game they’ll beat devils on the head to head (assuming this is the tie breaker) even if the results go in devils favour rest of the weekend.

Is Corey no longer involved at Dresden ? They've just appointed a new head coach and Corey doesn't appear on either the team's website or ep page. He’s been at most of our games in the last month or so as a spectator. Would be nice for Logan to get his first competitive goal for us whilst Corey has the chance to see it
