The cap was scrapped half way through this season (read My Phillips' press release) so I would assume that they won't be bringing it back?
Seems a bit silly having a hard cap if most teams are going to spend what they can afford rather than what the cap is, especially as the league isn't going to punish those who break it

Most teams in the EPL don't get much more than 700 through the gates if that. Guilford get better attendences than us and ATM I'd say we are averaging about 1,000 a game. IMO our attendences are better than what we had in the EIHL and rising. It seems that on average we get more away fans at our rink than we did last year despite it being a longer trek for most. "Work is due to get underway in 2011 if the scheme gets the go-ahead from planning chiefs, and it would take three to five years to complete it." I have suffered playing on that surface myself regularly and yes it is a pain. Unfortunatly the club has nothing to do with the rink (I belive NM was affiliated buisiness-wise at one point but no longer is.) As I said before the rink is past it's sell-by. Hopefully we should be in the new rink by the start of the 2013/2014 season but that is just my guess. Hope this answers your questions. I didn't ask what you got in relation to other teams. You are guessing at the figures. The club don't release them - yet they know what they are, at the very least they have to know by law and you'd assume they keep tabs on it for business reasons. Why not release the figure? Every time i've been there this season i'd say there were between 750 and 1000 in depending on the game so broadly speaking we agree on our 'guess' but it's cold hard facts that i'm looking for - why wont anyone connected to Phoenix give them out - i've asked and people go very coy and shy away from answering. Granted away attendances are decent and that's a good thing. However once the novelty wears off the trips from Slough and Guildford wont be so appealing to most I would imagine. It was a novelty to go to Plymouth with Forest the first time round, wasn't quite so appealing the next season and the one after.... Work underway by 2011 and finished by 2014. So add the standard year or two it'll take to finally get finished and at the very best 2015 - that's if the final project includes a rink. Now let me add something else to the mix. Neil Morris did indeed own part of the rink once upon a time. He relinquished his shareholding a couple of years ago, because he needed the cash to fund another of his 'investments' which was (and by all accounts still is, although not to the same degree I believe) haemorrhaging cash at an alarming rate. Guess which investment that was. The Altair development is going to be done in 2 parts, the part that is currently the car park is getting done first with the underground car park and then the ice rink above it. After this side is completed the current rink will be taken down and the rest of the development will be built on that side of the area. So I would assume that the new rink will be one of the first bits finished on the development. So hopefully Phoenix will be moving in a bit earlier than your estimate. Obviously circumstances change and Phoenix could be left without a rink for a while, if the developers decide to develop the whole of the site in one go, and they take down the old rink before the new one is finished. I don't know why Phoenix don't publish the attendance figures, however they write them on the official game sheet. These aren't made public by Phoenix but some other teams do, for example Bracknell. I think on 7th Nov there were just over 800 people in the rink, whilst against P'boro on 14th Nov there were approx 970 people. I hear attendances are on the up but it's hard to judge since they won't release the official figures. They did hire a marketing specialist on a short term contract - Dave Biggar who worked with the Steelers, then the Storm, then moved to US and worked on MSG. He is now the new marketing man at Everton which is probably why he was only on a short term contract. The figures I've heard for the Neil Morris were that he was putting £150k a year for the previous 5 years to keep Phoenix afloat. I've not anything about the situation this season.

I think if we add any teams in they will have empty rosters, because initially they will be there to make up the numbers rather than have any bearing on the league standings. Then for the second season onwards if the user wants they can turn them into a proper franchise(since in the first season all of the best brits will be unavailable).... Not 100% sure yet, we also face the same problem with the EPL as it's coded to have 12 teams....

Hey, I'm an admin over at www.ehmtheblueline.com and we're currently in the process of doing an update for Eastside Hockey Manager(EHM), a hockey manager sim made by SI Games. Unfortunately SI Games has stopped making the game and the last version of the game was 2006/2007 season. I've previously done EIHL updates for the game however due to Phoenix & Basingstoke unfortunately dropping down to the EPL & the EIHL being hard coded into the game we are left with 2 empty slots in the EIHL that need filling. I was wondering, even if you didn't play the game, what you guys thought would be the best solution to our problem. The EIHL has to have 10 teams in so we were thinking one of the following solutions: 1) Put in a fictional team: For example Leeds Lazers, a Liverpool based team, Breahead...etc 2) Put in a team that has previously been a major UK Ice Hockey Team. For example Durham Wasps, Manchester Storm, Ayr Scottish Eagles etc... 3) Put in a team that has rumoured to be moving to EIHL, i.e. a team from the Irish or Scottish league Any opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated. As I say you don't need to play he game to tell what you think would be most realistic. Thanks, Calv

Seems to me that Neil Morris wants to stop putting £140,000 in to the club per year. Take that much off the wage budget and you've got a team that is EPL quality, no 2 ways about it. Seems to me there were 2 options for this 1) Stay in the EIHL with an EPL quality team, or 2) move to the EPL with an EPL quality team.
