As a Storm fan, I thought Finnerty was a relatively poor coach, first season aside. We finished 2nd, 9th, 8th (Covid season), 4th in the EIHL series (out of 4),and then 9th, never making the final 4 of the playoffs. It felt like the teams were setup to play in Altrincham so the away form was terrible and meant we had to win a lot of home games to even make the playoffs most seasons. That season we finished second was top quality though, however rumours are it cost a lot to put together.
Not really sure what the point of that statement is either, could've been said behind closed doors tbh.
He's also one of the owners of Storm so I can't see him moving on anytime soon, so it's all a bit moot!

Interesting move, joe must think he can learn more from playing in Hungary than he can in THE eihl. Although they are called Hockey academy, they play in the Erste liga in Hungary. They won 3 games out of 36 last season with a team mad up of 18-23 year olds. There highest PPG player last year was a certain Alexander Mokshantsev

There's a league meeting next week, and Storm are expecting there to be more news announced afterwards regarding the new season (an email went out this week). Cardiff seem to be announcing players, and Dundee are making a signing announcement every week too.
I think one issue is the disparity in restrictions across the devolved nations, the Cardiff rink (& Deeside too) is currently completely closed, while in Scotland I think they're open but you can't use the changing rooms. This was posted by the Fife supporters club this week

Planet Ice have announced that there'll be no hockey games with spectators in their rinks until 1st January, with the possible exception of some pilot friendlies or maybe cup games - gophantoms.co.uk/important-update-to-fans/ - this presumably covers both Manchester & Coventry

To be honest, I have no idea. I'm not enough of a geek to start looking either 😂😂. Don't put yourself down so easily. Have a look, for me. My realistic disposition on the subject requires the fuel. The Austrian league (formerly EBEL now the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League) have had a transfer hiatus which has just lifted today - that's not to say they've not been signing players though for example Herr who appears to have an agreement but hasn't been announced yet. Liiga have already started their pre-season, so they're signings are going ahead as normal. SHL are planning a mid-September start and they're announcing signings as usual. As far as I can tell almost all other leagues are announcing signings etc, including France, DEL & DEL2, Slovakia (except for Kosice who have no players announcing seemingly), Czech, Denmark, Norway, Swiss NLA & NLB, Hungary (again, a few teams have very low roster numbers). There does appear to be some variation even within leagues, for example Chamonix in the French league currently have a roster size of 14, but Briancon have 24 on their roster. Similar story in DEL & DEL2. Poland roster sizes also vary from 6 to 23. The only leagues that I can see that have not been announcing or signing players are: Austria (expect that to change quickly as stated above) Latvia (all rosters are empty, except 1 team with 5 players) That's just from a quick look on Elite Prospects, but as far as I can tell the EIHL is one of the few leagues where the roster numbers are universally down across the league. I should add that I didn't look at every single league going, but certainly the main ones who feed into the CHL and conti cup

KHL are already playing preseason games, there were some concerns about crossing borders but I believe the plan B was for non-Russian teams to be temporarily based in Russia if necessary.
SHL aiming for a 19th September start to the regular season.
Liiga have started their pre-season too, I don't know what crowd restrictions are in place but there were only 658 at the first game. The regular season starts 1st October

Fan on the ice stops play 😂 We really need more info on this! It was a bit surreal he just appeared from near the Storm bench - not sure how he got onto the ice. He then stood on the ice for a bit, seemed to cheer to some guys in the crowd. The ref came over and he was ejected.

Storm aren't a big team this year, Gagnon is the only bug guy, while Hope picked up some PIMs in Jr's and the beginning of his USports career but they've dropped significantly since then. Still 1 forward and d left, so maybe a couple of bugger guys coming

I get the impression, listening to Dutiaumes post-game interview and reading an interview with Bari McKenzie, that the Flyers were asking for the review for Moffatt skating into Crowders head rather than the hit,but I could be wrong.

Disappointed that we struggle to hold a lead again. Storm is a tough place to go but if you want to be winning league titles when your 2 goals up you have to try see the game out. For Storm second goal surely that was netminder interference? The last one time you see the puck from that camera angle was under Garnetts arm so surely the play should have stopped if you can't see the puck. Storm then has a last chop and manages to get the puck in the net. You can see Garnett complaining afterwards. Oh well we move on, as the Steelers game, glad it was the CC and not league. They did review the second Storm goal, as well as the final goal (possibly batted in by a high stick),unfortunately these views are not shown on the highlights.

Davos are pretty good, they have one of the lowest average attendances in the NLA but have made the semi finals in the playoffs the last two seasons and won it the year before that. Bern have won the playoffs the past 2 seasons, and they won the league as well this last year. They also have 13,000 season ticket holders!! The biggest difference between the sides is that Davos have 28 Swiss players, while Bern have 18. Davos also have the coolest arena I've been to. Is that the one that looks like a giant sauna inside? That's one way of describing it! www.1905.ch/sites/default/files/patinoire/Davos.jpgUnfortunately I was only there running, and there was no hockey on at the time I was visiting

Stephen Murphy to sign for Fife Flyers... He has already signed for Giants and Fife have signed Marr from Coventry. Fife signed Jordan Marr from the Caps, Renny is the one that plays for Coventry (they're brothers)
