The Atlanta Thrashers are non-existent, they don't compete. A bit like saying e.g. if Black sold the Panthers and hockey ceased in Nottingham for him to buy a London team instead, the Panthers still exist. TBF I thought it was the same ownership that moved them. Didn't realise they were sold to a new ownership group in Winnipeg. However the franchise system in NA does mean that the Thrashers are now in Winnipeg. It's not like they were shut down and a new team started, it's just a move. ...Exactly my first point, teams come and go Take your pick from any others like Quebec, Hartford, Brooklyn, Minnesota North Stars etc

2011 Atlanta Thrashers relocated to Winnipeg Canada "the team's ownership group claimed it had lost US$130 million in the last six years" But they still exist. Does Alexandre Giroux sound feasible to join to Panthers? www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=796335 years old (same age as Kolnik), was on a line in the AHL with Brad Moran in 2011. Out and out goal scorer, perhaps if you totalled up Kolnik (if he decides against coming) and Myers salaries it could tempt him to play out his days here. Despite being notoriously tight with money, Panthers have often been keen to make a statement/big CV signing (Mann, Ling, Kolnik, Moran etc) and I think we're still waiting for one in 16/17.

Curtis Leinweber has left Dundee for the Germany 3rd division. Always rated him and think he's selling himself short down there! Not if he proves himself. It is a more effective stepping stone than our league with simplified progression. Really?? Don't know many guys coming out the Oberliga... A few gems in the DEL2 maybe.

Why do some posters keep on about the best players? Hav'nt they learnt from what Mr Brooks said"its not the best players but the right ones. lets wait and see. I think that every season and bar one season it has failed miserably. Corey can't pull it off. He hasn't got the coaching experience and contacts. Could you even go as far to say the Grand Slam was more luck than judgement?

For pure entertainment and setting the tone, Cam Janssen's first game against Belfast... Squaring up with Nickerson first then, after watching the usual antics of Keefe/Lloyd, he gets thrown on after a few dodgy hits start flying and seeing little cheap digs etc, skates on shaking his head at them both. Didn't hear a peep out of AK or DL for the rest of the game!
I remember the crowd being electric and it was the first sign of what impact and intimidation Cam brought with him.

As anybody done a post and said I like this player and the a few day later Panthers sign him? Panthers seem to sign the players that nobody as every thought of!!!!! Yes, me! Look back on bottom of page 6 and through page 7 of this thread. I put Matt Carter's name in the ring due to just fancying the look of him and (at the time) a very tenuous thing I'd heard which made me look at him.

So what are we looking for now? One last import forward (I'm hoping for Kolnik or similar quality) to link up with Moran/Schultz. Then do we need 2 or 3 import d-men?
I take it if we sign Oakford again we'll go for 2 d-men and possible another 2 forwards?? I'm losing track of import rules now

Called it weeks ago on the rumours section. He's best mates with Brown and Lawrence plus his Twitter account is littered with Panthers retweets.
A bit of a 'wait and see' signing. His form in France was brilliant (28 goals + 26 assists in 37 games) as was his junior/college years. ECHL numbers weren't much to write home about but a forward at 225lbs can often be typecast in that league.

Look at who Manchester brought in today, Trevor Johnson who's captained championship winning sides in Italy... That's the kind of leader we should be aiming for too.

I thought he tailed off towards the end of the season. Went from being deadly with Kolnik to quite distant as the season progressed. Really? He was the main reason Mosey came into such prominent form at the end of the season I definitely didn't put Mosey's form down to Moran, not heard that credit before either? There was so much line changing, few players got much time pairing up with anyone in the final few months. Don't get me wrong, Moran is a good player of course, I just thought past Feb he went quiet (probably get proved wrong if someone dug up stats though)!

Janssen for the C - he seemed to take on the captain role last season.
Moran for A instead of Myers.
Got a feeling Neilson will plump for Lee though, which would be a travesty seeing how poor he's been the past 2 years. He'll probably follow with that line and give Lacho an A too

It'll be interesting to see Clarke without the 'C'. I've never been a fan of him as Captain, didn't seem to have much influence on anything or anyone (highlighted by seemingly only being able to produce when lined with Myers last season).
Can't argue with his product when it does come together but for me he's too much like Chris Lawrence - a character I can see this team embodying... Unplayable and explosive when good, lazy and feckless when bad in equal measures.
Good news on Strachan & as things stand I'd like to see Cam get the 'C' next season.... But that depends who else is to come in I suppose.

I think one of the main objectives for next season should be to utilise the 'Will Grigg's on Fire' chant for a Panther (incase you're unaware please YouTube it)! Suitable names could be Jeff Brown or Steve Schultz. Priorities

Wasn't a big Dimmen fan. Showed great promise early on but I began to see him as a downgrade from Cody Wild. Would much preferred Quick or MacDonald back.

Early days and plenty of twists and turns but I'm not keen on the look of our forward lines.
All seems too risky and built on players who aren't consistent.
Lawrence can be sublime or distant. Schultz was uncontrollable until his injury, came back poor. MacMillan is great but scores infrequently. Brown looks OK but not a great point scorer. Janssen doesn't play a scoring role. Moran wasn't great when we mixed his line mates and became distant. Mosey is fantastic but I wouldn't class him as a first-liner yet.
It's all just reminding me too much of the 14-15 team with too much of a similar kind of player... Jacina, Benedict, Parent, Graham, Higgins plus Lawrence & Mosey were all just too similar and one dimensional.

28 goals in 37 games for Gap isn't too bad. In comparison Petr Kalus had 6 in 20 games. As I say, heard something and it could be way off Carters stats are hard to read. Early carrear in America they look very meh and not what we need. But he does seem to have kicked on in France. I still think we need a true play maker in the Ling/ Galbraith/ fox mold. I think his role in the ECHL might put people off thinking he's not able to put up points. He obviously went to France to show his flair again. Takes a good talent to put up 28+23 in 39 games in that league, it's full of speed and skill so not easy to compete at 225lbs. Also a brace in the CHL to boot.

with the signing of jeff brown I would want the rest of the forwards to be point scores. 28 goals in 37 games for Gap isn't too bad. In comparison Petr Kalus had 6 in 20 games. As I say, heard something and it could be way off
