Hazeldine is a future top drawer D man, but inexperienced at that level. That said, he has absolutely looked the part here, I'd take him for the experience (at least) over at least one of that list. Strange to me that possibly 2 of the best forwards the coach has to pick from are ruled out for "off-ice issues", shall we say? What's the story with Joey Lewis, surely he should be in with a shout? Joey Lewis made the squad the last time we were at this level, only played twice and didn’t look up to it imo. Hasn’t made a GB squad since either.

Got to love EIHL O/S headline today with Devils v Giants playing “with 2nd place on the line”. Err Devils are 8 points ahead with 6 games left ! 🤣🙄 Going by memory , giants will only have 4 games after today though so if devils win giants wouldn’t be able to surpass the deficit

Had the opportunity to upgrade to Farmer/Boxill in 13/14, and did so. Decisions like that are made in sport all the time. IIWII. Heart and soul yes, but the facts are that 70 league, cup and playoff games passed without a single goal that season. I'm sure you'd be all over a player with those kind of stats these days, no matter how much he grafted? And I don't think anyone has "sacked" Kelsall yet? Corey also made the decision to sack Meyers and get Weaver - which seemed very harsh at the time but worked out ok in the end Levers was a good player but like you say, 0 points and he went down a league after that. My understanding is it was DM choice to leave as opposed to a panthers choice … either way it worked out really well for us!

Is this another catch up game? Otherwise someone’s planning this last couple of weeks has been dire. I think it was, the announcement of the date for this game I think came January some time and I think it might have been as a knock on effect to a change of another game (possibly around the challenge cup QF for other teams but I could be wrong)

Otto’s goal tally is definitely a shining light in a miserable season. However for all the clamouring for his re-signing (hey I’m in that camp) I just can’t see it as he’s just adding value with each tuck. I think he’ll make himself too expensive for us or find himself in a better league. We could offer a Uni Place That only has value if the player is interested/needing of one. I don’t know if he is for reference. He is one of only a small number I would like to see back next season but I just think with his performance here this season along with his goals per game ratio in other leagues in the last couple of years may seem him move on to greener pastures to challenge himself

Really enjoyed the pregame piece for Paul Adey.
Jerseys/music were great within the retro theme.
Deprés was absolutely brilliant in this game, really showed his pedigree. Despite obviously tiring through logging so many minutes he was able to great himself plenty of time and was very calm and assured.
Absolutely fed up of seeing the same culprits throwing pizzas into our own slot. We need to be absolutely ruthless with some of the roster decisions in the summer.
I get that there will be a greater sentiment attached to this group but we need to aspire to improve on at least 75% of the roster we have.

with the injuries we’re dealing with Are we expecting any of them back this weekend? Probably not is my thought, based on what I believe the injuries are I’d personally be surprised to see some of them again this season

It would’ve been a struggle to get a win anyway due to the gulf between the teams but with the injuries we’re dealing with also being a factor it’s difficult to see anything other than a Steelers win.
However whilst it would be delaying the inevitable in terms of them wrapping up the title it would be amazing if we could conjure up a miracle and finally get a win over Steelers especially in a full building.

playoff update. Boivin at Rouen begin the SF series v Cergy Pontoise (JP's old team) on thursday. In the Czech league playoffs, Jonathan Kirk (not Panthers but doing well at this higher level) is leading points scorer in the playoffs and Litvinov take a 2-0 lead in their qf series with Kometa Brno. In Slovakia, HC Spisska Nova Ves (new team of Viktor Bjorkung) begin the play off series with a win. but without Viktor, who doesn't play. *Liam Kirk

Was watching the Glasgow webcast and Murph was interviewing Stephen Desrocher. Only half listening, but thought that when Murph asked him what number he was playing, he said he wanted 47, but as “the league” were retiring 47 he was playing 24. Made me wonder if they were delaying retirement until the playoff weekend. Kind of think that would be really fitting, but then again I’d definitely like it to be at our Arena. Whatever, it will be a fitting tribute. There could be many factors in what’s causing the ceremony not to have happened yet, especially the ongoing inquest etc also wanting to respect any wishes of Adam’s family (they should be at the forefront of any consideration) I have no issue with the league wanting to retire the number across the board & I understand the impact on not just the league as a whole but also the sport in general… but it should be Panthers that get to do the honours, he was part of our team, our group of players and staff have had to deal with the trauma in a more direct manner than other teams/clubs. The way we dealt with the memorial and then memorial game gives me so much faith in how much of a good job the club will do to honour the number retirement correctly. If the league want to do something then fine but that should come after what Panthers do.

