Beat me to it.. The Nottingham Panthers have signed experienced 32-year-old Canadian defenceman Simon Després who was has made 193 appearances in the NHL. Confirmed on the club's Instagram page. Welcome to Nottingham Simon, some CV he's bringing with him.

An integral part of Berlin’s back to back DEL titles recently. An incredible pedigree to bring to the EIHL.
Credit to the club for this one, a really good signing.
Also a lot of credit to him for joining us during a very difficult time, I know he’ll be made to feel most welcome by the team, staff & fans.

Quality cv. The only immediate partially negative thought is why hasn’t he been playing this year already?

A difficult time to move to the club, but he seems to be the right signing with regard to quality and experience. A good effort from the club in difficult times.

Someone saying he used to wear number 47 how weird is that Wow, he did indeed wear #47 for the Penguins at NHL and AHL level, although he never overlapped with AJ. He'd headed to Europe by the time Adam became part of the Penguins organisation.

Looks a very impressive signing and after the season has started.. think he's had injury issues I in the past.. got the size as well. Well done to Omar and Jonathan for pulling this off.

Phenomenal work from the club in these extremely difficult circumstances. I wish Simon a warm welcome, he has my respect for wanting to join us in a difficult period, he must have a good character if he’s willing to come so he should fit in well with this team. I’m excited to see how he gets on after looking at his resume as well

Top signing that. Our import D looks the strongest it has in a very long time, at least on paper.
I continue to be impressed with the way Black is clearly supporting the club at this time.
If rumours are to be believed the forward coming in is also of a very good standard, potrntial ex NHL.
I wonder if they'll stop there or go all out to do it for Adam?

Good signing who we have to give time to get match fit, as stated hasn’t played at all this season. Let’s hope all the remaining players feel well enough to carry on once back in competitive hockey.

If rumours are to be believed the forward coming in is also of a very good standard, potrntial ex NHL. I wonder if they'll stop there or go all out to do it for Adam? Yes, a very good signing. Welcome to Nottingham Simon. He's bringing an impressive CV and clearly the right type of character who is willing to step into what won't be an easy situation to navigate in some respects and ready and willing to make the team better and carry what needs to be carried whilst the other players settle into the return. Extra respect to him for that. Also, brings championship experience which is always a good thing down the stretch, and especially in difficult times Just wanted to echo what you've said about Black. He's clearly over the past weeks spent whatever is required to support the team, to allow them to heal, to give the fans an opportunity to pay their respects and to pay the honour to Adam that he deserved. Not once has there been any hint of impatience or that money is an issue (compare that with Simmsy's petulant whining). He's stepped up for the team and the fans and, in bringing Simon in, he, Omar and Jonathan are clearly looking to build on the great start that the team had had. I'd love to see us do it for Adam this year. And I'm sure there's not a player in the team, or member of the organisation who hasn't had the same thought. Welcome Simon. Looking forwards to what you bring to the team

Nice interview with him here. Definitely sounds like the right guy to bring into the room at this stage, and also clear that he's here to try and win a championship

It looks like the League have also decided that under the circumstances Panthers should be given leniency to replace any player who understandably feels they are unable to continue on after Adam's death.
This was added to the Roster Updates section of the website about Despres' arrival:
"Nottingham Panthers have added non-homegrown player Simon Despres to their roster. This does not count as a change or towards the Panthers' overall roster total of 29 players"
