Doesn't look nearly as good as Devils and Steelers latest Alpine recruits, but I'm happy that he's a young guy with something to prove. I'd be very dissappointed if this was the only signing though, could definitely use another D-man.

No problem with this guy but not sure he's a good enough replacement for Williams. Could do with adding some class to the forward lines. Thst would lead to Lindhagen staying at the back. However with us having nothing to play for for a month we can afford to wait for the injured pair to be back. So probably only 1 more needed.

Too little too late, if they were serious about this season they would have brought in players for the game last night!

Basically to replace Williams.
Sarkanis looks OK but I'd have prefered any of the other ALPSHL players who've come over.

What is the point in this signing? We've lost the league, we're out of the cup, no-one really cares about the conference (not that we'll win that anyway) so that leaves the Playoffs. Do the playoffs really matter to management this much?
As has been said multiple times, this is far too late.

It'll be a cheap way to make it look like they're doing something. Yesterday the right guy wasn't available, then by 10 o'clock this morning we get this. Is Deivids the "right guy"? Come on.
Still, I wish him luck. Welcome to Panthers.

Its like the club are activley trying make people walk away. Far far far to late.
He scored less points than Carter in france last season. I wouldnt be suprised if get more points a game than him here though. Carter has been a total flop.

Poor sod has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and he's not even arrived. Williams replacement, the right player to turn the season around, the one who will gee the team up.
Has a player been bigged up more since Betteridge was touted as Myers replacement, despite have wood varnish stains on his shorts the previous season.
But he's young, so if / when he makes mistakes CN can say he is still learning the game and needs time.

To give this some perspective Steelers just signed the top scorer from this league who has scored twice as many points as Sarkanis.
This shows aswell as anything the difference in attitudes between the clubs. One is trying to activley better itself and compete. And the other is just taking the biscuit.
Your a shambles Panthers a total shambles. And you will reap what you sow. I cant express my level of disappointment.

Very much a player you'd sign as a developmental type project, not as a player coming into a team that has crapped the bed domestically on a consistent basis.
I hope Sarkanis comes in, scores a shed load of points, but really, it's a rather underwhelming addition.

We often compare the French Ligue Magnus to here, though slightly better here, and he didn't exactly turn any heads. He would've been 20/21 admittedly which is the promising part.
Riga Jnr's were a real energetic and tough team when we played them so I feel he could also be another one of the gritty grinding types, with some sweet Latvian moves in his hands.
He's fallen both on his feet, but jolted his back when it comes to signing for us. He's joining a sinking ship, which is basically condemnable, but because we're so poor.. the door is wide open for him to impress and try and earn a spot for next season.
Personally I don't think he will be good enough to earn that permanent spot next season from reading up on him but I'll be happy to be proved wrong. If he does impress then at the very least i'd hope we'D consider having him as an additional import for the CHL. He's young, raring to go, could be good for both club and player.
As a team, we're finished. But there's still plenty of time to watch guys as an individual, see if they possess anything we might not have clearly noticed over the season with the ever changing lines and incapable teammates.
Sarkanis is certainly a cheap option but his age brings optimism about him being a gem, who knows. We don't get many Latvian skaters in the league so hopefully he shows a great account of himself

If I was in a sarcastic negative mood I'd have said they might as well have signed Jonas Saari for all the good it would do. But I'm not. If this player does well then it says to me that there are hundreds of players available with similar resumes that could have done a job, if this is the case then why are there 'no players available'. If he doesn't do well no-one will be surprised, he doesn't strike me as a like for like replacement for Williams that's for sure. Hopefully there are more to come as we've just lost three players, and the rest don't look like they are going to pick up the slack.

Sarkanis was far and away Riga's best player when they played here a couple of years ago.
I'm fairly excited by this signing tbh. Especially if it's with a view to re-signing next season.

Too little too late, I just wish we hadn't won the Continental Tea Tray ( how we did it I will never know) because without this we would hopefully have been gassing Cory and his "team" . Now there is no way we will get rid. I am not sure if I can cope with another season of this rubbish. I think Cory is the best coach of coaching skills out of players I have ever seen. Most of the player turn up looking bright, but within a week he has coached it out of them ( or they have realised they are on a drink and bunny holiday and will never get sacked no matter how bad they ) Laurence and Carter would have been gassed months ago any where else the way they play with "passion", but then again anywhere else and they would have maybe worked due to non holiday camp mentality
