Obviously the league went about 3 months ago,but I was just looking at the conference table and it's still all to play for. We're still points back (with games in hand) but because of how many times we play each other we're still in with a shout. It still requires us to be consistent which I don't necessarily believe we can be (except for November, we were pretty consistent then), but it seems to me the only way we'll get home advantage AND a weaker opponent, seemingly either Storm or Fife.

Might as well try our best to get what is left to be gotten. I'd prefer Storm in the QF's, not as good as Fife and obviously don't have Shane Owen in net, plus it's a lot less travelling.

Trying to win the conference (what for?) will mean trying to win points for the league, so that's a non starter. Plus, if you can do that, you should be winning against the lower brigade. I know this is general stuff but that's the point.

It isn't happening for us though,so forget that idea !!

I know this is general stuff but that's the point. But we're 17 points back in the league but only 7 in the conference with lots of 4 pointers to play and games in hand. Also the conference is our best chance of getting a decent seeding for the playoffs. In the league the best we'll be able to get is 4th, win the conference were guaranteed at least 3rd.

I'm like you and don't think it'll happen, but Corey should be telling them it's their beat bet for a decent seed and Gary can pretend it's a worthy trophy again.

I can't remember the season when Panthers won the conference but not the league they got a upgrade seeding number? ?? I assume we did. Don't remember. Just remember choking against Coventry. Seedings should be: 1st: League winners (Cardiff or Belfast) 2nd: Winners of the conference that didn't produce the league winner (Almost certainly Braehead) 3rd: Winners of league winners conference if the league winners didn't win it, otherwise goes to highest placed unseeded team. 4th-8th: just go through league seedin according to league standings.

I think every team would rather avoid us in these 2 legged games. Our history in winning the playoffs and CC proves that we don't lose many (I can only think of 3 - the 2 years we didn't make the playoffs and the CC semi to Sheffield). Regardless of the league history, we dont lose that many in the 2 legged format so I'm not going to sit and worry too much

But straight back to .500 Which is why I can't believe it. Whatever the dice rolls. WE have to be able to improve and no excuses about tiredness, bus legs, thoughts of 'on the right track'.....

In the grand scheme of things taking a more conservative (doesn't mean they didn't try to win) approach last night was probably the right option given the game tomorrow.

Fair enough.I know we dont have the man power, reason to com eto my assumptions. Am not going to back the fact that we can do what some think we can. As 'Kievthegiant' explains on the Cardiff game thread. '...this year we've been poor against the weak teams, but even with full points against the Gardiner and Coventry we'd be 3rd, still 7 points adrift.'

The guys are trying (apart from Carter),most games i don't think you can fault their effort levels.
The problem is though, half the team are just not good enough quality, but that's not the guys fault.........it's the coach who signed them,or the guy who gave him the budget to do so !
