Some good hits tonight especially in the first,we looked good in the first then faded a bit,it got a bit patchy from both sides and we snatched it on penalties...which were all fantastic pen shots by the way.
Shame the Clan fans didnt make the first period as they made some good noise...unlike the rest of the arena sadly

At the end of the second, DAB shoots after the buzzer and has a coming together with Hewitt - he give Hewitt a glove lunch and there was an alledged spearing/butt ending off DAB to Hewitt - I didnt see it but it was the oposite end of the ice to us but there was no call All correct, and to be honest didn't look like much from where we were sat, but it was called, before the start of play in the 3rd and DAB got 2+10, and they scored on their PP. Then DAB scored about 45 seconds after getting back from his 10 minute misconduct. DaB did catch hewitt in the face but it looked more like an elbow/glove to the face rather than his actual stick

I thougth we played pretty well tonight to be honest, looked fluid going forward and defended well for the large part...DaB was exellent tonight his goal was top draw...the butt ending from my POV looked like an elbow in Hewitt's face rather than the stick but he still caught him good and proper....
Woolhouse was excellent in goal for Steelers (apart from letting Bellamys goal in which went straight through his glove)...never saw him play as well as tonight when he was with us!
Rather unsurpringly not that many Panthers fans and the atmosphere was pretty dead all night.

The atmosphere sounds so good at the O, maybe the NIC can take notes?..horns, drums..the works (sorry you all probably know this but ive never been myself so was unaware) it didnt sound that good when we were over in Jan...the drums were being beaten most of the game but not much chanting really

Paul Moran = legend if only for his superman impression against Basingstoke. That and battering Mark Morrison after he had hit Calle headfirst into the boards

Tbh, he played well, he got MoM. Why boo? How is that going to help anything? I think it was more of a 'come off it Corey didnt deserve MOM' coupled with the fact half the fans want him out now'

Yeah i called the box office earlier and they said the same thing, bit annoying if you cant get the Sheffield before the game however as they said they wont exchange them on the game day itself.

Health and safety and insurance issues will prevent big flags on poles and hundreds of fans stood up in seats during the game sadly...plus the general UK hockey fan is more NA orientated anyway so cant muster up more than 2 chants for some reason.

Decent enough win in the end, was a pretty even game possesion and chances wise i felt but we just had the edge when it came to finishing..Levers had a great game his goal was a beat!
We closed the game out in the last 5 mins or so which is rareity (Strachan's input there i think).
Big crowd as well but was an atmosphere from the home fans which sums up the last few weeks of poor performances..it was hard to get motivated after the Belfast debacle last saturday...credit the Hull fans they brought more than they usually do and made plenty of noise!

I think though that if you had the Vipers game as a one off challenge cup game off the season ticket not many would turn up as the Vipers with half a team arent much of an exciting prospect semi final or no semi final.

As fot 2 many men thanks ref all yours that one didnt look like too many to me especially for the first, They were both blatant too many men penalties...we had too many men for at least 20 secs on both of them before the linos noticed!

I didnt think he was that bad to be honest,he let more rough stuff go than i thought he would....he seemed to call the hooks and slashing penalties about right though..almost ZT with most of those calls.

It was a flippant response I admit, sorry for that. 50% of their entertainment has gone for me. I will still enjoy coming and watching hockey but that excitement of knowing anything can happen keeps it going for me and keeps me buzzing. The fact Alex has gone has really lowered the excitement levels. And if he's left of his own accord I apologise for moaning earlier about him being released. All the above doesn't change the matter its a real downturn for UK hockey. The road for euro-deke, non contact hockey has been cleared. Let's watch out sport dwindle and remember how it should be played by watching hockey from across the pond. To be fair though the NHL is going the Euro hockey route as well...just a sign of the times i guess

If he has gone, thanks Alex for everything! You've been wronged by being released, this is the final straw for me. I won't be attending every Panthers game now, I'm going to rethink and come to the important games. Just lost 99% of your entertainment Panthers, be aware. Hope to see you back soon Alex. From what i've heard he wanted to leave rather than has been relased...but im sure all will become clear in the next few days...

I am gutted after that...4-2 and 5-4 up and we still manage to throw it away! We had 2 powerplays in the last 6-7 mins and they were utterly dreadful...conceded a short handed goal and then 2 too many men calls in succession...oh dear oh dear.
We were on fire in the 2nd period going 4-2 up,everything we hit went in but then after going 5-4 up seemed to lose our way totally, the players looked knackered and i think the net being moved off its moorings when we were about to smack the puck in just deflated all of them to be honest!
Lots of Devils fans up again...more than Blaze have been bringing this season!

I thought we went 3-1 up without creating many chances so i was really shocked we opened up a 2 goal cusion but then Giants seemed to up their game and boom 3-3. Much better performance than recent weeks but still i thought we didnt create enough chances to win the game which is puzzling with our attacking options....
I thought Myers was outstanding tonight

You're correct Spoons. When the NIC is full and the crowd really get behind them it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. The best support i can remember wasn't at the NIC though,it was the 1st leg of last seasons challenge cup away in Cardiff which we won 2-4. Around 500 Panthers fans never stopped singing from start to finish and it was that win that won us the cup because we lost the home leg by the odd goal 4-5 i think it was. That day both fans and team were simply awesome. Yes,Corey is arrogant and could have phrased it a bit better but we all know what he's asking for, so stop moaning, groaning, whinging, knitting, texting, talking, reading and eating.........and get shouting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said all round! That CC game was great to experience. Perhaps we just need to rally round a "Stevie is a quimbo" chant?! That chant single handedly won the cup ;D
