I was listening to Gary Moran talking to Guy Doucet about Brady Norrish today.
During said interview Doucet said Panthers only have a couple of imports left to sign.
At present we have announced 11 imports & 2 more signings obviously makes 13 (1 less than the last fullish season)
Given that it's possible it could be a 13 limit this coming season.
As such it's also looking likely that it's the end of 4 line hockey (in terms of forwards) at least for Panthers this season unless we sign more Brit forwards...(We currently have a total of 8 forwards announced)

13 was always the plan for 2020/21 (had it happened), so not that surprising that's the limit on that side. The British quota is interesting though, shame Gary didn't say how many Brits we had left to sign.

Fingers crossed the rumours are wrong and it's still inline with the league statement ahead of the 2020/21 season. That briefing also mentions bench sizes reducing. That could explain what Fox meant when he said reduced squad sizes. Bench size going down from 22 to 20 kn match nights. No issues with the rules announced in the briefing I shared. Also no issues if it's lessened again for this season on the back of covid. As long as it goes back to those in the briefing afterwards. I've obviously said on many occasions I wont understand any limit that prevents 4 line hockey though. That part is only rumours of course. I dont see that being anything to do with cost, that would indeed be giving in to the smaller teams. All youd need to do is allow an extra young brit. |

There are also now limits on any mid-season signings/replacements too? I don't have a problem with this restriction per say, however, what happens if a Euro team comes in for a player/s who have started well in EIHL? Teams could be penalised by recruiting well. |
