Can't decide whether to go tonight or not. Only thing making me want to go is the fact I have a season ticket. Wonder if hotham will be made to answer for that slash? Doubtful. Corey doesn't believe in physical contact hence why Steve Lee has gone downhill! And there'll be nothing from McGrattan either. Bordeleau (sp) wont fight him because it wasn't down to him, in fact the last time the tangled it was more like heavy petting! As an enforcer BG is rather ineffectual, he hasn't stopped injuries or dirty play so isn't a deterrent. Doesn't play hard, the only checks you see from him are probably his pay ones. And if by reports he is here next year then we'll be in the same boat of no protection and needing the little guys to stick up for the big ones. He is ineffective that much is certain, however, I have never seen an enforcer stop injuries. I seen a few cause some though.

To be fair, that's probably more to do with the multiple concussions he's had, than Corey telling him not to play physical.

Just having a look at the top 10 scorers in the league this season.
I find it interesting that there is no NHL experience amongst them at all. Also only 1 player over 35 (Layne Ulmer)
So this calls to question, why the hell do we keep recruiting 38 yr old ex NHLers rather than young ECHL'ers?
(I have a spreadsheet but cant figure out how to do a table sorry, the data is here if anyone is able to make it work)

Devils need the win and we cant be bothered, saving ourselves for the quarters in about 5 weeks time. Does anyone think the club might consider dropping another place down the league in order to miss Sheffield in the Qtrs? And miss out on yet another Steelers home game? I doubt it

To be honest the 'booze & bunnies' lifestyle is something that cannot in any way be levelled at Steve Lee. I have no idea on that regard tbf. I was making a tongue in cheek statement about Nottingham players in general. I have no knowledge of any players private lives, nor do i wish too.

I personally would like to see a hierarchy something like the following....
General Manager : A person with strong management experience, (preferably not an ex DJ from the North if poss) Deals with contracts wages etc. Also deals with sponsorship and day to day running, getting bums on seats promotions bla bla bla
Director of Hockey operations : A hockey guy (someone like Gerard Adams or Paul Adey) to choose his head coach, and then put together the team , in collaboration with the Head Coach. Given a budget to put in place an off ice team (conditioning coach, physio, doctor, dentist etc) that can give us the best chance to win. (Ideally get in touch with M10 fitness again. I know virgin Active sponsor us but we need someone who has time to really invest into fitness and conditioning)
Head Coach : Coach the team (Forwards and defence!!!) set plays etc
Assistant Coach : Run drills set out by the head coach, bring some new ideas to the table, help run the bench and for the love of god, ensure we don't get anymore Bench Minors.
Scout : Thats right, i would like to see us have a scout who can go and spend a few months in the US, then a few months in europe. Speak to the players about the Panthers and sow some seeds there.
Put all that together and we may finally have the team that the Panthers should be. We have the highest average attendance in the league. This should start being reflected with some professionalism and an eye to the future. Whilst crowds are good at the moment, any businessman should know you cant just rest on your laurels and sit back. At some point those crowds will stagnate. I have already stopped going to games, I cant justify the outlay for my partner, my daughter and i for the same old same old.

According to Simmsy, we wouldn't want to see Lee in an opposing teams colours against us.. I would. Would break through the defence like fire through paper. Knowing our luck he'd go somewhere else and be a world beater. I think the biggest issue we have is players get too comfortable in the beer and bunnies lifestyle in nottingham tbh.

Youre right i dont thats bull crap It's not bull,it's what happens in lots of sports. The other option is,you could have a couple of thousand season ticket holders who can't get a ticket because they've all been snapped up by people who only went to a few league games during the season. That's not right either,it's worse.....so what would you suggest ? It should be first come first served, it matters not whos been to the most games a season IMO. Are you saying that a season ticket holder is a bigger fan than someone who has the misfortune to work Saturdays? Or a fan who goes to every game but just couldnt afford the outlay of all the money up front? No casual fan is going to want to spend the amount it is for tickets anyway so you can guarantee the only people there will be the die hard fans, the may just have had to book a weekend off work.

Greg Pick (D) ex Nottingham played at Slough and Peterborough. James Neil (F) ex Nottingham junior/senior, played for Lions and a couple of games for the Panthers. They are probably somewhere near the best of the Brit players in my limited estimation. James Neil played quite a few for Panthers 168 games to be precise scoring a grand total of 3 goals and 1 assist. I dont think he's what we need tbh, although would probably still outscore Lachowicz this season.

You couldn't make it up could you. If Panthers tried really really hard on purpose to make an even bigger mess of their social media........they would fail, because it's impossible ! Derbyshire schools go back on the 3rd so it's not an entirely egregious statement. My daughters school, in Nottingham goes back on the 3rd too

I'm not so sure. The Devils seem to have found decent new owners. Neil Black isn't the only person in the world interested in owning a Hockey club you know? Especially one that actually turns a modest profit. That came from their association with Kelman though didn't it? From my memory it's not like they just went out and bought them, he (Kelman) pitched the idea to them and they're all in it together. Indeed but my point is it's possible.

(Not even you ) Know the actual figure.

I get the people who want GM out (and Corey out to a lesser extent even though I don't agree with it) but it's baffling to me that people would want Neil Black to cease being the owner of the club. I can't imagine there would be many people willing to take over an ice hockey club in this country, there'd probably be even less considering the circles you'd have to get into (or already be in) to be accepted at the EIHL roundtable as well. I'm not so sure. The Devils seem to have found decent new owners. Neil Black isn't the only person in the world interested in owning a Hockey club you know? Fair enough to Braehead for responding. If what they said is true then I retract my statement.

Just noticed on twitter (Thanks Jono) that our jerseys are £10 more expensive than Braehead's who are using the same manufacturer. Panthers really do take the fans for idiots sometimes don't they?

I hope he does, not enough time to look for a replacement top line centre.

He obviously demanded extra, it didn't fit our budget so he turned us down. Sad times. I wouldn't say it was obvious. Its one theory i am sure there are many other likely scenarios. The most likely being he wanted to stay at home.

For me it has to be Devils or Steelers. Both squads but particularly the Devils are stacked with quality. Being just a fan I am I have absolutely no idea what the outlay has been for the owners of the club. Steelers are renowned for doing whatever it takes to be ultra competitive and now the Devils, with new owners are flexing their muscles. There is talk that they want to buy their arena which cost I believe in the region of £17 million and their final signing of Bordeleau would have cost a pretty penny. I feel that the two could leave the rest behind I their wake. Hopefully cheque book hockey will not rear its ugly head in the following seasons. Surely Devils/Steelers would never do such a thing 🤔 So Devils champions with Steelers second and maybe the Clan the best of the rest. All in my humble opinion. I would say it already has. Highly doubt devils will make a profit this year based on spends, regardless of free ice time.

Seriously where the hell is Brad Moran? Amen. Ridiculous now. If he has a valid reason fair enough, but let's hear it in vague terms at least. I assume they're off to France today, so is he missing that too? Been thinking about this. How long until we hear he isn't returning?

John Scott all day, he'd be able to play in this league as well I believe I agree, he does a decent job as a defensive forward from what I've seen. If we are going for very low goal output that could come in handy.
