Family Atmosphere = No Atmosphere You go to any football ground the family section produces no voice at all Totally agree however sadly the sport in the UK is too family based now and in my view this can only effect the atmosphere. Generally in football for example its the 20 somethings males who generate all the noise...that age group on the whole bypass hockey altogether with the odd few exceptions. Most fans i see at the arena are either under 20 or over 35.

We got there in the end but made hard work of it,we were prety bad in parts but not so bad in others, without Kudra i think we would of won that in regulation.
We made that more difficult than it needed to be but 2 points...at last

I cant believe some people get offended by a comment such as this by Simms,it's just a bit of banter nothing more nothing less.

. We have the worst entrance to the ice in the league a bit more effort here would attract and keep the younger fans. No that honour goes to Hull...ours is pretty good these days compared to what it was in the early days of the arena

To be honest i didnt think Darnell did that bad tonight apart from that Lacho call at the end.
Same old same old, the christmas Steelers double header probably costs us the title.
First time i've also seen someone try to chuck their shirt onto the ice at the end as well...landed in the penalty box though...sums it all up really.

It was a rumour on the Caps forum the players were told they can find other clubs but a statement on the website basically says 'We need more fans to turn up or we're in trouble'.

I think tonight has shown how recently we've been relying on K Wall a far too much in the past few weeks...as well as Green did i think Kowalski would of stopped a couple of the shots that went in over his shoulder...once it was to pen shots there was only going to be one winner sadly .

Just the same as the last time Caps were down here, they started well but just ran out of steam and couldnt cope with our constant attacking play...and bang bang bang 7 goals...to be fair we could of had more.
Penners celebration after his goal was subdued and Ryans MOM celebration was a very cba effort which summed up the game..it was a training session...a non event, Panthers knew they would win without getting out of 2nd gear it seemed.

I always find the way NHL games ends after the final hooter a bit of an anti climax to be honest...just seems very boring and sterile as the players just skate off. Yeah but mate, lets not beat around the bush here, you're not into North American hockey.. are you? That's just a rumour

Blazes goal did go it, came straight off the back post, was sat at the bottom of block 10 still though an excellent game to watch, Bellamy is fantastic No way did that go in,i sit directly looking across the goal line and it hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced about a foot in front of the goal line....none of the Blaze players appealed for it after it was waved off which tells it's own story i think. Good win i thought we had more possesion and chances but Blaze had some very good chances which on another night may of gone in.

Both are OK, but I think defence is the British spelling. Defence is the British version...and due to that always correct

For what it's worth, I think this is brilliant. The most amazing fun atmosphere I have ever encountered at any sporting event Non stop crowd involvement To counter that i went to a Washington Wizards game last season and it was the worst sporting atmosphere i have ever heard...the crowd were totally silent through the game and even when they tried to get fans involved it was quiet...has to be said the arena was less than half full though and the Wizards were.....erm.....rubbish.

Would rather have a HUGE flag be sent around the arena first before the game than any of that. Though the "Jump Around" looks awesome. Whatever happend to that big flag we had about 4 years ago that was usually in block 11? Or put black/white/yellow sheets of paper on every seat say in block 9,10,11 and then when the team skates out everyone stands up holding the cards...would only really look good though if it was a sell out.

27/02/10 won 3-2 I think and 09/03/10 won 5-4 - both league. So - last season! Hopefully we're getting rid of this 'cannot win at the NIC mentality', fingers crossed anyway. Sorry to be pedantic but the 5-4 game was the challenge cup final ...anyway on that point the Devils played with no fear last night...they finally seem to have worked out how to play on our ice and for one of the first times in a good number of years Cardiff seemed to believe they could win at the NIC.

For a neutral tonights game was a cracker, end to end some massive hits and plenty of niggles...however it seemed to take forever for us to get going tonight...when we did everything we hit seemed to hit the post! If the goals had been slightly wider we would of had 4 or 5 goals but it just was just one of those nights.
We got a point out of it which was a bonus as we seemed very sloppy in defence and gave the puck away far far too many times. Zion looked knackered and just not match fit still...i didnt realise missing 2 players would have such a big impact as the players seemed to straining towards the end of the game and just had nothing left to give!
As much as Voth may of looked like a chicken he took lepine to the penalty box and stopped us having a potentially match winning PP...good move when you think about it!
Good to see so many Devils fans tonight it's been a while (cup final excepted) they have brought so many up!
Cardiff played one of the best games i've seen them play the NIC...they competed, hit and played nice hockey...the past years at the NIC they just used to roll over and die but not tonight!
One final thought, did anyone else think that lad playing the last post was really moving? The place was totally silent while he played it.

I'd rather have extra students at the games rather than extra families to be honest...would probably make the atmosphere better as they would be noisier...im sure the NIC would love all the beer they might drink as welll....or actually knowing students they'd sneak they're own in...

I dont think the venue helps to be honest,i mean i know a lot of hockey fans love Murrayfield for it's 'character' but it wont attract new fans, an old, cold and slightly run down rink will not appeal to the casual fan.

Hi everyone, Auntie B, you obviously have good taste in names! Unfortunately I don't know a lot about drugs so you are probably better off talking to that dog in the adverts or Frank from Shameless on that account. Spik, my avatar and your comment go really well together! Hi Spike, what jersey is that in your picture? It's a Fosse City Outlaws Gym hockey shirt....now called South Notts Outlaws

K Wall puts in 2 awesome performances then backs it up with a shut out (with our D thats an achievement)! Oh im not knocking him at all just saying im not surprised he didnt get MOM due to him not facing many shots.

To be fair K Wall had sod all to do most of the game Hull were terrible going forward...missed about 3 open goals.
Easy win in the end we were on total control from start to finish...Billy Ryan was on fire again. Just a shame Lepine gets a match pen...again...Silverthorn was stooped so low any kind of contact would get him in the head.
3,314 there tonight...about average for a weekday v Hull i suppose
