On paper this has been a good weekend for us and I really don't want to criticise but we have got to stop coughing up leads in games.
One point in Sheffield is a good result for us, but we should've had two. In Manchester, we almost threw away a game where we were three goals up. It's got to stop.
I was expecting a little rust with the guys having only had two days of training last week and again, three points is a great result and seeing the fact we've taken 9 out of the last 10 points is superb too.
But yeah, I hate criticising the team after a successful weekend, on the back of a three in three, but we need to fix how we manage games when we're leading. Whether it's a case of going all out to increase leads, or parking the bus, we need to figure it out before we start dropping too many more points after a very substandard start to the season.

Was speaking to Quist after the final game as he was leaving for Stockholm almost as soon as the game ended (with team permission) and he was saying they all suspected Amiens and Ferencvarosi were conspiring to knock Panthers out or give us a slimmer chance, so they were even more pumped up to stick it to them. Sounded like Wallace gave the team a deserved earful after the Saturday game too. Ignore my ignorance but why are they so anti- panthers if thats true? I think we were touted to be favourites to win the group so partly because of that, but I suppose also because the French have never really liked us and every country in Europe seems to have a grudge against the UK since all this Brexit stuff happened. The fans of all three teams we played were so welcoming and nice though, just seems to be on the ice where other teams are a bit spiteful.

I'd expect GB to receive a signed jersey from Canada to go with the no doubt one off GB jerseys they'll auction.
Personally I wish they did a ticket add on of meet the Team Canada players.

To answer your questions TFS and Pidge, the Panthers Puckcast group (I think it's called) who have been prominent in Block 19, decided to do some dares with each other over the last couple weekends.
One involved one of them running down some ally-way naked, and then on Sunday I believe, the other one posted a fully nude selfie on their twitter account as a 'Dare'. Not censored or anything.
I believe it was either removed or deleted as there were more than a few who were disgusted by it.

I hope it continues and is taken forward for future seasons too. The noise it's created has been superb and the arena has been rocking, it's done wonders for the atmosphere and the players seem to love it too.
Another thing I hope for though is that the people at the helm of it spend more time focusing on making the noise and improving the atmosphere, rather than posting pictures of their penises on social media. I was starting to respect them quite a bit with how well Block 19 has gone but doing that just tossed all that respect down the drain. Have a laugh and everything for sure, I have no issue with that but it's so far beyond the line when pictures of penises start flying around like it's something the fan base, and every other fan base want to see. Each to their own I suppose though.

Amiens currently sat top of the Ligue Magnus having won 11 out of 15. They have the joint 6th worst goals against however in their league of 11.
They play on Tuesday evening against Angers who sit 3rd, so that should be a tough game.
Amiens have a couple of injuries with Joey West and Spencer Edwards (British Passport holder) side-lined.
Their top three scorers are;
Philippe Halley - 24pts in 15 Tommy Giroux - 23pts in 15 Jérémie Romand - 20pts in 15
Goaltending looks like this;
Henri-Corentin Buysse - 2.59 - .917 Lucas Savoye - 3.76 - .778

That's a very arrogant and contemptuous statement... not to mention insulting to the fans who travel to tournaments like this. So you don't like the Continental Cup... fine, that's your privilege. How about showing a bit of class and not letting your bile spill over onto others? It is rather like the “Johnston’s paints cup” in football though these days cos there ain’t much in it. Granted it isn't as big as it used to be but it's still a heck of an achievement to win it. Automatic qualification into the CHL. Recognition across Europe. Only two teams win European Championships per season, we can be one of them. Offer me a season without European hockey or a season with the continental cup, I know which I would choose and I image the majority would also agree.

Ken is one of the best, if not the best in the league. Personally I find the playoffs guy to be insufferable. Using a hooter on the mic and playing dreadfully cringe-worthy songs. Hearing stuff like Baby Shark played makes me want to shoot myself in the head.
The day we start playing child friendly stuff like the playoffs DJ and Sheffield do will be a sad day.
The songs Ken plays have been played every season for as long as I can remember and for the most part I don't have much issue, I know during the warm ups the players will have chosen some of the songs but usually during the game it's the classics.
The good thing with Ken is that he will listen to fans' suggestions and feedback so if you're on social media, create a little list of songs or suggestions/feedback and he'll normally try to sort something. It's a difficult job, he has to play music for everyone, stuff kids will get involved in, stuff older people will recognise and perhaps clap along to and stuff which could get everyone clapping and cheering. It usually helps when we play well as fans will get more involved.
But yeah, I feel we should have some changes to songs too but I'm not too concerned.

Panthers aren't priority at the arena so no point in voicing frustrations towards them or GM, it's out of their hands (assuming the concert was booked post-fixtures meeting).
We will always be second fiddle at the arena and we all know that.

Can we not get Gagnon out at the game and give him a standing ovation? Deserves it for giving Davies what he deserves. Not even November yet and Davies has already been filled in.

Still need that Loiseau replacement don't we? Yeah And Bulmers,Malmquists and Quists. For as long as the Malmquist, Hansen and Golovkovs line is the only one producing, Malmquist is staying. He's doing okay, not brilliantly but he really isn't just drifting aimlessly around like others. He deserves longer. He wasn't signed to be a Top 6 forward either.

Just been looking at some stats to see how poor Bulmer has been.. I knew he'd been bad but Christ.
Only import forward in the entire league, without a point. 177th in league points (0), only one import skater lower than him which is Lepine at 179th. Worst +/- in the league at -9.
We have the 9th best PK at 76.19%. 8th best PP at 14.29%. 9th in goals conceded. 8th in goals scored.
Dreadful stuff.

