His main issue was the lack of effort. I, like pretty much every other Panthers fan, love a plucky Brit... The raw enthusiasm and determination of players such as Boxill and Levers is what British ice hockey is all about.
Lacho however is the opposite. He's too comfortable in his position. You could watch him every game give away goals, choke up pucks and forget the back-check (yes I said it for all those who still thinks he regularly robs players post 2014), but still come out shift after shift. Corey tried him with every known combination of line-mates last year and Lacho didn't click with any of them.
Unlike every other British player I can currently think of in the EIHL, he enters corners with a box of eggs in his pockets with aspirations of a decent omelette after the game.
The fact is Lacho is the most talented Brit on the Panthers roster, like a British Johnny Gaudreau he could be playing in a top Euro league on talent only. For mental attributes he should be in the EPL.

He's a party boy who's more interested in hitting the bars after the game than hitting the twine in play

Connor Brown to Panthers.. One day? Recently started following us, follows Lawrence already and I believe knows David Ling. He's 22 and a 2012 Draft Pick, puts up great numbers so almost certain he wouldn't step down to our league, though he is a free agent. Hardly a rumour I know but after Corey's comments about being suggested a guy by a former player, who'd be a favourite in our jersey.. Also follows Mike Ellis who I believe has some place in the Maple Leafs franchise.... Pretty much definite not to be in Nottingham for the next few seasons, maybe 5 or 6 years time he'll fancy a move though.

Interesting looking at Eliteprospects page for Mika - someone correct me if I'm wrong - 43 games for us equalled his previous highest games in one season (including any seasons he switched clubs and juniors).

A risk in my opinion. Undoubtedly brilliant but I'm just not sure he's durable enough. The past 3 regular seasons have largely lost due to GK injuries and lack of response.
From Kwall/Conway, Kwall/Modig & Wiikman/Madolara I must admit I was hoping more for a 'Keeper who has at least 3 years playing injury free for the best run at a league title.
Let's hope injuries subside & Mika has a trouble free season!

swindlehurst wont be back next year \ Apparently Swindlehurst viewed as making too many mistakes, while Oakford progressed. If that's how Swindlehurst was viewed, God knows how you describe the majority of Steve Lee's season!

anyone from the season just gone from other teams that we'd like to see in a panther jersey next year? ...I'd take a defensive pairing of Vandermeer & Jackman happily

Saved by the cups IMO.
3 years of very average (and mostly disappointing) league performances. I don't think he'd have been back if we'd flopped again in the CC and Playoffs.
Look to the future though and build on these 2 cups like we did for the Grand Slam, I'm feeling more positive than I thought I would.

Best moment - Fox's goal to seal the grand slam.
Best Goal - Boynton's thunderbolt in 2005
Biggest heartbreaker- Ash Tait's game winner in 2005... Kudrna stood on his head in goal for a solid month in order for us to get there!
Best game - Panthers vs Cardiff in 2011 - didn't we fall behind 3 times before Beau's winner?!

Oh dear! I have nothing against Can being signed as he is great and does a good job in many departments. What I am worried about is who has signed him? Do we assume Nelson has signed him ( and therefore Nelson is staying? I like many do not want Cory back) or has someone else (possibly GM signed him?) And if that is so, should he be involved at all at resigning players? 100% assured Cory Nelson won't be part of the Panthers in 2016/17

Think everyone's gettin a bit carried away, you want your captain being on the ice for a fair margin of the game so unless his ice time is ramped up then i wouldn't want this happening. You need your captain out there leading by example. Not to say he wouldn't be brilliant but given his lack of ice time for the majority of games it seems a bit pointless. Janssen has a lot of ice time... If anything he has been underused. Best example to counter this argument though, I remember the season before he came to Nottingham, Steve McKenna had the 'C' in absence to Mario Lemieux in Pittsburgh. I don't think McKenna used to ice over 5mins per game!

Statement signing by Panthers with 2 years.
How many people (Panthers as well as fans of other teams) thought he'd be gone by Christmas. Turned out to be one of the smartest and controlled enforcers on the block.
Let him ring his mates from the NHL & AHL and sell them the dream here too!

