I get that they're miffed, but making a point of it is just petulance? Farmer's doing nothing wrong at all, in exploring his options. It’s the Panthers way though. This is exactly the sort of stuff and petulance that pee’s people and players off....and Panthers wonder why they lose out on players with the bad rep they’ve got. At least Farmer made a tweet from them if not the main news feed. Lol 😂 To be fair this was rumored all over social media. If Panthers had kept silent you'd be here bitchin about how they have no recpect for the fans and that they keep us in the dark. So they cant win.

It must do. But theres no smoke without fire. The amount of players who underperform for us is silly. Steve Lee is a great example, put him in a GB shirt and hes a different player. Im convinced theres a culture problem at the club. Its just too many players for it to just be them. Lachowicz worked twice as hard at the Worlds than I've seen him perform in years in a Panther jersey. Hes another prime example. If he went to another team his points would rocket up. You just know it.

Looks like a number of people on here have had their wish come true, asking for us to get rid of these 'poor' Brits. Now Lee, Farms and Gospel (2 of which were GB Internationals) have gone, lets see which better ones are available to replace them. Got to say I agree and I think social media and forums such as this are part of the problem. Players get slagged off left right and centre - some players will take this “appreciation” into account when looking at others offers. It must do. But theres no smoke without fire. The amount of players who underperform for us is silly. Steve Lee is a great example, put him in a GB shirt and hes a different player. Im convinced theres a culture problem at the club. Stay at home dmen are the hardest to judge on stats. But im hoping this guy is quality. The standard of league he played in is very high.

If hes really solid at the back thats fine. But if hes been brought in as a offensive dman then this looks poor. One good season isnt good enough.
I agree about uni deals i feel too many have been wasted in recent seasons.

My main worry is that Dave Simms appeared to know we hadn’t signed Taylor hours before this announcement was made which could suggest Taylor is Sheffield bound He knows too much full stop. He knew/knows there would be a Brit shake up at Panthers this year too. Implied it months ago. Dozens of people know the things he knows and often a lot more, they just have the class and discretion he totally lacks.

Looks ok, not outstanding on paper.
This is stupid by the club though. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot.

Would be the #1 Nettie in the league if true. To be fair we all said that about Garnett as well. And he was decent at times, but theres been way better keepers in the league. But yes on paper Taylor would be a crazy good signing.

Has slightly better stats than kovacs in the same leagues. Should be a handy player pushing ppg.

Ah bugger, I was on about Matheson the whole time. I was wondering why this question was asked when it's been pretty clear Matheson is icing. Wallace is head coach only as far as I'm aware. Think I need to go have a lie down. I hope Wallace is a bench coach and that if we get hit with an injury crisis he and maybe even Doucet could help fill in.

A lot of people are probably quite happy about this. But he will be hard to replace. I don't understand how any Panthers fan can be happy about this depending on his replacement. Lee is one of the top British d-men in the league, and he was better before his concussions too! He is a massive loss to Panthers and a massive plus to whoever signs him. I dont disagree with you. He wasnt the same after his concussion, but still a top level brit dman. I just hope it wasnt the likes of this forum that made him feel unwanted. He has been a huge asset to us over the years. Good luck Stevie.

Not for me. On the decline and is probably his last season. Maybe as a 5th 6th dman. But overall not happy.

I dont think people on here realise this but the arena is losing money hand over fist. That's what happens when a place is built up and relies on handouts. Overstaffed, incompetent and basically crap in just about every department. The arena has always been reliant and help from local authorities but in the current climate thats drying up. Also it makes bad bookings all the time. The amount of shows it loses money on is silly.

You shouldnt write someone off straight away, however this smacks of a they couldnt get who they wanted appointment.
Its done nothing to reasure me that a corners been turned. If anything im questioning if Doucet will be able to get the players we need/want.
Unlike some posters on here i dont want it to all go wrong just so i can say 'i told you so'. I hope Wallace is the right man, I just have no real faith he is.
Good luck Tim.

You know what? Whatever it is, I just wont be able to get excited about it. It could be Moran retiring, and a new GM and HC combo that's coming straight from the NHL ( I know it wont be, but stay with me) . This club has been sucking the enthusiasm from me for the last few years, if not more. Before the start of the season just finished I really thought we'd turned a corner. New coach with European experience and roster that should have delivered, but, it all went tits up. Until we deliver constantly in the next few seasons, then I just cant muster any interest Sadly im in a very similar state.

We are a failing club who have consistently got worse since winning the league in 2013. Nothing that happens at the club gives me reason to believe anything will change. Al the pieces that are consistent with that failure remain in place. 2013-14 57 points out of a possible 104 = 0.548. 4th in league. QF loss. 2014-15 65 points out of a possible 104 = 0.625. 4th in league. QF loss. 2015-16 62 points out of a possible 104 = 0.596. 5th in league. Playoff winners. 2016-17 58 points out of a possible 104 = 0.558. 4th in league. QF loss. 2017-18 71 points out of a possible 112 = 0.634. 4th in league. SF loss. 2018-19 70 points out of a possible 120 = 0.583. 3rd in league. SF loss. Not objectively "consistently worse" at all. Remarkably consistent, actually. This year was Panthers best league finish since winning the league, in point of fact. And no, I don't think it's "right" either, but... Owner and GM remain, yes, but plenty of people said "it" was Neilson. "It" clearly wasn't. What "it" is, I'm not sure, but don't play the "getting worse" line. It may feel like it, but it's not actually true. Its not just been the results. The hockey has become dull or even painful to watch at times. The last 3 seasons for me have been far less enjoyable to watch.

Im at work and remembered the playoffs were on. Just looked at the score and felt absolutley nothing.
I think i just come on this forum out of habit as much as anything. Ive lost all interest in hockey since watching this team earlier this season. Its been total dross and compounded onto of the last few years of dull lifeless hockey.
Im hoping that my interest sparks again this summer because i used to love the hockey, but right now it just doesnt feel like it will.
This team has been total garbage. How on Earth they finished third is a mystery to me.
Maybe theres next year.

Which would most likely be of interest to more people? It was more the dismissive tone of showing women’s hockey that I was reacting to. FreeSports/Premier have rights rights to the Under 18 six nations rugby which starts on Saturday with 3 live games and take precedence. They get far bigger viewing figures and Premier/FreeSports pay for the rights, therefore that will always take priority. I dont disagree with you at all Jono. But it does seem an odd choice.

Cant get 2 semi finals on for the supposed showpiece event but can show live womens hockey ! Why is that a problem? Which would most likely be of interest to more people?

No thread to discuss this? This and the lack of responses on pretty much every game thread for the past 2 months seems to sum up how most of our fans feel atm... couldnt care less. Well thats how i feel anyway.

Corey was never as bad as many on here would like him to be. I just think he went by his sell by date in this league. Others worked him out, and his recruitment got abit questionable. But you dont win that much silverware if you dont know anything. Well done Corey.

Regarding our finishing, last night and previously our forwards take an awfully long time to control the puck and shoot, allowing the opposing goalie time to set his position and the defence block the shot. Nobody, apart from on the pp, tries a 'onetimer'. That tells me that we lack an instinctive goalscorer, even Guptill likes to control, aim and shoot. He just does it better than the rest ! I think your right with this, but also the delivery of the puck is often poor. Badly weighted passes. Or passes just in front or behind where the shooter needs them. A good passing player makes things very easy for goal scorers. Ling - Graham Galbraith - Cook/Mcasalan Tessier - Anyone around him
