Yes it's good (and about time we had a clarke replacement) to have an import quality goal scoring Brit. To me though for our Brits to be miles better than last year we would still have a Betteridge (I don't count Kelsal as being at the right level yet) type of Brit player + Ferrara as well. But we’ve got Hopkins who will be a force to be reckoned with in a few years. Kelsall will fill in for Ollie absolutely fine.

The Brit pack is a lot stronger with the additions of Moore and Ferrara. Poaching 2 of the better Brits in one off season is a coup for any club. For once it’s nice that it’s us doing it.

Looks like another very good pick up. Certainly look more offensive than last season already. And young. Good stuff.

Sorenson is exactly the sort of player we should be going for. Consistent points output at a similar level, experienced but not overly old. He looks like a heck of a pick up for us. Him and Ferrara are 2 legit 20+ goal scorers added to this roster.

Considering we only have five fit d-men I would say that was a more pressing priority to be honest. Yes indeed. Because some clown thought it was a good idea to go with only 13 imports. Since when was going with only 4 import D ever a good idea,it’s just asking for trouble from the start ! Aaron Fox and Todd Kelman did too…or does that not fit the narrative we want to tell?!

With Clarke Pizzo, Hopkins and Kelsall, we have enough to roll 3 lines
Boivin-Welsh-betteridge Souranta-Baillaregeon-Lane Kelsall-Myers-Tousignant
Then Hopkins and Morgan to back fill. D man much more important and Kelsall deserves a top 9 shift!

We are very much a Jeckle and Hyde Team!! Were not though..actually as consistent as any other team in the league. The parity is very real. Sheffield’s start will look better but they’ve played all their cup games against Manchester. List 2 home league games like us. I honestly think this could be the closest run league in a long time

Marek Pinc had a better d. Fox’s version of the Steelers is VERY Corey Neilson-esque.

In the league (the cup doesn't really count does it?), Steelers are 1.000 on the road, but only 0.500 at home so far. They've conceded 16 goals on only 94 shots so far at home, 5 on 119 away. Weird. Brust has played in their last three home league games. With a 75%, 89% and 82% save percentage. So he's responsible for 3 of 4 home games. Rok has played all they're away league games with 97%, 92% and 97% save percentages. Kind of makes it a bit more understandable doesn't it. I went up to watch the game last night…he is not a league winning goalie.

Agreed, I think they got the bans for Clements and Broll the wrong way round there. Getting fined for celebrating seems a little harsh. Imagine the fine for Mcgratton’s playoff goal celebration!

I think people are too obsessive over crowds. Maybe the 5th game we’ve had to pay extra for…in a group most people won’t care about. I bet when it comes to a league game where all season ticket holders will have theirs included and then the fair weathers attend, it’ll be closer to capacity.
Regardless, back on topic, a much different start to Wallace’s first two “seasons” where we were slow to win games. Nice to see us grinding them out. We kept our discipline much better than Steelers did when it became clear Hogarth was going to call everything.
And nothing has been said about Wallace throwing 3 towards out for the GWG. A bold move and it worked!

It was important to maintain the momentum of wins. But also to get one over on a rival as well. Playing with 5 D is always tough and we seemed to manage that relatively well. PP was really poor but the PK did its job. Myers was fantastic on the boards and face off circle all night.
CC groups are a joke considering we’ve already qualified now. A reformat is certainly needed

Imagine a life that you can’t enjoy a teams win and start bitching and moaning about attendances fora team you say you don’t care about….or even attend…yet you spend most of your free time talking about.
We won a hockey game. A hockey game we historically would lose. Resilient. Worked hard. Why don’t we focus on that?

Good win. Good to battle back and win. Going to 3-3, always a risk we lose the game but to give get the game winner a minute later and see it out is impressive.

Called for Kerlin to get ice time and he didn’t let us down. Calm, assured and did everything well.
Potential is there for him to be a legit number 2 and take games off Carr during the season.
Nice to see different guys scoring and chemistry blossoming. There’s potential in this team to be very good

It appears the league is setting a flat 15 quid across the board for games. So I suppose that’s fair but only if the quality of broadcasts offered is the same.
Cardiff’s and Sheffield’s are light years ahead of say a Fife.
On to the game, I love these Blaze games. Proper rivalry and I think we’ll see a good game

I’d play Kerlin in this one. CC only eliminates one team and I think we’ll have enough in other games to see it through. He needs the ice time and we can give Carr a one game weekend to keep him healthy all year.

The real games behind now. One game weekend playing at home. Should be a Home win.
4-1 Panthers!

Steelers are 2 imports down, including their netminder. Not great prep. And our new guy is in for the weekend
Remember all those who went on about “I bet Steelers have all their players and we don’t”
Give credit where it’s due. Under difficult circumstances, to get everything player to have 2 pre season games and 95% 4 games is fantastic!

They've got Baillargeon on there, is he here? There's always a concern that people don't check the sheets properly before a game. So anyone know the answer, did he play (dress) for the game? If his name is on the GRS he's accounted for but a farce if not. He did not play

First period was even. Second started to get away from us and the third was a blowout.
That being said, I fully expected it BUT very much enjoyed the game. Some good early signs but based on the above points about preseason etc, this is a good start.
It was good to be at a hockey rink again though.

Listened to GD talk about him and said that he’s a player they’ve wanted since they took over but with an injury and pandemic, it couldn’t happen.
Then when on Twitter last night, saw a lot of MK fans say really good stuff about him. I don’t profess to remember him but I’m also not going to write off the entire season on a team I’ve not seen play yet 😂

If he’s kept himself in shape, picking up a PPG player and a 25+ goal scorer is a great move
If he’s rusty as hell, it could be a disaster.
I think we have to trust Wallace on this one. Let’s not forget, he’s don’t a pretty good job since taking over and needs the benefit of the doubt.

We’re still doing a longer training camp than all bar Cardiff. I don’t think Belfast are even doing one. So perspective on this.

Can I just say…man it’s good to see these threads with an actual game to go to!
Devils fresh off 4 games in the CHL will be the fitter of the teams but they already looked banged up from that. Cup goes to Cardiff on fitness alone but honestly don’t even care.
