4th biggest budget, eh? You can just see the PR now... let me see - Belfast, Sheffield, Nottingham, Glasgow... now it'll be the FIFTH biggest budget, just you wait... Mardiff do PR the proper way as well, straight from the horses mouth. So remember folks, it has to be true. Well, it certainly comes from one end of the horse...

<link>I have to admit... Carr is gradually eroding my earlier less-than-favourable impression of him. Not all the way there yet, but he's getting there... sometimes it's nice to be wrong.

Well seeing as you have already written off Panthers' domestic chances, what would it matter? Where have I written off their chances? I have said it's a distraction which it is in comparison to the bread and butter of the league championship Where haven't you? That's a shock.. theres a reason the players they have are here in this league and not playing at a higher level.. still think Panthers will be 4th at best though ! <link>Not far to bottom of the league. Good.. Panthers will be in 10th shortly <link>And as for:- I'm hoping Panthers remain in the bottom two all season.. theres no Caps or MK to rely on being worse now.. The last time Panthers really proped up the table was back in 2001 before all social media etc so you never really got a idea of any meltdown... <link>Dear oh dear oh dear...

As long as it doesn’t upset the apple cart and spoil the current good roll Panthers are on then fine, have your European jaunt. But the Conti cup has a nasty habit of being a distraction and causing trouble for teams. I just see it as a second rate competition, sorry. Me too. Complete distraction these days .. imagine if Herr and Hanson return from Denmark with injuries? Well seeing as you have already written off Panthers' domestic chances, what would it matter?

It is heartening to note that Carr and the team as a whole conceded just one goal in six periods this weekend... and that was defending a SIX-on-three penalty kill!
Impressive stuff...

Great performance, best of the season so far and made a good Belfast side look ordinary. There will be a backlash from Belfast today I’m sure but continue to play as we did last night and we could still challenge. Thats a defeatiest attitude What exactly is defeatist about that? Good sides don't just lay down after a defeat, and Belfast are a good side. Caution is not defeatism.

Get ready for our pursuit of a coffee pot to go with the tea tray won last time out in this second rate Eurotrash tournament. Really fearful of picking up injuries in a competition that only appeals to owner Black and some of our travelling alcoholic supporters. That's a very arrogant and contemptuous statement... not to mention insulting to the fans who travel to tournaments like this. So you don't like the Continental Cup... fine, that's your privilege. How about showing a bit of class and not letting your bile spill over onto others?

Then the Perlini one. He blocks a shot with his stick, which breaks, then he is called for using a broken stick, which he didn't. From what I saw, it looked like Perlini blocked the shot with his stick which broke, as you say... but as far as I can tell he didn't realise, played the puck with it - which is when he realised and then immediately dropped it. So technically... yes, he played the puck with a broken stick, which is technically a penalty... but these are always down to referee discretion, aren't they? None of which was going our way tonight!

I thought it was Kelsall? Oops, yes - sorry, that's correct. I always get #13 & #14 switched around... it was #14 (Kelsall) that sat the penalty.

That has to be the best performance that the Panthers have put in so far this season. Excellent stuff... relentless pressure offensively, fighting for every puck, full-on effort. Connelly, Bulmer, Carr, Herr, Hanson, Betteridge... hell, they all bust a gut to win. And it wasn't as if Belfast were poor or lazy or not trying... they played hard, just we played harder. Very good to see... more of the same, please!

Hi. Thanks both for your replies. I didn’t say in previous post but unfortunately i live in south wales, i was just on a hockey break for the weekend. (Plus notts county game on saturday) Im actually a devils season ticket holder so only manage to visit other teams on rare occasions throughout season. If i sent money via bank transfer or pay-pal would it be possible to post them to me? Pin badges sound good as well. I have tickets for the olympic qualifiers in February. Would the pucks still be around then? Thanks again for your replies Regards Steve I'll check to see exactly what we've got when I'm at the game on Sunday... there had been a large box of pucks, but I'm not sure where that went (could be stashed away under something else). At the very least - yes, I'll be at the Winter Olympics games in February (with the GBSC mob) so if nothing else I can get stuff to you then. Will check what there is and PM you.

