If the import limit is to be no more next season (fingers crossed) as has been rumoured (among many other things) then there's definitley room for a 'project' type player like Sarkanis on the 17/18 roster. What's the betting Neilson has Sarkanis earmarked to be turned into the first 1000 mile an hour defenceman the EIHL has ever seen ! 😂 Given the penchant for Corey seemingly trolling the fanbase at this point (which I find borderline hilarious, but that's my kinda humour) is giving him ideas the best move here? I'm having nightmares about Kyle Hardy now, he was quick but never a defenceman!

Big if, plus not something Neilson was aware of when he signed Dave and him and Gary quickly came up with some spin for it. You would hope that Corey & Gary would be aware of something like that potentially being on the table even at this early stage and would be planning accordingly should that be the case. If that's not the case then he'd be good to have on the roster as a rotation option next season (if that's a role he'd take on) as he's evidently capable if nothing else (early days to make that assumption though).

I didn't.....Neilson did 😳 Lol Corey was the one who said Sarkanis could skate 1000 miles per hour. Im guessing it must be another of Neilsons "work in progress things" though cos we certainly ain't seen it yet ! 🙄

Corey was the one who said Sarkanis could skate 1000 miles per hour. Perhaps he turned up to the wrong Nottingham team. What day do the Speed Skaters practice? Getting your head down is part and parcel of spandex sprinting.

Okay, few people doing their usual criticism whilst showing zero knowledge about the game. He may not have Mosey like speed and no points thus far however he is on the FOURTH line. This line has been our most consistent since being put together, they get the puck in deep and fast. They force turn overs, they are constantly on the puck carrier. If you honestly think this hasn't given us something then you are blind and just ignorant. PantherB Sorry buddy but Lacho is not on the decline, new role as a bottom six forward. Maybe remember what that role requires and look at his points for a bottom 6 player. He's having a very good season that everyone seems to be disregarding due to the last two seasons being bad and because he isn't at the 50point mark you assume he's been bad. Find me a player on the team causing more turnovers on the back check and on the PK (spoiler alert, you won't). Getting a new role from the top line down to bottom 6 forward isn't exactly on the upward trend. Last time I looked (spoiler alert, today), Panthers were 7th out of 10 on the PK this season. Sort it stands to reason that 6 other teams have better players on the backcheck, causing turnovers & on the PK? Go back 4 years and Lacho almost could put a trade-mark on his move of lifting a stick and stealing the puck from behind. I've not seen him do that for a few seasons now! So unless you have different proof that Lacho is excelling defensively, I think I'll too just stick to my own eyes and see him as a poor, declining forward. You mean the stick lift he's been doing all season? Focusing on negatives seems to be a trend this fanbase has stuck to. Your argument is a team stat? Which doesn't represent a single players ability. Get real dude.

Lacho's defensively sound and an excellent penalty killer, he's got a role he's very much suited to now as a defensive forward and I'd like to see him continue in that capacity. There's also no reason to think he couldn't perform this role and still produce points down the line should he end up on the wing of a Francis/Galivan or Ryan/Bellamy type pairing again.

It's not as if we'll miss his points production.

Which doesn't represent a single players ability. Get real dude. So when I opened it up for you to offer proof, you declined and went for the straight denial route 👍🏼 Lacho and MacMillan are our main PKers - so that PK stat is a key part of what they'll be judged on. It's like sticking a guy out for every PP and not being concerned when we never score. You say Lacho is doing well in his new defensive role, but we've conceded the 5th highest amount of goals (scoring less than we concede). As someone else has pointed out on this thread, Lacho is one of our worst on the +\- stats (which doesn't include goals from special teams). The only highlight I can pick out for him is that he's up to 4 goals and 18pts in 43 league games, which already beating what he got all last season (3+9 in 49 games). You say he's stick lifting and taking possession every game, yet I can't see it happening and neither can many others??

Neilson can make a pigs ear out of a silk purse any day of the week, if he had Crosby on the roster he would want to make hm into a D
