just a couple of observations patience is a virtue and Rome wasnt built in a day ! No, but i'm sure it was built on solid foundations.

But if people were putting a roster together now with the benefit of hindsight,I bet not many would still have Lepine in their roster. If they were putting this year’s team together again today,I’d hazard a guess the only import players most people would keep from this years team would be Herr,Deutsch,Connolly, Matheson and maybe DeSantis. I said before the season started that I liked all the signings individually, but I didn't think there was enough quality as a team. Obviously a few have performed below expectations thus far, but I think that still holds true. We're short if goals and a 1st line. Nail on the head.

Well thats forces thier hand on one player. I had him at around a ppg player but he hasnt lit it up at all. Hopefully a good bargin can be found.
Still think we need a couple more changes.

Its very simple this team lacks pure quality up front. Even so we should be doing better than we are, but this is just how this season will go.
I said it when the signings were made, we havnt got a first line. I reckon we need 2 or 3 first line players. If you dropped Ling and Fox from when we had them in this team in place of say Jakobs and Rheault then we might be alright. But we just dont have that sort of creative ability.
Some players have not produced though so far. Bulmer, Jakobs, Malmquist and Loiseau have contributed virtually nothing in terms of points as of yet.

Id be more than willing to give him a shot at panthers. His face winning alone is an asset, it would be worth a shot that he might reach his potential.

I like what i see. I love the effort levels and seems like there are some decent players that we could hopefully build a team around.
I do feel that as the season goes on as teams gel more our lack of pure quality upfront will show. But id already acepted that in my head so as long as we have a team that fights and works hard im happy.

Davies getting 2 for throwing something into the crowd seems light, but ok as long they do the same for anyone else.
But how on earth has Connelly not got anything. Im sorry that is ridiculous. Hes throwimg punches to the back of someones head whos face down on the ice. If thats not ban worthy i dont know what is.
Im one of those people that thinks the game has been watered down too much. But some things have always been unacceptable and thats one of them. In years gone by Connelly would get no choiced next game, unfortunately in todays hockey he'll probably get off scott free. DOPS you should be asshamed.

If memory serves, Shmyr threw his bottle back onto the ice as he was heading down the tunnel. Arguably not as bad as lobbing something into the crowd. That’s the one, pretty sure he got a ban for it too. Yeah he did. It was something silly like 5 games if my memory serves.

They have a far better team than we do. When they go through the gears we wont compete that's just how this season is going to go. They have so much firepower.

Steelers have the best team on paper for me by some distance. However they have virtually a whole new team and a new coach so i dont have them as title favorites.
If they are within touching distance come the end of the season and go deep in the cups thats a good season. They can build on that and make a real run of the league next year.
Of course Fox could just get it right and blow everyone out the water this year. But EIHL history doesnt seem to favor that option.

Overall a good start. I will say that i thought Devils didnt look very sharp, and were pretty toothless upfront for large parts of the game. We will have to face much more firepower from them over the season.
Its far too soon to make any sweeping judgments yet but a few things that caught my eye.
Positives: Connelly - The guy looks class. Seems to always have an extra second on the puck. Positions very well definsively. Clearly is looking to make that long fast pass up the ice, if guys very on his wave length that will produce goals.
Deutsch - Was my puck for hidden gem when he signed and first immpressions loom good. Skates very well and looked very solid.
Fick - Not as obviously classybas the first 2 but seems to be a really workhorse. Never got himself in trouble and battled really hard.
Golovkovs - Easily my pick of the forwards. Really fast hands, and looks like he can go round a player. If he clicks with some lines mates could do some damage.
Ollie, kelsall, hazeldine - They were given an opportunity to show what they can do and took it with both hands. Really impressed me. Great effort levels and forced multiple turn overs.
Effort levels - team worked hard. Good to see.
Match night pesentation - new scoreboard is great. Love that we have replays.
Negatives: Faceoffs - We didnt win many cleanly at all.
Lepine and Tetlow - Thought they had a shakey night. One section of play they made a right mess of and just couldnt clear the crease. Not sure thats a long term partnership id be happy with.
Physicallity - I thought we were consistently out muscle in 1 on 1 battles. And there were many times guys could of take the bady but didnt.
Its still super early.so everytjing with a pinch of salt. But overall not bad