Hey, this is in no way getting at those who have gone to the game tonight. They are hockey fans and Nottingham supporters. Would there have been any booing or was there much clapping in a game played here? Quiet or surprisingly not a bad cheer/applause/shouting for such low attendance. Just trying to ascertain what sort of person had gone. The happy clappers, town drinkers pre nightclub or hardened fans. There were several chants throughout the game and clapping during the breaks in play but that's about it. We had some moments where we played very well and there was a fair bit of clapping then but as soon as Storm got the 3-3 goal it went silent and then they score in OT and people began flooding out. I'd say there were no more than 500 in there to clap the players off after MoM and even then I'd say less than half put any effort into clapping. Didn't hear any booing. It was a definite mix of newbies with little understanding of the game, small amount of drinkers and the rest I'd say were hardened Panthers fans with the expectation of a loss.

I thought the Golovkovs-Malmquist-Hansen line was by far the best tonight. Lepine was pretty good too.
The speed of the GMH line was challenging for Storm, they also seem to have created some good chemistry already. That line alone had perhaps 3 or 4 good goal scoring chances but flopped on a couple unfortunately. I dread to think how we'd have played without Hansen. Golovkovs and Malmquist seem to be doing a lot of hard work, getting the puck in deep and then finding Hansen who is also a hard worker, and he just creates the spaces and opportunities he needs. As for Lepine, he made several hard hits which caused turnovers or broke up Storms offense, great to see and his teammates loved it too, as well as the fans.
Not much can be said for anyone else though. Don't think Carr was too bad, had moments of excellence, but also sub-standard moments.
I don't buy the attendance figures either, but regardless, at least a quarter, probably pushing a third of the actual attendance were undoubtedly freebies. Blocks 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 19 all had large amounts of obvious freebies in. Can't remember the last time I walked onto the concourse at the end of the period and it be like a literal ghost town, not a soul walking or waiting for food/drink.

Well that shows how little attention I'm paying doesn't it. Dennis took a little bongo drum in tonight, was hitting it all game and chanting as he does. Most of the game was that silent all I could hear was Dennis and his drum. He was in block 18, I'm in 11.

One of the better players I've seen come up as being released/free agent. Undersized but did well in the ECHL, looks like a potential goalscorer. Dante Salituro. www.eliteprospects.com/player/169595/dante-salituroHe was signed with Indy Fuel before taking a try-out with SaiPa in the Finnish Liiga. Also attended the Rockford AHL camp and left to head to Finland. There isn't a great deal of players on the market currently, and some that people have suggested on Twitter look complete gash. Regardless, we need a signing soon.

Hope Panthers have realised that casual fans probably don’t buy shirts and merchandise. 😁 Ice Locker took around 180 jersey orders when Panthers offered their 'Order a jersey before ___ and it will be signed by your favourite player'. They will have taken around £12,000 for that. Though I very much doubt there will be that many jersey sales between now and Christmas with how things are going.

Wallace said in his interview with Chris Ellis/BBC Nottingham Sport that he would consider it if there was an injury crisis, but reiterated it would have to be a literal crisis for it to happen. So I don't think he will, doubt we will see him ice at all besides Lacho's testimonial. Perhaps the additional ice time created by Jakobs' departure and Deutsch's injury will see certain players given an even greater opportunity to try and prove their worth. Fingers are crossed for some signing news over the weekend, if not early next week. I don't want someone who was released from an ECHL try-out either. I hope you’re right and the players do take a advantage of the extra ice time. As you say, this is far from a crisis, we’ll have 6 D and 11 forwards, which will be the same as both Guildford and Fife. This is the perfect opportunity for Bulmer to show what he can do, if he goes into shell again then I’ll be seriously concerned. Completely agree. Re-watching the game where Bulmer broke Lee's jaw, he does it so effortlessly, like snapping a matchstick. Yet when Lemtyugov for Sheffield offers to go with him, Bulmer edges back away from him as if he is scared. I was expecting him to be a go-to forward, playing hard and dirty, getting a few goals and creating space for his linemates. He holds the puck extremely well for sure and that is one huge asset but he just hasn't really shown any offence or much toughness, it's a shame and I really hope he starts proving himself along with the likes of Quist.

It’s an even more awful weekend going two imports short. No Loiseau,no Jakobs and now no Deutsch this weekend. Time for Wallace to get his skates on? I think we could have a task on our hands retaining Herr for the entire season. They liked him in the AHL just playing a minor, 3rd/4th line checking forward role.. and now he's proving he can play a good offensive game. This team we have has very little offence too. Herr is our offence at the moment. I'm sure he's getting similar or better money/conditions than in the AHL but if he continues on this trend I could see him departing for better things. I'd love for him to stay the full season though, if he carries on like he's started he'd be a strong player to build a roster around.

What imbecile decided a Guildford away trip, followed by a Fife away trip, would be a good move?
3 hours to Guildford. Play the Flames. 8 hours to Fife. Play the Flyers.
That's an awful schedule. If we can get 2pts from the weekend I'll be content. To take all 4 I think a miracle would be required.

There's no such thing as a rebuild in a league like ours. We're just trying something new. Unfortunately so far, it isn't particularly going to plan, but at least this will ensure we see what Doucet and Wallace are made of and whether we can expect them to be the right people to take us forward. I'm not happy with how things currently are, but it's still only the start of October so there is plenty of time for us to turn things around. We just need to start acting quickly now.
