As much as we’re staring training camp Monday, it’s still a week earlier than most so I don’t want to be too panicked and 3 weeks until the first game of the regular season. It could all be work permit related and they want to get all paperwork sorted before announcing. But hey, who bloody knows with panthers! A little clarity would be nice.

Hard going tonight in Mannheim by the looks, 7-2 defeat. I presume Mark Richardson didn't make the trip? Gifted them a goal tonight.

Only prediction I have is that I don’t expect the Blaze to be as bad a team as others. Motte is a cracking goalie and they were hot the last full season with the imports they have managed to retain. A dark horse.

I think we need to manage some expectations here. Doucet and Wallace have always built teams their own way. They go for round pegs in round holes. As evidenced during the back end of the last regular season and the elite series, they can build teams that on paper don’t look as goal heavy. But once they buy into Wallace’s systems, they find ways to win.
I’m not saying it’s going to work everytime and I certainly think Belfast, Cardiff and Steelers have the better resumes but we’ve seen Panthers teams with those before. It comes down to coaching and willingness to win. Myers made it very clear he’s here to win and with the experience of him and Matheson, another born winner, they can help keep the team honest in a quest for trophies.
I don’t feel cheated by our roster because we know as a club, we’ve never been afraid to make changes if it isn’t working.

He’s instead of an import folks….sorry to break it. I love Myers though. Cracking Player Then that’s unbelievably poor from Panthers, there is no way a team with Panthers resources should be going with 13 imports if they could have 14. That club never ever cease to amaze me with the depths they will go to in penny pinching and it completely backs up the argument that they don’t do all they can to win. Shock.

Looking at the forwards as a group, Wallace and Doucet must have something like this in mind: Suoranta Welsh Import Boivin Lane Domingue Carozza Tousignant Betteridge Myers Kelsall Myers is a great depth player as he’s shown over the last few season with Cardiff, but I don’t think signing him over an import is the way to go. Him signing is great but in my opinion we should have gone with: Suoranta Import Import Boivin Welsh Domingue Carozza Lane Betteridge Tousignant Myers Kelsall as spare Two 25 goal scoring forwards in that 2nd lineup is going to push for the league title, we’d have great depth, Kelsall as a spare for the inevitable injuries and covid cases. Maybe I’m overtly positive but I’m more than okay with this lineup so far 🤷♂️

We’ll be there or there abouts regardless. I look at it this way…we’ll have a full roster for start of season..Doucet can then see if any players get released from training camp he can bring in…Kelsall goes in a two way and we’ve improved.

Although I agree that those 3 would be a big loss to them, they do suggest Dixon has a knack for finding quality Elite League level players without relying on the CV. None of those 3 had much to write home about, before the got here. No sign of Watters either, that's another one (although his ECHL CV was decent). Amazing really how they kept their imports together for so long. Might be a transitional season for them, but I won't be surprised if he's found some more quality. I’m with Yotes here. Guildford started the whole college recruitment thing along with Belfast and changed the way every EIHL club recruits. Guildford also don’t tend to get their roster “wrong” and players are given time to gel. Coventry and them can push the big 4 this season. I think the Clan will be the interesting situation with starting in November and really having to play catch up. I do think they will need to start really quickly to be anywhere near the big 4

Panthers are keeping their cards close to their chest. No need to reveal your hands just yet. Cardiff had to with the CHL looming.

Currently AHL experience Steelers 1,182 games Panthers 1,277 games (2 import forwards remaining) Giants 342 games Devil's 1,500 games (complete roster) 👀 Doesn’t fit the narrative of “Panthers are short changing the fans” Let’s not forget as well Boivin and Domingue were fantastic during the Elite Series and any team in the league would have signed them.

No there’s a place in the EIHL for Brits providing they don’t use their passport to hike their wages If you ran a company and you had two people of equal quality and one was a Canadian who wanted £25k a year and the other a Brit who wanted £35k a year which one would you employ. There are plenty of other hockey leagues in the world where Brits can go and play. You’re only back to the ISL days if owners are stupid enough to pay unaffordable wages and I think that lesson was well and truly learned long ago. I think this new limit has something to do with vastly hiked Brit pay over the last few years. Several of them have been shown to price themselves out of the market And this is really my point. If they price themselves out, then why shouldn’t the owners stand firm and push back?

For me, I think people seem to see the Elite League as some sort of development for British players. But ultimately, there’s little to no reason for the league to do this.
Start from the beginning: A British player develops in an Elite League team. Europe or North America comes calling…do the club get any compensation? But due to the league structure, they need to find a new player to play who’d it’s a criteria of a passport? And becuase they They can’t get the same quality so they start again. The fans then bemoan the drop in quality.
Hell, even change North America to another elite league side.
Now the owners meet and they need to put a product out that draws fans in. We have no way of knowing the actual numbers who bought the Elite Series but an educated guess is that they weren’t fantastic if they’re upping imports. Clubs have lost a lot of money these last 18 months…what are they to do?
The loyalty of British players has to go both ways for the Elite League to want to push their developments. An import leaves and there’s hundreds of quality to go at for coaches and owners…Brits not so much!

Looks a good pick up. You'd like to think that production in Italy will translate to goals here. Not really sure what we have left to sign. Another 1 or 2, or maybe even 3 if we go for a spare. Think we need a power forward. We appear to lack somebody who can stand up for his team mates. Tousignant for that role ? He’s game but not exactly skilled in that department!

Some good points in the Alps and Juniors. Fingers crossed he can score here. Out scored Perlini last season for the same team.
Didn’t have decent numbers in the EBEL but hung around and the release seems to suggest a use as a grinder. Interesting to see how he does

Yes but your mortality rate after being vaccinated drastically drops. And trust me, having had Covid after one jab and feeling as rotten as I did, never been more glad if taking a jab. Well as your mortality rate is lesser then I am not treat to your life or health right??? This is the part you’re not getting. The vaccine doesn’t reduce it to zero. So we can still get the virus and die. Much like the flu jab. Whilst it won’t effect me say, you put the NHS under more pressure to help you recover from the illness. That means they can’t treat cancer or other diseases because they’re focusing on people with Covid. It means there’s more chance of variants because it spreads quicker where vaccinations aren’t taken. But don’t you worry fella. You sit there and tell us the jabs going to kill us based on no evidence To be quite Frank, I have the power to get rid of you off this forum for some of this nonsense. And I might just do it. This isn’t reasoned debate. This is just a selfish attitude and entitlement of someone who thinks they know better than Professors and doctors. Go out your tin foil hat on and be away with you.

Some news on this: The Play-Off Quarter Final will be on the weekend of Sunday April 17th and this game will be among the make-up games for season ticket holders from the curtailed season 2019-20. Two other games have also already been scheduled as carried-over matches.
These will mirror games that had to be cancelled because of Covid. They will be Sunday October 17th against Cardiff and Wednesday February 16th against Manchester. The other roll-over games will be issued as soon as it is practical to do so.Perhaps not been handled greatly but thus far you cant complain at those games being given. I would agree. I’ve got the games I’m owed…no complaints!

All the teams have now announced their home openers. Sorry did I say all teams? I meant 9. Someone at Panthers tower must have lost the twitter password as they are the only team yet to announce. I imagine because we probably won’t have a home opener on weekend one…and they’re preparing for the backlash. With Clan not starting until November, someone is missing out on game day 1

In 2012/13 season the Brit pack was... Clarke Myers Weaver Lee Levers Lachowicz Betteridge Norton Ward Green Gospel Hovel And look at it now....bloody shocking !! An every single one of them was given a chance as a young player to start with us and develop…so we’re doing it again…that’s how things happen in sport.
