Now that the squad has been completed I thought I’d start some discussion about the team and find out which players we think will impress. So, which ONE player are you most excited to see this season?
For me, I’m looking forward to to seeing Quist play. He’s coming off a career season in Denmark where he was the league’s 3rd top scorer, he’s got some great size at 6’5” and he’s reportedly got some good wheels, combining the two I think our league could really suit him. We tend to see a lot plays worked in the corners and down low, I think his size and reach could be a big advantage in these situations.
So, what are other people’s thoughts?

Herr for me, sounds like an odd choice but from the odd clip ive seen on youtube I think hes going to bring a lot energy and grit each night. the blue collar players are the ones I look out for, silky hands, dekes and goals are of course a highlight but it'll be interesting to see him on the ice for sure along with Bulmer.

Looking forward to seeing Malmquist as he's the unknown quantity. Looking forward to seeing Connelly too

I'm interested to see what the ex Steelers boys bring to your side, especially Matheson.

Don't get "excited" any more, but of players that I'd like to see what they can do... Malmquist is ahead by a nose, with Quist and Herr close behind.
The intriguing thing about this roster is not that it's made up of players who you can point to and say "they've done THAT" (with no guarantee they'll replicate that over here, as we've found out in the past), but rather of players whose CVs and stats indicate that there is so much that they COULD do (again, not that they definitely will...). It's a bit of a gamble... but quite frankly, after the optimism felt this time last year and the disappointment that followed - I think I'd rather see us roll the dice. A journey into the unknown...

Due to not attending games that aren’t covered by the ST and being away on holiday mid-September my first games of the season will be the Clan home weekender at the end of September. So I’ll least I’ll have an idea of what’s on the cards going forward from there!

Pretty much how I feel; I hope to see a team that has a strong work ethic & compete every night. If they battle, I’m sure folks will support them through thick & thin. I think the last three seasons, domestically, have been woeful.

The general consensus seems to be Malmquist, Deutsch and Herr. For me, another one out of left field is Tetlow. As he is now going to be part of the starting 6D we are going to have to rely on him to do a job, which means he is going to have to step up. With the experienced defence men we have in the team, hopefully they can guide him to becoming a top player.

All the new imports as a fair few are intriguing signings who as we've all said are very much "wait and see" Malmquist, Jakobs, Quist, Connelly, Deutsch, Fick, DeSantis, Herr, Loiseau and Carr as we roughly know what we're getting from Matheson, Bulmer & Golovkovs

Can we please give over with the Dan Green bashing. It's so tiring and boring to read. Especially when pretty much nobody on this forum is going to have the slightest idea about what he does day in day out. I don't know either, and frankly I don't particularly care. But there is no need to constantly bash him.

Doing a fine job as well apparently.

Genuinely, I'm most looking forward to seeing how Lepine and Rheault fare this season.
Lepine had a bad year based on previous standards, but with a more mobile looking team this season I'm hoping to see a bounce-back.
I actually thought Rheault was one of our better players pre-injury last season. Post-injury he came back into a team that looked like it couldn't give a smeg so I took that as more him getting back to fitness than bothering about his play as the rest of the team were generally quite bad. If we get the pre-injury Rheault for the whole season, he should be up there with the top points scorers in the league.
