RIP Adam Johnson
Do people reckon Panthers will be back playing relatively soon?

RIP Adam Johnson Do people reckon Panthers will be back playing relatively soon? I really have no idea but there will be other consequences to deal with too in the fullness of time which could cause problems possibly both for Sheffield and Nottingham

To be honest, I’m all for giving the players all the time they need to recover from this. If we have to forfeit/postpone games, bring in short term cover from lower leagues so be it. Winning a game of Hockey takes a back seat for now.

RIP Adam Johnson Do people reckon Panthers will be back playing relatively soon? Honestly? I don't see Panthers playing either of the Scottish double header games next weekend. Perhaps the weekend after, Saturday the 18th is a more realistic date for a return? I don't think anyone from the league or club really knows and it's not a priority right now. As TJ says, I think even if the team gets back on the ice, some players might need more time, might leave or even retire so we'll potentially be drafting in players (if such a thing happens I imagine the league would relax roster rules). I also think Sheffield will probably be in a similar situation. Maybe they can get back on the ice sooner, but I don't think their return can be rushed either.

Winning a game of Hockey takes a back seat for now. I second that. Honestly if the team and players said they're done for the season and would be forfeiting all their games until next season I'd be fine with that. And I'd support them in that decision if that's they way they went. Don't get me wrong I love my hockey, but part of that is recognising what the players give in order to do their job. Right now, I wouldn't want to ask anything of them. It's going to be tough enough for me to step back inside the arena on Saturday to pay my respects, and even more so to go to my first game back. So I can't even imagine what it would be like for them. So for this hardened Panthers fan of over 20 years I'm good with whatever they decide, whenever they decide it.

It's an awkward and new situation which can only be left into the players hands. Officialdom will guide and apply as needed. We will have to accept whatever is decided.

Just echoing what's been said above, it'll be down to the players I would expect.
Some might see getting back onto the ice as the best way of trying to move forward, others would rather not. Some might want a fresh start away from Nottingham, closer to family, in which case I would expect that the club are willing to accommodate that, others might feel they want to say and play a part in the healing process here.
Whatever happens and whatever is decided, we'll be there.

The next scheduled home league game is the 26th November so potentially as that's basically a month that might be a target date.
However those decisions are probably not being thought about until at least Saturdays memorial has taken place and even then it's still a day by day process.

It will be a few weeks yet, I wont mention names as don't want to cause any problems but almost certain they wont go to Scotland and could be a couple of weeks after that, I think we will have a better idea next week. I can also see us pulling out the cup as the longer things are left the available dates to play are limited. They've all got to decided together what is the best way forward for themselves and then the healing process will be begin.

I wonder if we will play again this side of Christmas and I reckon some players may leave. I can’t fault them.

As a bit of context: Danny Stewart (Coach of the Blaze) was quite open this week about the fact that even he doesn't know how his own players and other teams players will react to the experience of playing this weekend. So how it would be for directly affected teams and players in returning to the ice he can't even imagine. It's here for those that might want to listen: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gqd284

Everyone connected with the club needs to figure out what’s best for themselves individually & also as a collective. Given what Kevin Moore said in Balero Square, I’d be surprised if the season was cancelled, although I certainly agree with EMB regarding withdrawing from the CC.
We as fans just need to support all those concerned with this terrible situation.

I'm assuming this is a week by week thing because I would have imagined that if more games are postponed, then we would have been told.
I agree that I think we will withdraw from the Challenge Cup.
I would say that if the Scottish double header is postponed, then we should be told ASAP, whilst we would be very understanding, re-arranging more time off and any bookings made would have to be done by the fans attending. It's not like a trip to Manchester.
Currently tickets for The Dundee and Fife games are still on sale.
Presently we don't know what the players and staff's minds are at. Maybe they've had light skates and want to getaway from Nottingham and they might feel that a trip to Scotland might do them good.
It could be a case that Panthers and Steelers opponents Dundee, Fife, Manchester and Coventry are following the precedent set by the COVID Season, where they are re-arranging fixtures, so they play each other
I'm also thinking that the teams and league need to be on the same page regarding press releases, Social Media posts...etc.
I think as fans, we are constantly checking to see if anymore news has come out. Maybe if someone from the EIHL would come out with a time of when news will come out.
Apologies if I come across all cold hearted, that is certainly not may intention.

I go back to Viktors comments in a recent interview about how the roster is feeling. Some are considering walking away from the sport.
At this level, it’s a short career with players needing to work when their playing days end. I would not be surprised if some walk accelerate those plans.
It’s a high intensity sport - you’re either 100% committed or you aren’t. I wouldn’t blame anyone if they decide this is no longer for them.
We were already short of players- so at some point a decision has to be made. Do we try and bring players in, or do we scrap the season?
Can the club afford to do that and survive?
I think we all would support whatever decision is made.

I go back to Viktors comments in a recent interview about how the roster is feeling. Some are considering walking away from the sport. I think we all would support whatever decision is made. Rick Strachan acknowledged today that some may not feel able to return to the ice and that the team has no timescale for anyone's return; that they're taking it day by day and focused on getting through each day together and making sure everyone has all the support and access to counselling they need to cope the best they can. Rightly so, they have no view on a return right now It came up at the end of his interview tribute to Adam which can be heard here www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0gqs3jc

Adam would probably want his team mates to play but it isn't that simple I imagine

I would imagine it's a week to week decision, currently the games this weekend are still on sale. If these games weren't going to be played, then surely, we would have known.
The Cardiff game was postponed last Monday evening.
It could also be a case of multiple things need to be put in place like switching fixtures, roster changes rules before we get more information.

Exercising some element of patience is key here, many factors to consider regarding the further postponements with the foremost thing to consider being the welfare of our players but a statement will come in due course I am sure of that.

As I understand it, as of yesterday some of the players (Nieminen being one) as well as Parades are/were no longer in the country. Whether that's because they've gone home to reflect or have gone to Adams funeral I don't know.
As others have said I don't think we will be playing this weekend in Scotland. It's far too soon for me, and I'm just a fan, not a player.

Heard it was Sunday when we were at the arena Saturday. Wondered if some of the players would attend or if it was going to be private for the family?
