Grass isn't always greener on the other side. Whilst I don't think we've had a great season, we all know what he was set as a priority this season. He recruited a team to win that cup. Which was wrong but he's being made a scapegoat for the goals set by an owner and a GM who are increasingly looking inept. As it has been stated, the problems run deeper. The guy is the most successful coach EIHL history, Panthers history and has been a damn fine servant to this club. A little respect wouldn't go amiss sometimes. A fine servant?? He played with arrogance and now he coaches with arrogance, which quite clearly transmits to the players. He's here because he's paid to be here! and that's the same for Moran! Arrogance in top level sports is not uncommon at all. Torts in hockey, Zlatan, Jose and Clough were all arrogant. Do you know what they all are? Winners. And I don't understand your point about pay? Don't we all go to work to be paid? Sorry folks, you can all pick my post apart but no one will change my mind that's corey deserves the respect of this fan base. People seem to be mistaking that for an acceptance of on ice performances which I find ludicrous.

Ah, so you are the one that stayed to clap? So what about last season and the season before? Ah so because I have a different opinion to you, I'm a happy clapper? I wish we all lived in the black and white world you live in. No I didn't stay and clap. But I was there when we were happy to make 8th place. I was there when we were getting thumped by the big boys week in, week out. Do not mistake my respect for Corey as meaning I am happy with this season or any past seasons. All I am pointing out is, there were much worse time in Panthers history. There have been much worse coaches and a lot of other coaches who couldn't deliver what Corey has to this team. 1 league title is frustrating. But no other team has won what we've won in this time. Sheffield went a couple of seasons with no trophies and granted they won the league 3 times and one playoff title but they had baron spells. Braehead should have won more than a conference title. Giants have won one trophy in the past few years. We've had one season in the past 10 where we haven't lifted a trophy. That isn't a fluke. That isn't luck, regardless of this season, trophies have been delivered.

No one can argue that this was a decent set of results this weekend. And I'm happy we've got some momentum however the thread sums up the apathy of this season. Soon be playoff hockey again mind and we need the build up yadda yadda yadda. To be honest, the game against Sheffield next Friday needs to be the marker going into the playoffs. All the rest are just going through the motions.

For all of Moran's perceived issues, at least what comes of his mouth is guff that tries to flog people things rather than offend them!
It's time like these that I wish we had a fully independent governing body that would rule on this. I

I think this is one topic where we keep the S word banned.
A great gesture by all involved. This should be what all sports should be about: inclusion. What the storm do in the community is absolutely brilliant and you can tell their GM was a giants fan because I believe they are the best at community work lead by Keefe.

Ultimately, whether this was intended as light hearted humour or an attack on the LBGT community, people who are in that sort of position should be socially aware not to make comments like that. Mr Simms has a clear history of that not being the case. He has bought his club into disrepute but also dragged the league into some murky waters with a complete lack of response from them.
I have no idea if he picks up a wage from the Steelers and that may make fining him harder but someone in charge needs to make an example out of this. If you let people get away with the lesser insults (and I use that term fully understanding that to some that's not the case at all, we are setting a precedent for more severe statements to be forthcoming fully knowing there is no punishment for it.

I think people are doing Thompson a bit of a disservice here. Levi Nelson is an irritating twerp but nonetheless a fantastic player recruited by Thompson. That's just one examples let off the top of my head
And Adams certainly didn't recruit perfectly by any stretch of the imagination at the Devils. He recruited Didiomete for one who to this day is still a little bit of a clown.
Finnerty IMO has been an excellent recruiter but a poor coach. He's picked up some gems that have played really well but he's constantly out coached by the others in the league in those big games.

With this structure, the EPL is dead in the water. If we can et bored with our conference structure, imagine how tedious only playing 6 teams all, year will be. It's like the end of the super league again.

I'm actually hoping it is a scrapping of the import limit. There are brits out there good enough to play in the league but they shouldn't get there based on a passport.

