Hearing Chris St.Jacques to the Elite League. Anyone remember him from his Edinburgh days? Very good player, remember him being the best part of a trio that didn't stay around long and got quickly snapped up

Braehead sign Alex Leavitt... One hell of a signing right there!

Is this a serious rumour? Never really noticed him at Hull...

Also says on the site that this isnt the original "imminent" signing and says at the bottom of that press release it says: "And Corey added he’s had a few conversations with a player who plays the game hard and who will bring a physical presence to the Panthers’ blueline." Can't be Westgarth then...

Big hitting, intimadating d-man... Exactly what we've missed dearly.
This should give our skilled guys room to play. Big signing and big statement made!

You need a Lepine type player, it's the key role that won us the title (along with Wilson) and it's the role we've been missing.
Someone who can play well and solidly, but acts as the deterrent so our skilled guys can flourish without always keeping an eye out for trouble.
Tyson Marsh is the best example of such player from last season... And compare how Cardiff's forwards did against ours!

Good/great numbers put up in Finland, Slovakia, Austria plus a few good years in the states. Always performed above EIHL standard and put up comparable numbers to very good keepers - he managed 91.7% in 32 games for Banska where Josh Unice could only make 2 games and 87% svs... And i really rated Unice.
However he has bounced around clubs in recent years after a great career start.
If he can settle early in the season, build on the faith given to him by Corey then I can see Wiikman being a true force in the EIHL. Unfortunately however, I could also see him being gassed by November. I sincerely hope the former happens.

Never rated him for us, never rated him for Braehead against us, probably won't rate him for Cardiff either. Usually had one or two good shifts a game, generally in the first period, but went missing for far too much of most games, especially the important ones. Everyone raves about his performances for Clan, but when they needed someone to step up and show real leadership on the run-in he was anonymous for far too much of the games I saw. Might crop up on a lot of highlight reels, but I prefer a player you can count on when everything's on the line and I've seen nothing yet to convince me Salters is that type of player. Hopefully he will prove me wrong again next season! That sounds a lot like you saw him just play the Panthers at the NIC..., Could be wrong

I wouldn't be surprised if Lacho decided to move abroad and see what he could do. He's doing well at EIHL level but I'd be happy to see him push himself. He's coming into prime age to do so.
I don't think anyone would argue that it could do any harm for him - I'm struggling to think of a Brit who's been abroad and not come back far better...(could argue Dowd)? Farmer didn't have a great time in the U.S, neither did Myers before him. Clarke struggled with injury in Italy and I don't think Swindlehurst made a regular season game. However, they all came back stronger players!

I have to say that i liked our defensive unit this season, excepting in the tonking we got from lulea in the chl games. Mike berube and bryan schmidt seem to me to be becoming season 14/15's scapegoats. Taking everything in to perspective i do not think that it is deserved. Good post this & a very valid point. Our D was fine until March then mistakes came creeping in. One or two of our forwards were pure rubbish all year. Berube has certainly been made a scapegoat. That said I still wouldn't want him back. Agreed, it was the lack of goals that stuffed us.

I think we need a reshuffle. Firstly, although we owe him a great debt and when he does play he (especially at the end of this season) stands on his head, Kwall just hasn't been durable enough over the past 2 seasons for us to mount a serious challenge. I thought Modig could be his successor but I've lost that feeling. We'd need a premier GK to come in instead though - someone with a consistent 91-92% save average and 2.00 goals against average over the past 4/5 years.
We need at least 2 wingers who have had 4/5 consecutive seasons scoring 20+ goals. Mark Derlago would match Steelers have Roy.
On defence we need a Lepine figure again. This has been so sorely missed since Gui left. He lets the forwards grow in statue and play their game... Imagine how much more confident Farmer would be! Maybe if we could woo Tyson Marsh over?
I'm also a big fan of the Tanaka brothers. Both work so hard, draw penalties, fast as lightening and drive to the net. Point production of Cale isn't as high but they are ideal 'engine rooms' who go out and make things happen.
A top end centre would be nice too. Perfect example would be a Yannick Tifu type guy would chips in with a goal too and has captained his teams before.
From our current team I'd like to keep the Brits, Wild, Mosey and Doucet. I'm undecided on Benedict as he undoubtedly works hard but his end product has been decreasing every season. I thought this year we had too many would work their socks off but struggle to produce anything. If I could swap Brandon for a Leigh Salters or Josh Brittain then I probably would do.
Off ice of course the webcasts to games would be great.