Deja vu all over again?
Not only is it in the Daily Fail, but every time we hear about "negotiations" like this, it usually turns out that someone's just said "yeah, well... we'd like to, maybe... someday...".

Hi just heading back home today after Nottingham double header this weekend, panthers Saturday and Lions yesterday. Enjoyed both matches At the game last night i was told sometimes you can get merchandise on game nights. I was just wondering is there anywhere online like facebook where i could purchase nottingham lion pucks? Every team i go to i try to get 2, one for myself and one for my dad, so any help would be appreciated. As Humbucker says... it's myself that is the point of contact for Lions merchandise. My apologies for not being there last night - prior commitments unfortunately. I'll be there at the home game this Sunday (hosting Widnes Wild) which is after the Panthers game... face-off scheduled for 7:30pm in the Olympic Rink. I'll make sure to put a couple of the pucks aside for you - we've also got some game-worn jerseys left (bargain at £25 each!), a few lanyards, a few pin badges, and still a few baseball caps I think. Hopefully see you there!

Interesting ruling on the Gagnon vs Davies Incidents www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/255-suspensions-for-michael-davies-and-mathieu-gagnonDavies: 1 Game for Slew footing 3 Games for Wiping his face with Gagnon glove and discarding it 2 Games for Repeat offender Gagnon: 2 Games for a one-man fight 3 Games for throwing his helmet across the ice. Honestly the Helmet and Glove things seem overblown. The slew footing, one-man fight and repeat offender seem warranted IMHO. Right... have a look at that video again. Then read this:- Sheffield StarDoes anyone here see anything more than a surface resemblance between the two? Pathetic...

Football clubs normally welcome the opposition at the start, welcome back any returning players etc. I don't find that a big deal personally. Maybe during the game we could cut out the "any noise from the fans of..." for them, but that's about it. Sounds about right to me... As for the music... nothing is ever going to please everyone. Personally I absolutely loathe that 'Woo!' tune (why did we follow Sheffield's lead with that tripe?) but others seem to love it. Personal opinion again, but with hockey being a fast, hard-hitting sport, I would suggest that the majority of the music should reflect that (which means mostly - but not exclusively - rock) - others may disagree. They do appear to gradually change things bit by bit... hence having Motorhead's "Born To Raise Hell" played early doors... hey, hockey and Motorhead go together like bacon & eggs or The Sheffield Star and a sickbag!

Batten down the hatches, people... there's trouble a-comin'! Just found a fixture clash which - so far, it seems - appears to have been overlooked. According to the websites of the Elite League, the Nottingham Panthers and the Guildford Flames - we have a home game on Saturday 7th March against Guildford. According to the Motorpoint Arena website and the website of the band... The Stereophonics are playing the arena that night! Oops... <Stereophonics website>

I'm kind of ambivalent on the helmet suspension... he definitely deserves one - 3 games maybe a tad too much? A helmet isn't exactly a minor thing to chuck at someone, but it appears to have just been chucked out in frustration at nobody in particular. The glove thing on the other hand - definitely deserves 3 games. Not only is it disrespectful and stupid (wiping a used glove with all sorts of sweat, snot and who-knows-what on it onto an open wound? - DUMB!) but also with the understandable caution these days about contact with other people's blood... it's reckless, as well as effectively removing another player's equipment from use. This plus the goal-peg incident... well, he'll fit in right well up at the Rusty Hut... Agree with you completely on the rest.

Was this when Panthers were shooting towards the stage end? No, it was right at the end of the 3rd period, so shooting away from the stage end.

A 5-goal third period - with 4 goals in less than 5 minutes - and Cardiff come from behind to beat Dundee 8-6! Sounds like an interesting evening down there...
