IIRC at the start of the season, the defence was looked at being quite good, including the starting goalie, but most people weren't overly impressed with the forwards & questioned where the goals would come from.
Personally, Lawrence & Carter have been an absolute waste of roster space, Schultz is made of glass & the defence has been crippled by long term injuries that seemingly were never addressed.
The CC was nice, great for the league & club, but domestically, this has been one of my worst seasons & I have a sincere dislike for this roster.

Posted in July, after he'd flogged us our season tickets for the domestic campaign True, but there is an arguement that season ticket holders are probably more aware of NB and that his eye has always been on success in Europe so could've made a good educated guess on this before signing up. Not saying I agree with him coming out to say this after sellling season tickets but the case can be made that this should've been somewhat expected.

We all know that he said it, but, how exactly do you prioritise the Continental Cup over the league? How exactly did we do that?

For me, it must be a genuine challenge for a league title; I know that is easier said than done & everyone can be an armchair general manager, but the club has dominated challenge cup & playoffs in recent seasons, but not the league title.

I agree 100% It's got to be a league title. Blowing a season for a few CHL games is bloody madness if we do that again !

People on here say season after season that they probably won't renew season tickets but still do. Then say exactly the same again as the season before after they buy again.
If you don't really expect things to change, don't get one.
I've not had one since we moved from the old stadium.

Recruitment of less physical, smaller, better skating d-men (do you really need Spang & Sertich?) could've been one way as these are potentially more suited to the European game whereas to succeed over here you need someone in the mould of a Nickerson, Martinelli, Fitzgerald, Louis, Beckett, Lepine etc. Yes we had Kudroc for a bit but he wasn't in the initial plans.

Thinking out loud a little here but maybe the perception of 'lethergic and disinterested' comes from a tactical persepctive. Corey would've got told at one point (no doubt before we where) that he needed to win the CC and that's what he would be judged on this season, could you then blame him for opting for a more passive/conservative approach in domestic games in order to avoid potential injuries. Unfortunately then injuries happened anyway which meant we had to continue with this style of play due to being short benched (which is a problem that goes higher than Corey). This team can be fast and exciting (1st period vs Sheffield last week shows this, as bad as the Steelers were in that period we had to be equally as good to make them look that bad) I just don't know if they've been afforded the oppurtunity to be. Just a theory.

Like I said, it's just a theory. I don't see it as rubbish though. I am more inclined to drive a more positive narrative though because that's the environment I prefer to be in.

Nope stopped couple of years ago when it was obvious we were not going to defend the one and only league title... Since then the number of games i have attended have steadily dropped off until this season i have probably seen less than a dozen....IF panthers were worth watching i am sure i would watch them but i cant be the only one who thinks like this and if the management arent careful they will slaughter the golden goose that is the unwavering panthers support and when that happens then i do feel for what might happen to the team if it doesnt give the fans what they want...

As long as we do well at home (16-6-2 currently if I have it correctly inc. Challenge Cup games) I highly doubt the crowds will drastically change.

Our home record of 16-6-2 is only 0.7 hockey and that's the home record. If your home record is only 0.7 you have got no chance of winning the league whatsoever. Unless of course your away record is unbelievably good, which it isn't and is never likely to be.

No chance of winning the league with that kind of record no, but there'll be more people happy about it than not I would imagine.

Panthers have it made fan base wise. An ideal location, a cheap enough Evening, decent entertainment that can't really be matched sports wise locally elsewhere & a mildly successful product.
Doesn't matter if a selection of 'the hardcore' or knowledgeable fan base don't attend. There's always enough hangers on or part timers who are there for the occasional match experience.
Look how Steelers games always sell out, those in charge know they are on to a winner.

Exactly - the entire franchise is just a golden goose. Even if we spent less than Edinburgh and finished bottom every year, we'd still get 4,000 a game. Basically whatever they do, they can't fail to make money. We're pretty much a consistently lower/mid table club in the league, the crowds are still going up and we don't exactly have the best marketing in the league do we? The day Black got hold of the franchise, his entire family, probably for generations to come, will be rich. Even if we had an absolutely appalling few seasons and crowds plummeted, you could still get top whack for the franchise on the basis that "it's a city centre rink with a hardcore following - spend a bit of money and market it properly and you'll fill the arena every week".

Looking forward to seeing Sarkanis play later, it's a packed rink so I hope he gets a good welcoming

IMO The reason we keep prioritising Europe is because black is trying to set up a London khl team. He needs to show that the uk is interested and able to compete so that he can get sponsors in.
Sarkanis looks the type of player we should have in the squad for rotation/ injury cover. Replacement for Williams? I feel a bit sorry for him, hope he does well

So did the new boy get a point this weekend, say compared to the steelers signing who scored on his debut....
