Big hitting, intimadating d-man... Exactly what we've missed dearly.
This should give our skilled guys room to play. Big signing and big statement made!

Great signing. Peckham is not going to be this big fighter people are expecting. He'll finish the year with 2-3 fights max. We still need a big, tough winger who will drop the gloves regular.

Great signing. Zukiwskyfan I don't think it matters that he won't fight loads it just the fact that he can and will if needed. Something we missed last year imo. How many more D man have we got to sign or is that it ?

So glad this finally done.
Fingers crossed he should be good for a point or two per game.
Played in Europe so won't be as much as an adjustment for him as other NHLers in our league.

That's it, off ticket office tomorrow to renew season tickets! Calibre of players being signed all over bodes well for some cracking games to come.

Is there a trend again for teams to sign 'tough guys'? Last time I remember it happening, most teams had got rid of them around Xmas time, as they were too much of a liability, & hurting their own team much more than they were hurting the opposition. This guy seems a hoot, I hope he's around a good while!

Just "checking" it is Peckham and not "Chubby Pecker"?

Wow, some great signings coming through now. Really liking the new faces we've got. If we carry on like this it's a real statement of intent for next season.

It does differ fRom year to year what's needed to win the league which makes things exciting for sure but makes off season recruitment difficult as you wait to the hand the title contenders are playing. I don't feel we need Westgarth and Peckham and hope we focus away from tough guys now. Despite my earlier skeptisism I am now feeling a bit more hopeful for next season. One of those situation where the best outcome is to be proved wrong.

Guys played 160 games in the show and is only 27. That's a good start. The guy can hit - another excellent attribute. The guy looks after his own - well, that's just being greedy!

Peckham. I wonder if his match night music tune will be the Only Fools & Horses theme? ?

Also says on the site that this isnt the original "imminent" signing and says at the bottom of that press release it says: "And Corey added he’s had a few conversations with a player who plays the game hard and who will bring a physical presence to the Panthers’ blueline."

Peckham is not an out and out tough guy. He'll be very tough for this league, but I don't think he was playing the enforcer role in the AHL or even NHL, which should mean he's a very very good player in this league.
Cracking signing. Get Westgarth as well and we can sign pure skill from now on. Westgarth should be good for a point a game easily if played the right way - which is a lot more than Parent, Jacina and most of the rest of last year's team.

Can't be Westgarth then...

I'd hope not. Westgarth would be a waste of an import slot IMHO. Phoned it in for Belfast last year.
Zuk's "2 to 3 fights max" is a quote worth saving.

One hell of a signing on paper. If he plays full pelt every night I'm sure we'll be very happy at the end of next season.

Loving this. Finally have some protection on the ice. The guy doesn't need to fight, just his presence will be enough.
