I'm a Steelers fan, and i'm not impressed he's back behind the Mic in the whitehouse. He just loves to feed his ego end of!

Do not expect Slimnsy to change any time soon - he is one guy who is so far up his own BS to be unbelievable - ask Squeelers fans how many wanted him back - the takeover by Ragan and the subsiquent on-ice dross on Boxing Day could only have been liked by people with the same mentallity as Slimnsy and says a lot for the new/old regime at the HOT - compare his approach to business against GM the GM and tell me honestly which you would prefer - on the plus side Slimnsy has done a lot for UK hockey and lives and breaths it - unfortunatelly that is where it ends as the only way he can deal with competition is to try and deride them - wonder how many more fans will flock to the HOT now he is back - not many me thinks

Not being funny but all the rubbish that is thrown at Simms is unjust. He is an honest, hockey loving guy and you all just bash him as he's a Steeler.
Met him twice and both times he's been good enough to stop doing what he is doing and talk to me. He always has a jibe about Panthers but its banter and we should take it how it is.
Do we want to have completely politically correct commentators announcers etc in our arena?
I'd take Simms over American commentators every day, we all need to forget the bias and thank him for what he's done with British hockey, which is stand by it and getting good coverage for it.

Dave Simms lost any respect I had for him by insulting all the fans who went up to Shuff on boxing day by calling our club the "small club" yet I bet if the NIC had the capacity of the house of tin then we'd still sell it out. The size of your club isn't just measured by trophies and thats something they fail to realise up there. The reason I took offence to that is because we made the Steelers alot of money that night.

Simmsy has started it again... .....and again he gets a thread on the Cage, which again will probably run to two or three pages, massaging his ego..........again. Will we ever learn?

Simmsy has started it again... .....and again he gets a thread on the Cage, which again will probably run to two or three pages, massaging his ego..........again. Will we ever learn? I think its about time that Simmsy really knew what Panthers (and other clubs for that matter) fans really think about him The man has a big opinion of himself and is may be a little arrogant the way he goes about things. Ok he has done a lot for Ice Hockey; but he has also 'rubbed people up the wrong way' once too often. This thread will go on for 2-3 pages and no I will not learn by it; neither do I like Simmsy; hence the reason for the posting.

What did they expect from Panthers fans on boxing day, when after telling people to get there early because of traffic around Meadowhall, praise, cheers and clapping ?
You had probably 900 Panthers fans in their seats early awaiting a 5pm face off and come 5pm Simmsy strolls out on the ice and spouts his big comeback crap for 5 minutes. As if that wasn't bad enough,he then brings Ragan out for yet another 10 minutes of waffling and when the Panthers fans start showing their impatience he abuses them with his cheap shot jibes about small clubs etc. That game eventually started at 5-20pm,bloody ridiculous !
Simmsy is a complete idiot if he thinks opposing fans are gonna put up with that sort of treatment after those same fans have probably put 15k into Steelers coffers.
Ragan taking over is a good move for Steelers, but bringing Simmsy back was a BIG mistake !!

The club should be fined for a late face off - or is that expecting too much from the EIHL when the Squeelers & Simmsy are concerned

I'll ask again, Just what is this great thing Simmsey has done for British Hockey?
Yeah he's a nice enough bloke, does ok on the commentry. But if I wanted that level of 'banter' I would just open some more crackers.
Him and Regan should get on with sorting Steelers out before they even start thinking about our little club.

Yes, that is expecting Way too much from the Elite league, games faceing off on time should be well down on the list of things that they need to sort.

Phil70 - If you were there then you would know what the delay was and the reasons for comments on this thread - as for delaying the start I agree some sort of complaint should have been made but that would have given them some credibility - at the end of the day did anyone expect anything else from "them up the road"

Simms comes over as a decent guy on sky but is a silly person to say the least.I know lots of people who refuse to go to the Tin Bucket Arena because of the crap that comes out of his mouth....he more than anyone creates an hatred for the squeelers from most visiting fans and at the end of the day its their loss when people refuse to go there. Also just out of interest many smokers refuse to go as they will not allow people outside at the intervals.....unlike all the other arenas....more money they lose out on..still who cares

some people are obsessed with simms the small team from down the road comment was actually made by paul ragen. the face off was delayed due to a serious rta between jct 33 and 34 and also bad traffic around meadowhall.
probably wrong place to ask but i have the proboards app on iphone but how to i post on a topic?

This is just a Panthers view of what was put on the Sheffield Star website on Monday/Tuesday, so it's pretty old news. It was Mr Moran's arm waving that help set off the Panthers fans before Simms or Ragan could get started. I was directly above the Panthers fans in a VIP suite and couldn't hear a word of it due to the Noise that they started as Simmsey walked onto the ice, with the encouragement of Mr Moran. It also seems to have a slightly different slant on the arguement between Moran & Ragan after the game, I'm sure I read that Moran laid into Ragan and Simms had to step in to calm it down, and I'm surprised it's taken this long for an alternative view to appear. www.thestar.co.uk/icehockey/Ragan-row.6672244.jp

We sat for 15 minutes waiting for face-off. How would steeler fans have been welcoming gm and a new owner on to the ice to be self Indulgent for 15 minutes about a subject most have little interest in when supposed to be watching heir team play against there rival!

Did you really expect Simms to be able to stroll out onto the ice in front of us and we'd just sit on our hands and listen politely? The game was already late (no great surprise, it's always delayed in Shuff), whatever people say about traffic when he did that the arena was as full as it ever got, then we have to listen to him and Ragan waffle on for 15 minutes. And for the record, I never saw Moran from where I was sitting, most of the chanting seemed to come from behind me too (202), so I'd question whether they were being orchestrated by him. As for the small club stuff, should be water off a duck's back, sure for most of us it is.
