Well from the players he's coached recently it would be great if he could persuade C.J Stretch to come to Panthers

Well no matter what happens panthers shouldn’t be accused of lacking ambition or imagination with this appointment. He looks exactly like what most were hoping for

As much as it would be great to see Gui back i'd much rather have a proven coach like Rich Chernomaz who has been mentioned. Would't say no to a player/asst coach here

Edit: it might have been a wind up

Who would be everybody's choice to replace David Clarke? I’d go for Luke Ferrara. He got more goals and points than Clarkey this year and in less games too. How about Scott Conway. Cousin of Brett Perlini. Been at a NCAA team for two years so may not be available but looks good www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=93316

That's only game night roster, we can still have another import sat in the stands. Can have whoever we like sat in the stands. It’s a possibility but then I just see that as a wasted slot in a senior Brit if he’s just there to warm the bench and effectively answers the question of who replace Clarke as no one

Do those teams run 4 lines though? I'd think you could still do that with Gospel as senior, only need 20: 2 NM: 1 import, 1 Snr Brit (Sam) 6 D: 5 import, 1 Snr Brit (Lee) 12 F: 8 import, 3 Snr Brit (Perlini, Lacho, Farmer), 1 Jnr Brit (Ollie) 14+5+1, think that's still within the rules(?). Then use 2 U23 spots for spares. The problem you'd have is if you had the import slots to play Galbraith & Garnett, you'd either have to have a spare senior Brit to come in, or play senior Brits short. All of that fine if gospel is good enough to fill the role of 2nd net minder like Garnett has done this season but we haven’t seen enough of him to know

It's an added complication certainly, although most teams probably use a senior Brit slot on the backup. They need to work out what they're doing with the netminders, problem comes back to Garnett's contract really. Do those teams run 4 lines though?

No Betteridge will still qualify as an u23 next season as he is 22 and his birthday isn't until january so it will be an empty spot. Ah, see what you mean. Don't forget Gospel will no longer be u23 next year though, so we might need to use it there. That would mean replacing Clarke with an u23 brit and is that Good enough? Who in that bracket could potentially fill the void? Lewis Hook? Sam Duggan? It would also mean there would be no point in having 2 import net minders as he's now a part of the main 19 instead of one the extra u23

How good is Gagnon as a defenceman? He’s obviously the best scrapper but I don’t see him week in week out to know if he can play a bit too. He does nothing flashy. Pretty basic puck handling skills and a half decent shot but he's very capable defensively. Doesn't make too many mistakes

Who would be everybody's choice to replace David Clarke? Wouldn’t Perlini be technically your scoring Brit replacement? Maybe move Betteridge up and give Kelsall a shot. No Betteridge will still qualify as an u23 next season as he is 22 and his birthday isn't until january so it will be an empty spot.

Why not? Why wouldn’t they? Is there anything panthers do that you like? Not a lot no. Love the sport, but absolutely hate the way it’s run at Panthers. And history tells you they won’t spend that sponsorship money on the ice. People say Neilson was a great coach and Panthers spend tons and tons of money. That’s garbage and it’s the reason that out of the last possible 20 trophies they could have won,all they have won is....One play off,two challenge cups and an Erhardt conference. For a team like Panthers, with the limited opposition they have.....that’s utterly crap ! Why do you "support" them then?

Apart from the Brits the only ones i would keep would be... Galbraith Brown Pither Sauve The rest either didn’t produce what they should have or just weren’t good enough in the first place ! Pretty much agree apart from Sauve. Quality at times but a liability at others. I'd add Vaskivuo and Mok as possibles but like you say the ones that really deserve a new and improved contract are Pither, Brown and Galbraith

Looks like a good appointment to me. Wealth of experience. 14 coaching in the DEL. 4 years in DEL2 and plenty of international coaching too. Bet he isn't short of contacts. Comparing him to Tripp is ridiculous. Nearly 20 years of coaching experience when Tripp had just half a season

As much as I hate to say it - Panthers season has been mediocre to poor
- Panthers lost tonight for not turning up for the full 60 minutes again
- Panthers need to clear out or gas some of their players that are on two year deal if possible
- Panthers need a strong new coach with a pedigree of winning things and install this mentality in to the players
- Panthers will lose to Fife tomorrow as they have nothing to prove!
This. That was totally what was wrong with that 3rd period. We were negative and played with a losers mentality. We had our foot on their throats and we should't have taken it off

Sorry Corey but that game has just shown why your time is up. How many times have we taken a decent lead into the third and and just sat back and tried to defend it. Theres been a few occasions, most notably the game against fife when we were 4-1 up. He just hasn't learned his lesson. We looked for better than steelers and all we did was just hand the impetus to them. We looked confident and slick in 1 and 2 but as soon as we sat back we just invited the pressure and looked nervous on the puck as a consequence and couldn't clear the zone

Good goal by the goalie killer in fairness to him, usual move Good move but shocking from mosey. No way he should have let Armstrong get to the net so easily

2-0 Pither. You wouldn't leave Vaskivuo out though would you? They mentioned in commentary that he picked up a knock in the QF