Don't know if anyone has posted this elsewhere but Giants have created this frankly brilliant video of Matt Nickerson's race to 20 goals...
Such an amazing gulf in class from Panthers media output.

Should they stay or should they go?
Madolora - Go. Decent spells, no consistency. Wiikman - Go. Not durable enough. Green - Stay.
MacDonald - Stay. Really like him, very solid. Schmidt - Go. Good start, petered out. Dimmen - Go. Never quite clicked in I didn't feel. Quick - Stay. Like him, solid. Oakford - Stay. Waugh - Go. Good start, not the same back from injury. Lee - Go. Too unconfident in possession. Swindlehurst - Stay.
Clarke - Stay. Not as Captain. Lachowicz - Go. Playing at EPIHL level. Myers - Stay. Bohmbach - Go. Too inconsistent. Kolnik - Stay. Awesome all-round player. Schultz - Go. Amazing start, disappeared since Jan. Mosey - Stay. Unbelievable season. Lawrence - Go. We can do better. Farmer - Stay. Moran - Stay. But only plays well when with Kolnik. MacMillan - Stay. Good worker. Janssen - Stay. Made Captain and can ring his NHL/AHL mates over the summer. Betteridge - Stay. Probably best on a 2-way deal.

If I owned the Panthers: -Bring in Russell from the Storm as GM. He's created genuine connections with the team and fanbase. If he can build that buzz with a 1000 fans every week, give him resources and 6000 fans. At the very least a positive move away from Gary. -North American head coach (bench) with experience on a 3 year deal. Goal = 1 league win within that time and providing they don't fail spectacularly give then the 3 years. Cups are nice, playoffs are too, but the league is what matters. -Webcast, Social media interaction, non belittling attitudes from management in news storis. - Improve atmosphere. It's a library and while casual fans don't always add to it, there are thousand of little things the club could do or a couple of big things. The one we really miss is a dedicated singing block. Name amother sport with decent crowds that doesn't have this? Can't think of the rest right now but I'll be back! Can't argue with that. The cultural difference between us & North Americans is that they will always value the Playoffs ahead of the league... That trickles down from the NHL. I think the league being the main focus is an alien concept to them & needs to be taught/learnt. Also, I think your first point has covered your last point.

I think there were loads of Steelers fans just 'advising' the staff not to let people walk up there stairs while the puck was in play... Apparently they don't take kindly to that!

If you can't remember Rob Bellamy being fast, you can't remember Rob Bellamy... He was rapid!
Very close between him and Mosey.
Cam Janssen is very quick, does does carry the puck with his speed

Lacho used to be brilliant defensively, a real nuisance that could dive in and take pucks away with ease. I've been to all but one game this year and seen him do something like that maybe 4 or 5 times all season. As for coaches using players differently, Corey hasn't tried to alter his game at all. For large spells this season he tried pairing him with Schultz & Bohmbach! You must be joking. He's been paired with them yes, but look at the others he paired them with all have been defensively minded or puck containment players. He's also tried using Lacho as a center this season, you're either blind or completely ignorant of you csn honestly say you don't see a difference in how he's being used. His main area of use this season has been in neutral zone coverage and floating high in the defensive zone. He's a secondary scorer his best assets are his defensive abilities. He's always a main stay PK man has been for years for a reason.his point production has been poor even for a secondary scorer but he's been of more use at relieving pressure at the red line than anyone else on the team. If he does go and gets put into a new system guarantee he'd be used in almost the same fashion. All i see from the way he's utilised is restriction and not a player that we seem to allow to roam more freely and take risks. Let's not get upset and agree to disagree on this one

It's interesting to hear people different takes on Swindlehurst recently. From my point of view I thought he'd been playing well - mainly because he's scored a few nice goals and in most other games I've seen him icing but not noticing him (normally a positive for any d-man to be unnoticed).
On the flip side I notice Steve Lee throwing out loose passes and often caught in possession. To me, Stevie seems to have lost a lot of confidence since November (correlated to the form of the team).
That's just been a casual interpretation though as I've not really paying much attention to PS recently, so it's fascinating how bad some people reckon he's been.
Having thought about it more this afternoon though, this move makes sense for both teams. If PS is to remain on loan into next season though, it's a massive blow to Corey's reputation of nurturing British talent!
