To be honest, I think blaming the Storm is a cop out for the Phoenix. There's one man to blame for this and most people will know who that is...

With Phoenix going, and we assume both MK and Guildford moving up from next season, surely it could pose a big challenge for the EIPHL to continue?

Remember that playoffs with the "6 team league, you're having a laugh" chants from the Phoenix fans?
Most of them wanted the EIHL to fail, so I have little sympathy for them tbh. Especially the ones who refuse to believe anything bad about "that person".
It is sad to see teams fold though, however I may dislike them. A huge pity they weren't managed correctly.

It's a shame for their fans, there but by the grace of God and all that, but once they lost the rink deal it seemed a long way back (the new rink in Manchester always seemed very pie in the sky to me), they probably did pretty well to carry on this far.
Hopefully any bad feeling can be put aside and there's some transfer to the Storm's fanbase.

Sad day for the players!
For the "6 teams you're havin a laugh" fans from that playoff weekend and a number of their self righteous fan base... couldn't be happier it's happened to them!

Greg Pick (D) ex Nottingham played at Slough and Peterborough. James Neil (F) ex Nottingham junior/senior, played for Lions and a couple of games for the Panthers. They are probably somewhere near the best of the Brit players in my limited estimation.

Given that I'd probably be more tempted by Pick as we really need another British D man to fill the void Oakford left.

I like Pick, and he has improved a lot in recent years (was barely EPL standard when he joined Phantoms, improved skating and passing a lot), but he was still 2nd/3rd pair at Phantoms last season. Not EIHL level yet - would sit on the bench all the time. Will be a good pick up for an EPL team somewhere though. he's a tough cookie though, and can scrap a bit, and seemed a good guy in the dressing room, from what I gather. Not sure about Neil, TBHm but Boothroyd would go in that mix if the best Phoenix Brits. But they are bottom of the league for a reason, and the best players have already left...

James Neil played quite a few for Panthers 168 games to be precise scoring a grand total of 3 goals and 1 assist. I dont think he's what we need tbh, although would probably still outscore Lachowicz this season.

Lewis Baldwin would be the only one I'd like to see at Panthers (not that it'll happen). Only 17, EPL experience, GBu18. Plenty of time for development whereas the others would be pretty useless at EIHL level.
Sad to see them go but with Neil Morris at the helm it was always a sinking ship.

Will we see Tony Hand in the Elite League next year? Don't really know his views on the political landscape of British Hockey. Obviously during his time in Manchester he coached at both levels . Would he be anti Elite these days, or was he just in Manchester for as long as he was for the love of the club? I would guess some clubs have tried to get him at some point. Clearly a legend of a player, but would a top elite club want him as coach?