How many coaches come in and see it click in their first season? Before a puck was dropped this season, many were laughing that Steelers coach was still employed. They have stuck with him, added year on year and have reaped the rewards. Parades has a good record over time, and can be forgiven for this year given the AJ situation. His stock was / is still high after his record in France to improve teams over time. Go for an overseas coach again and you have to give them a season (or two) to create any serious impact. Unfortunately I feel Paredes will leave at the end of the season, you get the impression the situation has taken its toll on him. But I do agree with you though, you have to give a coach time/ numerous seasons to build a team. If Paredes does want to stay and try and building something then great, if not, where do we look? Bruce Richardson maybe? Bruce has had his time in this league, is building a very nice career for himself after his time in the QMJHL and now in the junior ranks of the team Canada set up, coming back to the EIHL would be a massive career regression for him.

But missing caruso, neill, Nielson Listening to the interview that BBC Nottingham did with Paredes after the Fife game, you get some insight from him with regards the injuries. Sounds as though Neill will be out for a while… www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0hj741wI’d be surprised if we saw Carl play again this season

Expected result. Will certainly be two this year, could well be the lot. A teeth-gritted congratulations to the Yorks. If Steelers win their next 4 games they will win the league in Nottingham a week on Saturday 23rd March. (Assuming Cardiff keep winning but lose to Steelers) I reckon they’ll want to do it the day after though at home. Knowing Steelers usual attitude towards us they’d probably rather do it on our ice. They’d dine off that one for years.

Can someone please ring Pasha and tell him that’s what a gold standard looks like I love the irony of fixating on the gold standard comment when you can’t even get the guys name right. Gold standard of posting 😉

The complete lack of urgency we displayed in what was a must win game was so disappointing, absolutely not near the compete levels we have shown.
Been a while since I’ve left the rink with such a sense of dejection.

I’d be very surprised , Pacha already forked out for travel and accommodation to Clan this week as the team said it as pointless coming from Cardiff home only to be back on the road early, they travelled to Carlisle as a mid point . Then again Pacha already up in Dundee home. A very touch schedule again this weekend especially with the travel No he’s not, he’s literally in the next box from me as the game is beginning.

I too hope they aren’t travelling on game day. Win here would be lovely Lol ok, the only time panthers have travelled down the day before is a cup final and even that used to be as rare as rocking horse crap! You’ll be needing a pooper scooper for that rocking horse this week.

This game is now massive, I'm sure we'll get behind them as we have been doing. Why is this game on Tuesday, the Darts is Thursday, do they need Wednesday to set it up? Whatever the reason, the off/on ice schedule for the arena has the day listed for “load in” following conversion immediately after our game on Tuesday. Whilst not being clear when the darts was originally announced, or even our game, if it was before we needed to reschedule a lot of games maybe it was just left with Tuesday as the only suitable option

There is a cycle every few years of new fans who have yet to come to the realisation of what the GW collecting world is about and just get taken in by the hype. However if that’s how they want to spend their money then fair play to them, not doing anyone any harm.
My main issue with the current situation with the GWJ is for the most part they aren’t “unique” any more. Back in CH days there would be 2 sales (1 home & 1 anway) and that would be it. There are so many of the same player/jersey from one season these days the value is absolutely diluted and that’s before you even dare look into the actual players jerseys (there’s about 437 tousignant ones out there for example).

I think the power break is taken in the first whistle that isn’t a goal after 8 minutes? This or if there has been an icing.

He left as soon as he came off the ice after his last game I wouldn’t say that it wasn’t as immediate as this as he was around the arena at the Devils midweek game.

Thanks for correcting that, misremembering who had the puck, Well the call may have been incorrect but I feel the penalty was deserved for the action. The multiple angles available made it a bit of a bad look for Mike. As you say it didn’t cost us and it certainly galvanised the crowd as I felt the atmosphere had waned a little during the 2nd period and everyone got behind them. I'll be honest though. Interference calls are my biggest bugbear, or should I say no calls. It happens dozens of time a game to the letter of the law without being called. Then they just pull a call out when they feel like it. I absolutely agree with you there! I don’t it being called/not called if there is some consistency at least!

As the player skated across him after the face off his grabbed him around the chin/face when the puck was nowhere near really. he was the puck carrier. Without doubt. Clearly views are different but it was in front of me and as far as I was concerned the replay on the big screen confirmed it. Anyway. It didnt cost us the game so no point getting to upset about it. 👊 Thanks for correcting that, misremembering who had the puck, I feel the penalty was still deserved for the action. The multiple angles available I watched during the interval made it a bit of a bad look for Mike. Other than the boarding in Tetlow every penalty against us during that 2nd period we were bang to rights. It did certainly galvanise the crowd though and that atmosphere will have no doubt helped the extended penalty killing efforts. Really? How was Carusos interference? As the player skated across him after the face off his grabbed him around the chin/face when the puck was nowhere near really.