This is Aaron Foxs' take on the new season. "Fox’s task since being announced is a simple one and that is to catch Cardiff Devils and champions Belfast Giants after a disappointing campaign that saw Steelers finish in an unfamiliar seventh place." In other words Panthers don't feature as a threat. It also shows that we have slipped as a club. There's a lot of inference made in your statement with no actual context. All the teams goals this season is to catch Cardiff and Belfast. They finished 22 points ahead fo everyone last season. Manchester United task is to catch Manchester City and Liverpool: Does that mean they don't see Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs as a thread: no. It just means there's a recognition that the top 2 teams last season were miles ahead and that's the standard. God help us if we win a game this season because most will say its because the other team were bad reading on here. Snap

First piority should be to catch whoever is cutrently wearing the crown, then worry about everyone else. Its like if Man United said, "Our goal is to close the gap with City and Liverpool." They're not going to say they need to close the gap with Spurs or Chelsea are they. Doesnt mean they dont matter.

Strachan is involved with the coaching as previous, just back in his more part time role. Strachan is a solid defensive coach but not great as a head coach. If he's just back to help out and pass on some knowledge to Matherson im happy enough.

This is such a massive signing for panthers that it warrants a single page of comments...... says it all really... its a shame because he is a good player and if we announced him earlier in the off season then id imagine most people would be happy but its a disappointing signing considering its the last forward. The last 3 signing have been disappointing. We needed a top line and we signed a second line.

This is a rebuild season as long as fans go in with that expectation we could have a good season. I will be very surprised if we win anything.
I hoping we get a culture change out of this season. That Wallace can bring in the hard working ethic and we're fun to watch again. The other thing i wants is we find some gems that we can then build a team around. Panther just dont retain good imports for multiple seasons and its a problem.
But make no mistake we're playing for forth.

The kind of player i like. And as a stand alone signing would be pleased. However given what we've already signed cant help but be disappointed.
I think we lack goals. We have plenty of 2nd liners but who are our go to studs when you need a bit of quality to unlock a defence?

Is it a different direction again? And is he top line? Don't have the name yet, just that's he's signed up. Not a centre is all I know atm. If I get anymore before announced I'll get back. I hope this means Perlini is back at centre then where he looked better.

Final forward incoming.... Your lack of enthusiasm doesn’t bode well! It wont surprise me if it was an enforcer.

The Mosey hit was perfectly fine, I was thinking more his other hit against who slips my mind & the fact his card was potentially marked from that point. I'd rather have Lepine playing the protector role than Rissling. Hughes & Rissling offered a hit for the flow of the game, Lepine can protect a team... Or at least could in his first stint. i think rissling is a better fighter, better hitter, and better defence man after you compare the two last season. On last season yes. Early Lepine no.

What is this weird logical fallacy everyone on this thread is buying into?
Being Swedish is not a hockey superpower that makes you magically good. Putting up points makes you good. These guys arent putting up enough for top liners imo.

Sorry but I ain’t seeing these two as top liners, decent as second line maybe. All I’m seeing here is a comparison with Andreas Valdix and Yared Hagos and I don’t think many people would be happy with those two on Panthers top line. 🙄 but you’d be saying that about 100 point players straight out of the NHL Hes right with these 2. You can throw lindhargen in there aswell. We're short of goals. If Steelers had signed these 2 as top end forwards people would be happy.

Go through the track record in the EIHL. Guys with those numbers have not ripped it up. What's your definition of ripping it up. I'd sign a team of swedes, at least you would see work ethic unlike last year ! Over ppg.

Not convinced tbh. If these are top liners we dont stack up well with Steelers and Devils. This is now a rebuild season for me, i think we're battling for forth. Underestimate swedish players at your peril. It's clear we are going with speed this year Go through the track record in the EIHL. Guys with those numbers have not ripped it up.
