Wasn't expecting that. Good luck to him for the future.
Hopefully the wheels turn a bit quicker than usual getting the replacement in.

It does make you think why he bothered coming in the first place. Its not he's said he hasn't settled or isn't playing well or missing home/family. He's quitting the sport all together. I don't understand the logic of looking to move to europe over the summer, training to get ready just to give it all up after a month. Retiring is not something you do on a whim

Interesting comment from Doucet where he says more names will come to light once news of Loiseau’s departure starts to circulate. I don’t want to be negative but it would have sounded a lot more promising if he said we’re now going to go out and attempt to attract the best player we can, not hang fire and wait for players to approach us. Currently, I would have thought that the better unsigned players will be waiting to see what offers come to them. I don’t want to knock Doucet but surely he should have a plethora of forwards on his radar that are un-signed, maybe some that he spoke to during the summer, who WE could maybe convince to come to us.
Anyway, it’s a shame that we never go to see what Loiseau could really offer us, hopefully his injury hasn’t caused his retirement but we have to wish him well.

He does also say that he has a couple of names in mind. Maybe he is expecting players to come forward also with the news that there is a vacancy

I don't understand the logic of looking to move to europe over the summer, training to get ready just to give it all up after a month. Retiring is not something you do on a whim We don't know why he's retired. It could be something which is related to his injury, could be something family related.. or it could be down to mental health, or a loss of love for the game. Loiseau has spent a couple seasons around Europe, in places where neither English or French are a first language so I'd be surprised if it was a simple case of not being able to adapt to culture here. He's only 25 too. I hope it's nothing serious and whilst I don't think he was particularly a standout player whilst he was here, it's never nice to see a player who hasn't even hit their prime yet, retire. We haven't looked good up the middle since the beginning and now the pressure is on to bring in a solid centreman.

While it's obviously a shame to lose him, it's not the worst time to be looking for a player as a lot of players are being cut from training camps with the North American season starting up so there should be a decent pool of players to pick from.
Hopefully Alexis goes well in his new life outside of hockey.

First it’s a reported illness then an upper body injury and now we find that the director of hockey has only just started looking for players. The rebuilding has started...

Seem to recall Loiseau got married in the Summer, and don't think his new wife came over with him. If this was the case, not sure if this had anything to do with his retirement.

Point per game in the DEL last season including 32 goals in 52 games. Still put up 4 in 8 games in the KHL this year. Looks very good pedigree. Feel he could do better than the EIHL, but I think he'd be a good addition. Can't see why he left Dinamo Riga. Google translate of the story just states he played 8 game and has now left.