You want to be careful Pies, I think GM copyrights the titles of all the yearbooks. Maybe we can write a Cage Forum version of the yearbook - don't worry, I copy righted the title as soon as Lee got the puck in defensive zone with the empty net.

Garbage season. Garbage performance. Lack of killer instinct. The league winning team would smash this team with their eyes closed. Miika kept us in that one for most of it but we put rubbish in front of him. Thank God we can tear this team apart and start again because this team is worse than the team that won nothing in a season. CC win was a distraction in ultimately a turd of a season.

I think every team would rather avoid us in these 2 legged games. Our history in winning the playoffs and CC proves that we don't lose many (I can only think of 3 - the 2 years we didn't make the playoffs and the CC semi to Sheffield). Regardless of the league history, we dont lose that many in the 2 legged format so I'm not going to sit and worry too much

Does anyone know why the Steelers VS Panthers Challenge Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg is 14th February when we played the 1st Leg last week. Why the long gap between Legs? I imagine it's due to ice time.

To be honest, I think blaming the Storm is a cop out for the Phoenix. There's one man to blame for this and most people will know who that is...

Lack of bodies and all 3 of our main scoring threats out. outshot and a complete lack of possession. A 2-1 loss doesn't look that bad all things considered.
Let's be honest, we'll be the happier of the two camps tonight because Sheffield should have won that by a lot more.

I actually think we were the better team for most of that game..but when you give a team a 3-0 head start, there's not many games you can come back from.
I don't blame Wiikman but we just looked lost for the first 12 minutes. He was left out to dry. The goals in the third period were frustrating to concede but at least we kept plugging away. Belfast seem to have our number this year though.
Move onto Sunday now. Not much more we can do!

www.panthers.co.uk/content/challenge-cup-final-–-pre-book-your-tickets-monday-jan-23rdI thought the idea was an excellent one until I read this WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TEAM DOES NOT MAKE THE FINAL? If you make a pre-booking and your team does not make the final, you do not get the £2 booking fee back, but you will receive £2 off the webcast of the Cup Final. So it is scaremongering people into paying up front to ensure they get tickets but then saying you won't get your money back if you don't make it?! If Oanthers do t make it, I don't want to be spending more money on a webcast?!!! Why pick a small venue to play this game when there are 2 arenas that have a better capacity that means this doesn't become an issue. I'm not one for usually complaining about the league but this is a pure money grabbing exercise at best.

12 teams at the playoffs will be great fun! 7000ish tickets to 12 fanbases means fewer seats for us too of course, the non ST fans are already a bit unhappy with the whole thing. Bigger venue required? Absolutely and let's go neutral! Either that or they'll have to add extra seating in. It's proven that Panthers fans will travel to go to watch the team play so moving away from Nottingham isn't a bad thing. The issue is always going to be that the NIC is a funded Centre for ice sports to take away arguably the biggest weekend in U.K. on ice sport night not be popular. I could be wrong!

This will be the nail in the coffin of the EPL in my opinion. It's great for the elite league that we can expand to 12 teams and expand the league down to the South a lot more. It gives the fans slot more variance in opponents, away trips and 12 teams at the playoffs will be great fun!
A few questions that come to mind are the import limits going forward and as already discussed, the conferencing. It's got to be sorted ASAP so we can ensure all teams are competitive next season.
This maybe an unpopular opinion but I would want to see the import limit increased. this is purely down to teams being competitive. There aren't a great deal of Brits playing in the EPL that I have seen that can step up to Elite league level and are in a par with what we already have. You'll be asking part time players to give up their jobs to train full time in what is becoming a higher standard of league. I am aware that the Scottish teams have part time players but there aren't any Brits from those teams that people are screaming out for us to sign
Im in no way suggesting we go back to the extravagance we had pre elite league. I feel we now have owners in place who are more financially astute to make it sustainable in the future.
