Try tweeting or emailing the arena. ST already purchased so doesn't directly affect me for the most part, but I hope whatever they're going to use the money on will be worth it. £1.20 per person on top of booking fees, ticket price etc, that's quite steep.

Already too expensive for what’s been on offer.

The scoreboard that replaces the replacement scoreboard is going to be quite something.

Is the fee across all events or is it solely for Panthers games?

The arena fee is a joke, it’s like Tesco charging a “shopping fee” so they can make the store experience better in the future - it’s disgusting.
If they need more money to run their business then simply increase the rates to whoever wants to hire the arena!
This genuinely puts me off going to the arena for any event.

Do they also charge the "booking fee" even when buying in person at the box office? If not, I'd expect them to do that soon too!

I dont think people on here realise this but the arena is losing money hand over fist. That's what happens when a place is built up and relies on handouts. Overstaffed, incompetent and basically crap in just about every department.

I dont think people on here realise this but the arena is losing money hand over fist. This. It’s been struggling for a while with a reduce schedule of events in general and lack of mega star (this is subjective) level talent that they’ve previously had on a regular basis

Good. They shouldn't have built in on the smallest bit of land then. Stars nowadays have huge sets and this arena just isn't equipped to deal with it. Therefore the promoter just wont entertain it.
The concourse is garbage. The staff bloody useless. Security checks is a farce now.
Need I go on

No need to worry about paying the fee - we haven't got a team to support yet, so may not need to go - Anyone supporting the Lions? ??

Also it makes bad bookings all the time. The amount of shows it loses money on is silly.

The concourse is garbage. The staff bloody useless. Security checks is a farce now. Need I go on Security Checks are the worst thing for me given the current climate. I've been to games with a bag and without, several times when I've had my bag they've looked in and not moved anything or searched, and let me through.. despite being drinks and food in there. When without a bag I wear a jersey with a hoodie underneath, easy to smuggle things in. If people can get things the size of a drinks bottle in without being stopped, I pray the venue doesn't become the target of an attack because they will not stop it for as long as security is like it currently is. I found security so poor and hit & miss that I reported it to a CTSA (Counter-Terrorism Security Advisor) for the East Midlands and how they'd done away with the metal detectors for no reason. I assume they took no notice of the report, or didn't pass on concerns to the arena. Apparently those who run the arena are 'good people' and usually hit all the targets for security, but I still think it's a recipe for disaster. Not even talking directly about terrorism either, what if they host a rap concert or something, be pretty easy to take a knife in, and if they suddenly decide to re-introduce the metal detectors for those events, that's undoubtedly racial profiling. If this new facility fee goes towards a permanent structure in the square to replace the plastic gazebo, and has permanent walk through metal detectors and search areas then I'd be content. I know people hate the security process but the risk is too great and I'd rather know I was attending an event which had checked its attendance for weapons or other prohibited articles. Current arena security is essentially sandwich police and even then half of them don't confiscate them anymore.

I went to Manchester arena the other week and they have airport style scanners and the whole entry into the facility was alot more professional.

Current arena security is essentially sandwich police and even then half of them don't confiscate them anymore. They weren't even using the metal detectors properly. One time going through, the Arena security was holding the detector at 90 degrees to what he should. He was just scanning air. I also seriously doubt whether they were correctly calibrated as I deliberately left a collection of about 6 keys in my pocket and they never set it off.

So it should. The place has always been run like an elite club and the customer is a nuisance and in the way. The footfall box office survives most of the time with just one window open, the food and drink areas are as slow as wood, scanners that are next to useless and a load of staff wandering about all of the time doing nothing. Just pleased that I'm not a rate payer there.

Any costs added will put my interest to attend a show/match even further back. Like has been already said, no one should press the attending public to improve on their facilities. This should be happening within their already costly 'take in' from sales. If it's just to improve on hockey then show goers won't be happy and vice verser (though we've had the clock etc...

I dont think people on here realise this but the arena is losing money hand over fist. You must have some inside info then, as the published accounts only show an £11k pre-tax loss the last 2 years on £27m of turnover. Hardly "hand over fist"? Only 1/3 of its income is from "concerts and events". What is incredible to me is that it apparently employs, on average, nearly 800 members of staff! Rent is £100k a year. The City Council did lend it £250k in the 2018 though.

Those are all very dependent on having events and footfall so while it's only a 3rd from events directly. Indirectly it's probably more like 70%. But then it's not shocking that an events business makes its money on the hosting of events.
