Its like buying a used car.(no, I'm not quoting Swiss Toni ) Do you go for an older car, more miles on the clock, everything works fine but starting to show its' age, or go for a newer model that looks ok but might have a fault that could turn into something serious. To use your analogy a Rolls Royce is always a Rolls Royce and because of that they cost alot of money, a Lada is always a Lada and there is a reason they are/were cheap.... If you buy Lada's dont expect Rolls Royce....no matter what age of the car.... I agree, but my use of the analogy was in reference to Jokinen and Coughler.Jokinen was never a RR, more likely a Volvo, solid, reliable, unspectacular. But after a 20yr career/miles on the clock even a Volvo doesnt perform like it did when new. Meanwhile, Coughler a player with potential, better than a very cheap car. more like a Ford/VW but currently sat in the garage awaiting long term repair if someone wants to take on the project, has the chance to be a Ford/VW again. Or better. This is probably more confusing than the EIHL fixtures list but I know what I'm trying to say !

I'd say Jokinen's CV is/was massively better than this bloke's, to be fair. Not sure Richards's is, but there you go. Interesting nove. Coughler left his Danish team in October after what was thought to be a potentially season ending concussion injury. From their blurb at the time. "Since then, Jake Coughler has struggled to get back on the training field, but must now admit that the concussion is worse than first assumed and therefore keeps him out indefinitely. Against this background, Jake Coughler has for health reasons wanted his contract terminated as the impact of the concussion keeps him away from the ice for an extended period of time and therefore he is unable to fulfill his contractual obligations. During his career, Jake Coughler has suffered several concussions and we in the Odense Bulldogs naturally have great respect for Jake's decision to resign for ice hockey for a while." Its like buying a used car.(no, I'm not quoting Swiss Toni ) Do you go for an older car, more miles on the clock, everything works fine but starting to show its' age, or go for a newer model that looks ok but might have a fault that could turn into something serious.

This is a poor use of resources IMHO. I don't usually comment on line combinations (years of watching Nielson has made me wary) but I will make an exception here. The top line looks OK. A sniper, a set up man and an agitator. Possibly not the most feared top line in the EIHL, but has all the pieces. The issue is the balance of the other 2 lines. If I was Olly I'd be spitting feathers that as soon as the "heat" is on, despite me being one of the more credible and potent offensive threats this year, here I am, back on the "checking" line, with the old man* and a brand new pro, at the expense of Baillargeon, who looks like a lot like a coaster to me, despite his points tally. (Tyler Biggs without the heft? Would welcome other thoughts.) Give Richards a chance, have the second line as 51/21/74, and third as 9/8/14. Surely that's a better balance? It at least gives you another line that looks like it might create a chance or two. Just a thought. I further notice one of the lines that was scored on in Sheffield was 6/14/18. To have ALL your three most inexperienced players on the ice vs Dowd, Eberle and Armstrong (just the 43 points between them this year so far) is a tactical decision that could easily be called into question. Nothing against the three at all, far from it, but all three together? In Sheffield? On Boxing Day? When Panthers are 1-0 down early? *used in jest, of course. I don’t think we’re getting the most out of Ollie either. After starting off really well I don’t think he’s had anywhere near the same impact, his performances at the start of the season carried the team, now he’s not producing as much the inability of the others is more apparent. According to the game sheet he did have 9 sog but I can’t remember him having any great chances where I thought he should have scored. My thoughts on Baillargeon are similar, he just drifts through games, he doesn’t have any where near the impact that we need. When we signed him I was surprised at how many goals he scored for MK, I couldn’t recall him playing for them. Looking at his current stats in a bit more depth, 2 of his 5 league goals are ENG, so his goal total is slightly inflated. I’ve talked about what I’d like Doucet to do but I’ll not hold my breath. If we continue with the same numbers then I’d like Wallace to try 51/21/74 as well. I may have mentioned, or thought, when we signed #9 that he scored a lot of points at MK but he was the new kid on the block keen to make an impact, he had Golovkovs who was a good setup man for them, and he probably got a bit more space being relatively unknown. This season he's having to do more with less. We see occasional flashes but he does drift in and out. And take silly penalties.

Good job we switched to play Clan. Wonder what Coventry are up to that day? Could we play Dundee, Coventry or Cardiff? They'll probably fix up a game with Sheffield

Curious old boy case…Dylan Olsen. Signed back in Wichita and named Captain, talked about his pride etc, maybe a handful of days later hung up the skates. I know he now has a better half so maybe he didn’t want to be away from her, however the timing was curious indeed! Also, seen Jaynen Rissling is playing this season albeit in the ACAC, oh to have someone like him in the current roster, someone who makes coming into our zone difficult! Perhaps Olsen wasn't happy being a Wichita lineman

I think Jokinen was told that he wouldn't be needed after his trial period was up and steered him towards Fife but I think Suoranta just handed in his notice. Neither had brilliant stats but both going like that leaves us bodies short. Losing two like that before the Christmas games makes us look a bit rudderless Rudderless is a good word to describe the fiasco. I bet the new guy is fuming that he can’t play. 🤣 New guy ? Have Panthers signed someone since Richards?

Jokinen never really settled and certainly didnt have the impact, for example, Sheffield's short or long term replacements have had. Suoranta did what he probably thought he was supposed to do, forecheck, provide energy, chip in now and again with points. Unfortunately the team clearly needs more than that.
